For the Card Types Matter commander theme, I thought it would be cool if each deck had a commander that is the deck's featured card type. The artifact and enchantment legends can still be creatures by default since those combinations are well established now, but sorcery and land require a little more creativity.
For starters, they use the same commander clause that the C14 Planeswalkers do.
Niv-Mizzet's Presence2UURR
Legendary Sorcery
Create a legendary 5/5 blue and red Dragon Wizard creature token with flying named Niv-Mizzet.
~ can be your commander.
Much like Temmet, Vizier of Naktamun, the Niv-Mizzet token type line simply doesn't have room for Token Legendary Creature - Dragon Wizard, so one of the types is called out in the rules text. And what more fitting than a reassertion of Niv-Mizzet's legendary status?
NAME
Legendary Land
~ enters the battlefield tapped. T: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool. WUBRG: Until end of turn, ~ becomes an Elemental creature with power and toughness each equal to the number of lands you control. It's still a land.
~ can be your commander.
We've seen one Land Creature before: Dryad Arbor. However, that caused a lot of rules headaches, so a legendary land commander would more likely be a creatureland in the fashion of Celestial Colonnade and its kin.
I acknowledge that these designs are a bit bland aside from novelty, so I'm open to suggestions on how to improve them.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
It is unfortunate that token Niv-Mizzet doesn't deal commander damage.
I feel a commander token-creating sorcery should make use of the traits of a token-creating spell. If you make it an Izzet-spell, why not e. g. Presence of the Archmages? Tibor and Lumia are two characters and representing them with two tokens makes better use of the design space opened up by token creation - other token creating commanders are often create a subordinate relationship between the two repesented creatures e. g. Tolsimir Wolfblood.
Obviously partner would be a better solution still, so how about a number that not even partner handles e. g. Rikkig, Gardagig and Dargig? Oba, Ses and Cim would probably care more about the tokens than the sorcery aspect. I imagine the Sen Triplets could represent a great sorcery-style theme.
EDIT:
There are other options though e. g. rather than just creating a token you could have a modal spell that either creates a token or does something else (that synergizes with the token on the battlefield). I don't have a good idea yet, but off the top of my head:
Presence of the Firemind
Legendary Sorcery
Choose one (two?) -
Create a legendary 5/5 blue and red Dragon creature token with flying named Niv-Mizzet.
Whenever a creature you control deals damage to a player this turn, draw a card.
Creatures you control gain haste and double strike until end of turn.
~ can be your commander.
Maybe an escalate spell?
Presence of the Dracogenius
Legendary Sorcery
Create a legendary 5/5 blue and red Dragon creature token with flying named Niv-Mizzet. If you control a permanent named Niv-Mizzet already, reveal cards from the top of your library instead until you reveal a sorcery card. You may cast a sorcery card revealed this way without paying its mana cost, then shuffle your library.

Also that "Niv-Mizzet" token should really have an ability instead of being very vanilla. Maybe looting a card during your upkeep?

Maybe with replicate?
