A while ago I noticed that other than Cephalid Coliseum and Cephalid Sage there was no card draw with threshold. Among other cards like some Rootgrapple style cantrips, I made this more straight forward card that I worried might be too good:
Ancient DreamsU Sorcery (U)
Draw a card. Threshold — Draw two cards instead if seven or more cards are in your graveyard.
The difference between seven cards in your graveyard for threshold and twenty cards in any graveyard for the suped-up Visions of Beyond is a lot while playing the game, so I'm still unsure if this is too good or which of the two is better.
I made nearly the same card silvercut, except mine was Ancestral Insight and drew 3 cards with threshold.
And I forgot about this: Danala Leaftender
Legendary Creature – Elf Druid Nativity – Whenever a forest comes into play, add to your mana pool.
2/2
Something I posted Sep '08. I was gonna base my set world in a superplane that envelops and "digests" other planes consequently leaving worlds crumbling in a great void etc etc, and anyways, Landfall Nativity was a resulting mechanic. It received a cold reception - AKA no input. So I felt vindicated when Landfall debuted a year later and received a warm welcome from players and the highest praise from MaRo and the rest of the R&D team. Anyways, there were other Nativity cards, but Danala kinda reminded me of Lotus Cobra in particular.
Oh yeah, I also made Wither with Phyrexian flavor (before Wither even). Funny cuz I'm a fan of poison from the old days even, so I'm always dabbling with some poison/poison counter mechanics but never thought to combine "Phthisis" with poisonous. Once I wrapped my imagination around WotC's implementation of Infect, I was pretty happy to see it as the Phyrexian mechanic, whereas I never liked the flavor of Wither. I thought it should have been Phyrexian or Gothic/Vampiric. (As a side note, in all fairness there is at least one other person that designed a mechanic just like Phthisis/Wither before me.)
I care less about us making mistakes that lead to degenerate environments than I am when we don’t push ourselves and make something that’s boring to play. - MaRo
This thread is totally BS, anybody could come here and say the invented Tundra, FoW and Tarmogoyf. Yes I know everybody says "In my version it had bla bla" but still, this is ridiculous. Yes, someone might be telling the truth, but I bet 95% of posts in this thread are full of lies. Im not calling anybody a liar, no no, Im just saying, this is as good of a thread as the one where ppl brag on what cards they got from boosters. But then again, if you think of it that way, ALL threads on every single forum in the internet are total BS, 'cos ppl can be whoever they want to and say whatever they want to on the internet, which makes my post totally stupid and whiney. Whatever.
EDIT: The pimp thread makes sense, since you can post pics to prove yourself. Whereas no one can proof that they invented this and that.
My card didn't have a name but I got the cost and effect right :P... The card only was made because of chapin making us guess his darn blue card that could "warp the format as we speak." I guessed it in his facebook guessing game... I was wrong on his card but right on another

Unless of course they posted it somewhere In the set I have linked in my sig that I worked on ages ago I had a version of Turn Aside that was different only in name. Someone in the thread told me it was busted beyond belief and Wizards would never print it
Technically that doesn't really work, because that was alreadyanestablishedability. You just gave it a name. A different one to WotC, so I don't really... meh. Shouldn't be nitpicky :|

While this isn't exactly a card, I was submitting a set for the Great Designer Search 2 about the Thran vs. Yawgmoth. It looks hilariously like Scars (which was the following set) and I even had the whole Combine the Symbols gag and had the last set with just a Phyrexian Symbol. None of the cards were similar, but a few of the mechanics were vaguely reminiscent (to be expected in a Phyrexians vs. Machinery block).
Evil Twin :3mana::symb::symb:
Creature - Shapeshifter (R)
0/0
You may have Evil Twin enter the battlefield as a copy of any creature on the battlefield. If you do, put a -1/-1 counter on the creature Evil Twin copies.
I have hoping for a straight green Triangle of War sorcery for a long time. I had mine for 2G and sliding back and forth between uncommon and rare. Even a interesting green creature that could do it freely without red mana or without a restriction like Durkwood Tracker would be cool. Living Inferno, Stalking Yeti, Magus of the Arena, Hateflayer, and Cyclops Gladiator are all in different ways a little disappointing as red cards because red can do better than Tracker damage, but they would have been pretty amazing as green cards. Master of the Wild Hunt and Predatory Urge were hopeful steps into this mechanic in modern design, but were a little slow/costly and didn't lead to any further cards. The spoiled Werewolf Daybreak Ranger//Nightfall Predator was incredibly disappointing that it needed red mana. Then...
OMG ... MONOGREEN Fight ... One mana! ... Common!
Obviously it can't be on too many green cards in any given environment, but hopefully this will end the arguments against monogreen custom cards with Tracker damage.

