Designer bio: I usually start designing cards in a vacuum. When working on a set, I usually derive the world from what I need for the cards. If I want to make a merfolk card, merfolk need to exist in the world. If I come up with more than a few enchant land cards, needless to say, the land should play a big part in the world. In short, the world has to fit the cards, not the other way around.
Currently working on: Magistra Set description: I designed about a third of the cards, so I have no firm idea where this is going yet. I have this idea it's going to be a world where tidal influence plays a big role in the everyday lives of the plane's inhabitants. The ebb and flow of magical power defines the flavor of the day, and you'll see that the mechanics reflect this. Other natural phenomena occur on the plane, that reflect the tides on land. For example, on and off again, the Foxfire Woods are draped in a mysterious mist that faintly glows with red and green mana. I haven't thought much further than that though. Mechanics: Flux, provoke, reprise, scry, mini-charms.
I borrowed this ability from Photic_Scion, but changed the reminder text to fit better with my idea of the world. The flavor was a too good a fit with the tidal influence to pass it up, and I was happy Photic_Scion was curteous enough to let me use it. I might have to rename it later on though, to better fit the flavor of the set. Anyway, thanks again Photic_Scion!
Appears on: Artifacts, creatures, enchantments, and lands. Reminder text:(At the beginning of your upkeep, if there are no flux counters on this, put a flux counter on this. Otherwise remove all flux counters from this.)
A known mechanic, but I was looking for a way to put soft creature removal in green. I really like the provoke mechanic, but since everybody already knows it, I'll not bore you with further elaboration
Appears on: Creatures, and possibly on other cards that grant the ability to creatures. Reminder text:(When this attacks, you may have target creature defending player controls untap and block it if able.)
I was intrigued by the Kamigawa epic spells, but it bothered me that they wouldn't let you cast another spell for the rest of the game. I tweaked epic to work only once, on your next upkeep, et voila, a new ability was born! It fits great with the tidal flavor of the set so far.
Appears on: Instants and sorceries. Reminder text:(At the beginning of your next upkeep, copy this spell except for its reprise ability. You may choose new targets for the copy.)
I included this ability to diversify blue's library manipulation. I don't intend to use scry in other colors than blue.
Appears on: Any card. Reminder text: (To scry 1, look at the top card of your library, then you may put that card on the bottom of your library.) and (To scry N, look at the top N cards of your library. Put any number of them on the bottom of your library in any order and the rest on top in any order.)
As a final nod to the theme I included two horizontal cycles of mini-charms. Most of them offer either a big effect with a single target, or a smaller effect with multiple targets. Some cards break the mold of course, but I really like these cards. They give you a little choice each time you play them and add that tiny bit of choice I do so like in magic.
Appears on: Instants and sorceries at common, creatures at uncommon. Reminder text: Well, since this is not really an ability, there is obviously no reminder text for this ability.
I thought I'ld start this off by showing you a card for each keyword (reprise and scry get to team up).
Grim Wraith3B
Creature - Wraith (U)
Flux (At the beginning of your upkeep, if there are no flux counters on this, put a flux counter on this. Otherwise remove all flux counters from this.)
As long as there is a flux counter on Grim Wraith, it has swampwalk. Otherwise it has intimidate.
3/3
Decoy Fodder2R
Creature - Goblin Scout (U)
Haste, provoke, provoke
1/1
Inspire2U
Instant (C)
Scry 1, then draw a card. (To scry 1, look at the top card of your library, then you may put that card on the bottom of your library.)
Reprise (At the beginning of your next upkeep, copy this spell except for its reprise ability. You may choose new targets for the copy.)
Weaponry Master3WW
Creature - Human Soldier (U)
First strike
When Weaponry Master enters the battlefield, choose one — Put two +1/+1 counters on Weaponry Master; or put a +1/+1 counter on each other creature you control.
2/2
Whether you like them or not, I'ld be happy with some feedback. Also, please keep coming back, I'll try to add new cards regularly for you to criticize
I really like these cards. I also stole Flux for a set I'm building, but don't tell anyone...
Weaponry Master should put three +1/+1 counters on itself, or it should limit the number of creatures it puts +1/+1 counters on.
I love Decoy Fodder. Goblins for the win!
Inspire is a very nice peice of design. I like the way it costs the same as Divination, but is slightly better because of Scry, but slightly worse because of Reprise.
Grim Wraith is again a very nice piece of design. You could build a very interesting cycle of cards using a similar set of other-color hate.
If your whole set is made up of cards like these, I plan to come back here often.
grim wraith - neat idea, but it's basically just a 3/3 unblockable isn't it?
decoy fodder - I LOVE the double provoke. excellent!
inspire - this seems incredibly good. After you pay 2U once, you get a personal howling mine + scry every turn? No way. I think you need to be very careful about the abilities and costs of your reprise spells, and also have enough graveyard hate for other decks to deal with these things.

