Skullpick -
Artifact (R)
:?mana:, T: Target opponent reveals his or her hand. You choose a card from it. That player discards that card. EDIT: Activate this ability only during your turn.
Overpowered discard sucks, so I'm not looking for something that will blow up the tournament scene. But playable at least in casual would be nice. What mana cost and what activation cost is fair? and :4mana:?
Unravel - XB
Instant (C)
Exile target creature with X toughness.
It hasn't been done, and I'm not sure why.
Naturalizer - 3GG
Creature - Human Wizard (U)
When Naturalizer enters the battlefield, destroy target noncreature permanent.
3/3
Just a variant of other such cards already in print. Possible suitable for a Core Set.
Because it feels weird and counterintuitive that it doesn't work together with damage. Disintegrate (and Red Sun's Zenith, but it has an additional ability) was this card done more correctly.
Yeah, but his card hits indestructible creatures as well, and isn't affected by damage modifiers (Furnace of Rath + Stuffy Doll as an example).
In most cases it's similar to Disintegrate and Red Sun's Zenith, but it's just a bit different in both flavor AND function. I like it.
I like Skullpick alot. R&Doom seems to have it right.

Skullpick - Nonland restrictions are usually only added to discard effects that can be used reliably within the first couple turns, so this doesn't really need that. Sorcery speed or only during your turn is good though.
I don't think there is a price that would be both fair and competitively playable. Without any testing, 3 and 4 might be okay. But the repetitive Nightmare Void also costs four mana, so maybe this should be 3 and 5.
Or maybe 3 and "3, Discard a card" to spellshape a colorless Coercion? A variation on that would be a more versatile "Look at target player's hand. You may choose a card from it. If you do, that player discards that card, then draws a card." That could go easily for 3 and 3 and could even drop the sorcery/turn restriction because you can't use that to lock out a player.
Unravel - Black doesn't usually get exile effects. It has had Disembowel at that cost, and a simplified Sickening Shoal would definitely be okay at that cost. It could be a nice mirror to Untamed Might at common.
Naturalizer - This is a little odd as a Human. I like the flavor of Elephants and other larger beasts crushing a permanent that this kind of larger creature card usually gets.
As mentioned, it doesn't need "nonland" because it can't be activated easily in the first turn or two of the game, and I prefer less wording over more wording, so I'm not going to add it.
I think that restriction is optional since using Skullpick as a lock would be very expensive and disruptable, but in this case I think you're right - I'll add it.
On a card meant to do something repeatedly (in this case, Distress), it's the cost you pay every turn (the activation cost) that matters. The casting cost only matters once, and should really only be considered as an additional cost to the first activation, essentially. to get the first activation is pretty high. Heck, if the activation cost is gonna be 5, I would probably want to go with or even :0mana:. I don't think I could see it costing more than if the activation cost is :5mana:, but I don't think any cost would make that version playable in casual, do you? to play and to use made some sense to me, but obviously and is stronger. Perhaps it would need some playtesting.

But not a Wizard who can destroy things with magic? Why is "Death by Crush!" the only way for green to dispel an aura or ruin a land? Green has magic too!
Naturalizer shouldn't hit planeswalkers, if you ask me. Planeswalkers are just dudes like any creature.
Well then, players are just dudes like any creature, too. Fact is, "planeswalker" is a different card type than "creature", and it's okay for a spell to affect one but not the other. Instants are just faster Sorceries, and yet some cards affect one but not the other, like Anarchist. Mold Shambler, Rootgrapple, Terastodon, Woodfall Primus, Chain of Acid, Beast Within, and others show that green gets this effect very regularly for the past few years.

Wait a second, there ARE black cards that exile creatures (and other permanents). Faceless Butcher, Eradicate, Unmake, and Nemesis Trap are some Modern-legal examples of monoblack cards that "exile target creature". It can't be said that black isn't able to do it. Half are uncommon, and half are common, so it can't even be said that it has to be a rare/mythic effect.
Sure black likes to meddle with the graveyard and therefore usually doesn't exile, and it's usually saved for white because exiling is more a white effect, but it exiles.

I wasn't saying that there aren't any black spells that exile creatures. My W vs B literally meant spells that require only one W or one B to cast. All of your examples require BB to cast, even the trap ability cost is BB.
It's not that I think this effect can't be B, I just think that it's stealing from W. It would make for a better W spell or an even better (W/B) spell.

That's a good counter-point. I concede the argument.

On the subject of costs, I think 3 to play is good.
I don't know if this is as simple as you want, but my first thought for activation was 7, minus 1 for each card in that opponent's hand.
Interested in Custom Card Creation.

The closest we've come to this card has been Sickening Shoal - an additional in exchange for the alternate casting cost.
I don't think so, but that would be a very different card.