I had mine costed at 2G too. I guess I'm okay with giving green a bit of a buff, but I'm going to have to see how a one-mana version plays before I give it my support.
I first made it long before Soul's Fire, so I can understand it now being less than three mana, but it is really the common symbol I find most surprising. I guess it follows "off color" cards like Ice Cage, Entangling Vines, and Arachnus Web with a realization that every color should have common answers for limited's sake.
Rebuke. Reverse Vanquish is an obvious design and stronger most of the time.
Spectral Rider. Mine was part of a White Knight/Black Knight cycle both with "first strike, intimidate". Maybe first strike is too good, but I liked the way that two cards with the same abilities could play really differently because of the different colors.
Village Bell-Ringer. Similar but with tokens in my Command cycle. I think I like this common creature better.
Community Command1WW Instant (R)
Choose two — Put two 1/1 white Soldier creature tokens onto the field; or untap all creatures you control; or creatures you control get +1/+1 until end of turn; or creatures you control gain protection from the color of your choice until end of turn.
Maro Champion4GG Creature - Elemental Warrior (R)
Trample
You have no maximum hand size.
CARDNAME’s power and toughness are each equal the number of cards in your hand.
Whenever CARDNAME deals combat damage to a player, you may draw a card.
*/*
SpookB Instant (C)
As an additional cost to cast CARDNAME, exile a creature card with power X from your graveyard.
Target creature gets -X/-1 until end of turn.
Unbreathing Horde. Trying to make a Mortivore variation based on the Castlevania boss Legion and stumbling upon Phantom Centaur's ability as a flavorful replacement to regeneration. It is not Zombie tribal like Soulless One, but really similar. Seeing this at 2B makes me wonder if mine has a little too much back mana in the cost, although I still kind of like that.
Legion of the DeadBBB Creature - Zombie (R)
CARDNAME’s power and toughness are each equal to the number of creature cards in your graveyard.
If damage would be dealt to CARDNAME, prevent that damage and exile a creature card from your graveyard.
*/*
Ashmouth Hound. Not this exact mana cost and P/T combination, but a lot of people have probably made cards with this ability anyway.
Bramblecrush. I called that they would eventually be making a straight noncreature version of Creeping Mold a long time ago. I'm still highly confused when other player's are offended that green gets this kind of effect.
Ranger's Guile. From before hexproof was keyworded, then using my keyword veil for what is now hexproof:
VeilG Instant (C)
Target creature gets +1/+1 and gains hexproof until end of turn.
Double-Edged Sword(2/R)(2/R) Artifact - Equipment (U)
If equipped creature would deal combat damage, it deals double that damage instead.
If another creature would deal combat damage to equipped creature, it deals double that damage to equipped creature instead.
Equip 2
Lock Horns2G
Sorcery (U)
Target creature you control and target creature an opponent controls each deals damage equal to its power to the other.
Of course, if they do, they will probably make it rare like Soul's Majesty. :shrugs:
I just happened to be reading through this thread from the beginning, and saw the above post; I was going to mention it, and it looks like I got beaten to the punch!
I basically did Ashmouth Hound, Curse of the Pierced Heart, and Mask of Avacyn. The only difference between them and the ones you can find in the musing thread (see below in sig), are costs and +0/+1 in the Mask's case. Note that I don't count creature types here for the sake of difference.
Hound vs. Me - Difference of 1. Stats/ability were both spot on.
Mask vs. Me - Difference of 1 again. My cost was 3 with equip 3 and it gave +1/+1 and hexproof (instead of +1/+2 and hexproof). I even called it Ring of Warding. HMM!
Curse vs. Me - Different of 1 yet again, but also I said it should be uncommon, due to Draft concerns.
Wizards stole Sheoldred and Skinshifter from me =(
Two weeks before Sheoldred was spoiled I played a trick on my brother saying she was and told him she was 3BBB for a 6/6 Intimidate, at the begining of your upkeed each player sacrifices a creature then put a creature from your graveyard onto the battlefield.
As for Skinshifter a while ago I made a cool vampire card.
Alucard's Chosen 2B
Creature-- Vampire 0: Alucard's Chosen becomes your choice of a 2/2 Wolf with Haste and First Strike
a 1/1 Bat with Flying and B: gets +1/+1 until eot, or a 1/8 Fog with defender, infect and flying.
Sphinx is really good. Control will play it and be able to protect him just fine, hes a much better finisher then Jwar Isle and thats saying a lot considering how good he alone is. Bazzar Trader.dec now has 16 threaten effects. Thats really, really, really, really good. Really good.
I was browsing some old threads - in one, after all the Conflux card names leaked, we were playing a guessing game to figure out what the cards did based on their names, and, well:
Exploded Borders - 2RR
Sorcery
Destroy target land. Exploded Borders does X damage to that land's controller, where X is the number of lands in that player's graveyard.
Worldwake didn't come out until a year later with Roiling Terrain.
