I don't think this has quite happened to me before, but something similar happened recently.
I was talking with my brother about a card idea he had that involved an entire player phasing out for a turn. He asked me if I thought it was viable, and I told him that even if the rules could be changed to handle that sort of effect, WotC isn't likely to bring back phasing any time soon. This was less than 12 hours before Teferi's Protection was revealed. I pretty much had to eat my hat. It's the funniest thing that's happened to me regarding a card idea becoming relevant in a recent set.
Heh. As amusing as these stories are, I'm not sure any will top One With Nothing. Seriously, that card isn't just worthless; in nearly all circumstances, it's actively hurtful to you. And then Owling Mine became a deck, and OwN turned into a tournament-viable sideboard card.
More recently, as someone pointed out earlier today, Enrage makes the drawback of Sorrow's Path into... not one.
They've been "reprinting" a whole bunch of legacy lands. We currently have Diamond Valley, Gaea's Cradle, and Maze of Ith. Do you think they will also "reprint" a transforming Sorrow's Path this block? I'm kinda intrigued and kind of afraid.

MY QUESTION HOWEVER IS THIS: Have you ever made up an "unplayable" card, only to have it become usable due to something they printed?
The one I made that comes to mind was:
Silent Alarm Clock 0
Artifact
T:Tap all enchantments.
A few months later, Theros was announced. My card went from being a worse Darksteel Relic to an expansion hoser.
Heck, anyone have it go the other way and have a good custom card made useless by a change in the rules?