Thanks And I won't tell anyone
I do think three +1/+1 counters is a bit too much for the Weaponry Master. That would make it a 5/5 first strike at uncommon, a bit too much above the curve for my likings. I think it's plenty strong at 4/4. Or a 2/2 that boosts the rest of your team by handing out weapons of course (I wonder how he'ld rig an insect though...)
grim wraith - neat idea, but it's basically just a 3/3 unblockable isn't it?
Only half of the time. Vs black decks the intimidate shouldn't do much, and vs nonblack decks swampwalk should be a useless ability. I like how these abilities are apparently at odds with each other and create an inherent tension on the card.

I think you misread reprise. Unlike epic, a spell with reprise only copies itself once, on your next upkeep. Also, graveyard hate won't help, because reprise simply sets up a delayed trigger, that will go off whether or not the card with reprise is in your graveyard.
Anyway, the goblin is the clear winner for now Thanks for the positive feedback so far!
Thats four people who have claimed to take flux from me in the last week. I guess people really liked it.
It's a popular mechanic. It pops up from time to time; you aren't the first to use it by a long shot. But all these at once probably are no coincidence.
New cards! I thought I'ld show you some uncommons this time
Ballista Bolt
Instant (U)
Ballista Bolt deals 2 damage to target attacking or blocking creature.
^I'm probably not the first who came up with this. Everybody wants the white shock after all
One with the Void1U
Instant (U)
Draw two cards if you have no cards in hand.
^Well, this is it. This is what you blue mages wanted! Cheap instant card draw for multiple cards!
Putromancer2BB
Creature - Zombie Shaman (U)
When Putromancer enters the battlefield, choose one -- Return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand; or each player puts a creature card from his or her graveyard onto the battlefield.
2/2
^A new and improved Gravedigger. I imagine this is good enough to see constructed play?
Furnace Lizard1R
Creature - Lizard (U)
When Furnace Lizard enters the battlefield, add RRR to your mana pool.
:symr:: Furnace Lizard gets +1/+0 until end of turn.
0/1
^This is probably my favorite of today. This looks good on paper in red aggro decks.
Leafweaver1G
Creature - Dryad (U)
Forestwalk
When Leafweaver enters the battlefield, search your library for a basic land card and reveal that card. Shuffle your library, then put the card on top of it.
2/1
^I like the subtle mana-fixing power of this card, very dryad-like.
Ballista Bolt
Instant (U)
Ballista Bolt deals 2 damage to target attacking or blocking creature.
I'm not the best fan of white getting blocker hate. I would much rather this be to an attacking creature, but that's just me.
One with the Void1U
Instant (U)
Draw two cards if you have no cards in hand.
Really really strong. I would be careful with other draw or discard stuff in your set if you are going to include this.
Putromancer2BB
Creature - Zombie Shaman (U)
When Putromancer enters the battlefield, choose one -- Return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand; or each player puts a creature card from his or her graveyard onto the battlefield.
2/2
I like this guy a lot. Nothing more to say.
Furnace Lizard1R
Creature - Lizard (U)
When Furnace Lizard enters the battlefield, add RRR to your mana pool.
:symr:: Furnace Lizard gets +1/+0 until end of turn.
0/1
Permanents that give bursty looking mana scare me a little bit, especially when they net 1 mana. Make sure to avoid any card that looks like this:
Return a creature you control to it's owner's hand: [small effect].
That could get broken really fast. As it stands without that, its pretty cool. I don't like how the effect contends with the ability though. This creature desperately wants haste so it can use that burst when it comes in, seems like a bit of a waste otherwise.
Leafweaver1G
Creature - Dryad (U)
Forestwalk
When Leafweaver enters the battlefield, search your library for a basic land card and reveal that card. Shuffle your library, then put the card on top of it.
2/1
Does not need to be uncommon. Borderland Ranger is a 2/2 for 1 more and it puts it into your hand rather than on top of your library. Borderland Ranger is also a common.
Putromancer2BB
Creature - Zombie Shaman (U)
When Putromancer enters the battlefield, choose one -- Return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand; or each player puts a creature card from his or her graveyard onto the battlefield.
2/2
Your "mini-charm" cycle really does seem like it'd be a lot better with entwine. That said, I see no reason to print a card like this. If anything, make it the latter ability only and have graveyard removal stuff...
Furnace Lizard1R
Creature - Lizard (U)
When Furnace Lizard enters the battlefield, add RRR to your mana pool.
:symr:: Furnace Lizard gets +1/+0 until end of turn.
0/1
He needs haste so he can use his own mana. And I'd prefer a 1/1 for 1R.
Leafweaver1G
Creature - Dryad (U)
Forestwalk
When Leafweaver enters the battlefield, search your library for a basic land card and reveal that card. Shuffle your library, then put the card on top of it.
2/1
If it has forestwalk, he should tutor for a FOREST. Also it should be optional. Also it's functionally better than too many cards I think,

