Rhys, Hemlock Packmaster2G
Legendary Creature - Elf Warrior (R)
Rhys, Hemlock Packmaster can't be blocked by creatures with power 2 or less.
Other Elf, Warrior, and Wolf creatures you control get +1/+0 and can't be blocked by creatures with power 2 or less.
Whenever Rhys, Hemlock Packmaster attacks a player, you may pay 1B. If you do, that player loses 3 life.

An iconic card. Did this card teach you the word "Pernicious"? Would this have been a story spotlight if they existed back then? Discuss.
Definitely how I learnt that word.
Sadly for the longest time the best art of Freyalise to be had. Imagine if planeswalker cards still weren't a sting, but we still had the same planeswalker-driven storyline. Can you imagine which characters you actually wouldn't be able to tell for certain who they would be? Kiora? Huatli? Garruk?
To this day we are missing out on the full set of the Nine Titans. I certainly prefer today's practice.
I'd answer yes to storyline spotlight. Apocalypse doesn't have that many distinct story moment cards (partly to the quite rigorous structure of the first block structure with its many enemy-colored and wedge-colored cycles) and that's an important one.
It's like figuratively half of the story moments depicted in the cards are Urza brawling with Gerrard. It definitely feels like it dominates the white-black cards.
There were no such things as designated story spotlight cards. And there were some card showing of story events by depicting story moments let to some less evocative creative/mechanic connections, where you just have story characters stand next to each other presumably doing things that somehow tie into the mechanics of the card - especially if the card design was bottom-up to begin with. Nowadays story spotlights fall more into categories of "perfect reprint for the story moment" or "custom made top-down design".
In another note I'm sad that storyline spotlight cards are no longer marked. I consider them an intriguing way to explore a set and storyline.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.

Fire Imp always felt like a perfectly balanced card to me, echo is overtaxing this time. Also, I really wish we had more Fire Imp variant, that card is a really lovely example of CA in red.
That card is filled with twos. If they had decided for converted mana cost 2 over generic mana cost 2 there would be much less complaints about the power level, too.

Where on the Storm Scale falls “graveyard order matters”? Personally, I liked it.
It's a hard 9 or soft 10. It's certainly not like ante where it's completely unfeasible to bring it back but R&D views it as too much bookkeeping complexity for too little payoff.
Here’s a list of all the graveyard order matters cards that I could find. Assuming it’s complete, there really aren’t that many considering it was a game element for a solid four years. The lion’s share is from Weatherlight. I remember getting wrecked by Necratog. Did I miss any?
The Custom Card Random Card of the Day for 3/15/19 is Elite Vanguard.
A good example of how to upgrade a card without "really" upgrading it - both of this card's creature types are more favorable tribes for synergies than Savannah Lions's Cats.
I much prefer the kaladesh modules (Animation Module, Decoction Module, Fabrication Module). They're more insular in how they 'combo' with each other, and the combo isn't infinite. They're also more insular with each other in nature, allowing them to be cheaper to cast. It works because you can't 'shortcut' their assembly as easily as with the stations.
It's very deliberate too. The only module that deals with two non-Kaladesh-specific elements (Animation Module, with creatures and counters) is the only one that has a cost on its trigger. Meanwhile energy synergy is block-specific, and so they can easily make sure nothing else in the block forms a busted combo with the other two.
But even so the modules still have interesting synergy with outside cards, and the relative subtlety of it matches the low cost and makes it feel less ham-fisted than the stations. To top it off they all feel more complete as standalone cards as well, whereas the stations have abilities very clearly designed not to interact with each other.

A good example of how to upgrade a card without "really" upgrading it - both of this card's creature types are more favorable tribes for synergies than Savannah Lions's Cats.
