I'm trying to design an ability for the Jeskai color combination.
I've already designed one named Cunning which appears on creatures and noncreature cards. I was considering the "Whenever you cast a noncreature spell," and have a different effect for each instance of it, which is on some cards from Khans, but feel that may be too strong on commons. Prowess is already evergreen too.

Instant
Target creature gets +2/+2 until end of turn. Cunning — If you've cast another noncreature spell this turn, prevent all damage that would be dealt to that creature this turn.
I'd like to try to design another mechanic or ability word that cares if you cast a noncreature spell or maybe if the top card of your library is a noncreature card or just something that involves noncreature cards in some way shape or form.
Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks, I like Cunning too and it seems to have good synergy with Prowess.
All I need now is to design another ability similar to it. I'm starting on the second set of the block and need a new ability that fits Jeskai colors and makes noncreature spells matter.
1: Prowess is evergreen. Even though Prowess is in Jeskai colors, it's Blue primary, Red secondary, and White tertiary. This means that in a full set it wouldn't appear on more than 3-4 cards in White. So, to use it as a mechanic for 3 - 4 commons 2 - 3 uncommons and 1 - 2 rares wouldn't fit. It would be like putting Trample on 3 - 4 Black commons.