Entwine still isn't going to happen I've settled on this set's keywords, and there is no need to add even more. The reason to print the card like this is to give you options. If your opponent's has a better creature than you, you might just want to use this as a Gravedigger. If you have the better creature you might want to use the Exhume ability. If you suspect your opponent has a removal spell ready though, you might want to go for the Gravedigger ability after all... I agree though, graveyard removal stuff is going to happen. There is another really strong reanimation card in the set...

Wouldn't haste be too good on this? That's the reason I didn't put it on here. If you think I can get away with it though, that would make this card even sweeter!
There is a common in the set that grants haste though, which would tag along with this very well.
@Photic_Scion: I'm avoiding cards like that anyway, that's asking for trouble!

Oh man, you two are divided on this! I'll take a bit from both comments though, to totally improve this card and give it more flavor. Take this!
Leafweaver1G
Creature - Dryad (U)

Memory issues and ugly IMO. Your first one was a much better design.
Memory issues and ugly IMO. Your first one was a much better design.
Hmm... I liked it I'll use that idea somewhere else though! Still, I need to connect these ideas and juice up the card a bit, or otherwise it doesn't feel like an uncommon. New idea:

^Not a particularly powerful card, but I really like it. It's funny
Ballista Bolt deals 3 damage to target attacking creature.
What do you think, better?
I think I'd rather play both the substandard white planeshift lightningbolt AND any number of swords to plowshares variants over this.
So let me ask you something - are you trying to design cards people won't like for your fantasy card set? Because I have enough trouble with WOTC doing this. You've got all the time in the world so if you want to design a limited-only card that won't affect contructed, why don't you do a multiplayer variant? Or at least make it playable in one obscure/odd constructed deck (think Dragonstorm, but less good).
Remember, white already has the power to put an attacking creature on the bottom of its owner's library. This is just insulting.
I've settled on this set's keywords, and there is no need to add even more.
No "need" as in "WOTC won't fire you if you don't bother adding a new keyword" or no "need" as in "there is no reason to"? Because there are plenty of reasons to. #1 reason? It increases the utility of the cards; even thought the cards are overcosted!
The reason to print the card like this is to give you options.
No. The reason to print this card is that you can't decide between two very similar abilities. Flexibility is awesome. Near-same flexibility is odd, but sometimes neat. But when you're putting it on a 2/2 for 4, it's clear you're not interested in the flexibility, rather you're apparently interested in shoving as much stuff on a card as possible. It's super-ineligant.
Wouldn't haste be too good on this? That's the reason I didn't put it on here. If you think I can get away with it though, that would make this card even sweeter!
Maybe make it cost RR so it's like a ball lightning variant...

Happy? Now it deck-thins and gives you reason to run 1-of of all lands even in a mono-colored deck.
I think I'd rather play both the substandard white planeshift lightningbolt AND any number of swords to plowshares variants over this.
What you would rather play is often not going to be the major draw in designing cards. Would you rather play [Insert a huge list of 5 cost white creatures] over Caravan Hurda? Why yes I would, but that doesn't mean that the Hurda saw print by accident. Not every card is going to be cool, game changing or even very powerful in certain settings. If this set is low on white removal this card could be very useful in limited. While I could say "Path to Exile > This" that would be dumbing down design far too much.

