One of the things that pushes auras is creatures that attempt to negate some of the drawbacks of auras. These are fine if there are good Auras to abuse, but too often you have the cool creature and he's got nothing to wear.

Icy Wings 2U
Enchantment - Aura
Enchant creature
Enchanted creature gets +3/+3 and has flying.
Whenever enchanted creature deals damage to a player, sacrifice Icy Wings. Refit - Whenever a creature you control becomes enchanted, you may return Icy Wings in your graveyard to the battlefield enchanting that creature.
To make auras fun and playable in constructed they need:
1) To be powerful as the creatures today (undercosted, with awesome abilities)
2) Some of them need to have recursion (Like Rancor)
3) Some of them need Shroud.
4) Some of them need to cantrip.
5) Some of them need to make your opponent in danger of losing (The aura need to make it by himself)
6) Some of them need to have etb abilities.
7) And finally, They are all need to be flavorful.
For examples:
1) Powerful aura:
Vampire Embrace :symb::symb:
Enchantment - Aura (Uncommon)
Enchant creature
Enchant creature get +4/+2 and has lifelink.
Wizards Embrace :symu::symu:
Enchantment - Aura (Uncommon)

Enchant creature
Enchant creature has shroud and has :symtap:: Draw a card.
4) Cantrip:
Fire Will
Enchantment - Aura (Common)
Enchant creature
When Fire Will enters the battlefield, draw a card.
Enchanted creature has First Strike and Haste.
(You see? this aura is not so powerful, so the cantrip push it a little. without cantrip - this is useless)
5) "Deal with me fast or die":
Baneslayers Embrace (I have to lol :)) :2mana::symw::symw:
Enchantment - Aura (Rare)
Enchant creature
Enchanted creature has flying, first strike, lifelink, and protection from Demons and from Dragons.
6) ETB:
Rune of Strength :2mana::symg::symg:
Enchantment - Aura (Uncommon)
Enchant creature
When Rune of Strength enters the battlefield, you may put two +1/+1 counters on target creature.
Enchanted creature gets +2/+2.
7) Flavorful:
(Well, they don't must to be flavorful, but some people really like flavorful cards (like me :)))

I'm predicting:
abilities on the Aura itself, à la Flowstone Embrace; activated switch abilities, à la Arcanum Wings; auras that give global effects, à la Emblem of the Warmind; at least one forum member incredibly angry with the frequency of "à la" in this post.
Flash would make almost every aura awesome, so let's hope they implement that.
