I'd like for this to be rare, but it feels kinds mythic. Could it pass for rare?
Loam Delver (Rare Mythic) 8BG
Creature - Lhurgoyf
*/*
Loam Delver costs 1 less to cast for each card type among cards in your graveyard.
Loam Delver’s power and toughness are each equal to the number of card types among cards in your graveyard.
When Loam Delver dies, return up to one card of each type from your graveyard to your hand.
It's context-dependent. Tarmogoyf itself would pass for rare in a vacuum but given the context surrounding it as one of the strongest creature cards ever, it now needs to be mythic.
Yeah this thing feels like a real mangler. Costs 10, it's in two colors, and it's an unsupported tribe as far as I know. I'd say those are the features that might help it be a rare. But then there's the cost reduction, the color combo, and the sweet hand reload. Not having an ETB helps it stay at rare and the fact that it itself doesn't put cards into the yard helps. It could go both ways but it feels Mythic to me. Any other thoughts on it? This is an aspect of card design I need more experience in.
I like the card, but my concern is that the card return might be pushing it into mythic territory. To support this contention, I look to Seasons Past. Likely will get a similar amount of cards back to the hand, similarly doesn't help fill the yard itself, and has a high CMC, but still is mythic.
The death ability definitely pushes this to mythic, without it skits a line where its fine to be either. Its hits almost every note of a mythic, very large, very expensive, very splashy, complicated; the only thing that could make it more mythic would be making it legendary or more colors(only in a nonmulticolor set).
I disagree with mythic. Power-wise mythic and rare are supposed to be on the same team. What's supposed to define a mythic is the uniqueness of it's ability.
Not just uniqueness, but also impact/scale. A "draw N cards" spell isn't unique, but a "draw seven cards" spell still is worthy of mythic rarity - independent of whether the card is actually powerful (which depents on the cost and is not something I have taken into account for the card in this thread).
This card is a typical Timmy mythic, since its impact comes from the potential to get the biggest/cheapest creature and the most cards, but that does not necessarily mean the card is powerful - that's dependent on whether the setup necessary is competitive with other cards. The text is mythic rare material whether the converted mana cost is ten, twelf, sixteen or four.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.

I think it's Mythic simply because it's doing a lot of cool stuff and has a huge impact on the game. It could be a rare, but this definitely has a mythic feel to it. I'm a big fan of the design though. Feels very "put together".

This could be rare, I think.
