I came up with this silly idea for a homage to Black Lotus.
Lotus Picker2R
Creature - Goblin Artificer
When ~ dies, create a colorless artifact token named Black Lotus with "T, Sacrifice this artifact: Add three mana of any one color." "Pick a daisy, pick a rose, pick a lotus, pick your nose!" - Goblin childrens' rhyme
1/1
Originally, the Lotus Picker created the token upon entering the battlefield, but I felt this was both safer balance-wise and more synergistic with the usual Goblin deck strategies.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Too strong. You can get more than 1.
In any deck. You can only have one black lotus. In this deck you have 4 that gives you one.and with token doublers you get multiples. In a perfect world you can actually get 262144 from all 4 lotus pickers (with no recursion). Sure it requires 20 cards to pull off but i think you get the idea. Actually you can add in another 8 doublers (clever impersonator and copy enchantment) but i am not doing the math.
Basic deck would be four of those. A bit of defense/pillowfort. A few doublers and a boseiju to make it an uncounterable fireball.
EDIT: did the math for the extra 8 doublers, by the end you would have 67 108 864.
That is 201 326 592 mana, with the boseiju (making it uncounterable), that is enough to kill every opponent at the table millions of times over.

Obviously, this should cost 2B.
In a throwback context, maybe, and you're probably being facetious, but if it had to be one color right now it'd be red.
I could also see it as an artifact creature? Maybe with some sort of Cathodion or Su-Chi homage to it as well.
Ramping three mana in a future turn for CMC 3 is a pushed effect but it needs a sac outlet and the ramp is delayed, and so the costing is probably fine but in a real set it'd be heavily tested.
"All policies apply only to tournament-legal Magic cards in printed form. Wizards of the Coast has and may continue to print special versions of cards not meant for regular game play, such as oversized cards."

Now I'm envisioning this cute scene with Treasure Nabber stealing the Lotus token from this guy, and Goblin Matron being like "what did I tell you about taking your brother's toys?"
"Make sure I give 'em back when I'm done with 'em?"
Although to be fair, Treasure Nabber actually can't steal the Lotus token unless the token is given a second mana tapping ability that doesn't require sacrificing it.

I think this is really intuitive! It give something very neat to red, which naturally makes some people very uncomfortable, given how deprived the color usually is. However, I think it fits brilliantly within all confines of card, its color, and style. It does some really dynamic in a unique way, which to me is like a throwback to the old days, and how they would implement quirky surprises like this.
One thing that is kind of strange, even for me, is how naturally one seems to find the priceless treasure. Albeit, at one time, the treasure was very common-place.
You could have done this as a legendary, and it would gained a neat dynamic of one knocking off the next to suss the Lotus (with how the legendary rule works now). It even becomes a little more self-reliant then, without the need of wasting other precious resources of yours, that are best reserved and directed against your opponent and their resources in defense.

Would the token violate the Reserve List?
A token's not a tournament-legal card.

I mean, if they're willing to put reserved list cards on the back side of DFCs...
Not the same. Unlike the token named “Black Lotus”, the DFC cards don’t bear the names of their progeny.
They’d be $10+ tokens right out the booster.
It should; that sounds like beautiful flavor for New Alara.