This is just offensive and clearly not helpful.
Remember, white already has the power to put an attacking creature on the bottom of its owner's library. This is just insulting.
Same
Then maybe substandard modal spells shouldn't be a theme of the set.

Keywords are often limited to specific sets for specific reasons. While it would be cool to take the best from every set and toss them all into your new ultra-cool custom set with nine or ten old set-only keywords and a half dozen of your own, it loses cohesion and ends up looking like a hodge-podge of random cards rather than a set.
No. The reason to print this card is that you can't decide between two very similar abilities. Flexibility is awesome. Near-same flexibility is odd, but sometimes neat. Both interesting mid-range come into play abilities on creatures that don't seem that off. Orzhov even has a pretty similar dualistic feel to it (animate v return to hand)
Also, try to avoid things like "It is clear you are just trying to [insert insult here]" That is not constructive in the least.
Maybe make it cost RR so it's like a ball lightning variant...
Closest thing to helpful you have come.
You mean there's a card that will never see play in your set at the common slot, thus making us all envy benidiction of moons? No thanks.
Yes, he means there are more cards in his set that he is alluding to before sharing in its entirety. No, you do not have to be insulting on the cards you have already seen as well as ones you haven't seen yet.

It also functions signifigantly differently by making the landwalk mutable and not allowing for any form of accelerant (which is what his card is looking to do). While this is more constructive than the rest of your post, it is still offensive. Please try to keep the malice to a minimum.

I'm not going to debate you on my tone. If you're interested in seeing if your card is functionally inferior to other cards, research other cards. I will assume you've done such research, and thus if you give me the following card:
Shocking 1R
Instant
This deals 2 damage to target creature.
I'm going to assume that you decided to make it functionally inferior than dozens of fair/ballanced cards. And you're not gonna get any points for it.
That said, it's clear he's trying to do too much with his cards. As far as I can tell, half of his cards are modal spells that give only 2 options. He puts these same near-identicle options on creatures now, and he has other cards that do 2 or more either near-identicle, or unrelated things in over-complicated ways.
So the question is this: Does he want to accelerate you? Or does he want to give you a forestwalker? I see no reason why these two need to be on the same card unless you're trying to do something interesting. Like that 2/1 w/ forestwalk who tutored a forest for any player.
The card I constructed captured the "you choose the landwalk" ability without the memory issues. As far as I can tell, he has other spells for actually tutoring lands. And given that he's high on shuffle-effects as is, it's trouble.
Good, it shouldn't be a debate. It should be an apology.

I think what you are going for here is the thought of "Strictly better" but that is a rather hard thing to pull on someone unless it is completely true and there is context to support it. A lot can be said about something very similar to what you brought up when you compare Shock to Lightning Bolt and Cancel to Counterspell. They are changes, but not inherently bad cards. They are signals that WOTC wants burn to be stronger and hard counters to be weaker. That doesn't mean it was a mistake to print both cards or that we will never see Counterspell or Shock again, it is just a change.
That said, it's clear he's trying to do too much with his cards. As far as I can tell, half of his cards are modal spells that give only 2 options. All choices don't have to be polar opposites. But you consider this to be not enough difference for each card and that is your opinion. I respect that.
So the question is this: Does he want to accelerate you? Or does he want to give you a forestwalker? I see no reason why these two need to be on the same card unless you're trying to do something interesting. Like that 2/1 w/ forestwalk who tutored a forest for any player.
Why does it need to be on different cards? Flavorfully they can both fit on without being a huge issue. Leafweaver implies an extremely strong connection to nature or ability to change it to its will. Having Forestwalk seems to fit it fairly well. Green also has a strong tradition of land search, so it doesn't seem too far fetched to be the purpose or the role that this card fulfills. Flavorfully: The Forestwalk part is "what it is" and the land search is "what it does". I don't see how that is much of a stretch.
The card I constructed captured the "you choose the landwalk" ability without the memory issues. As far as I can tell, he has other spells for actually tutoring lands. And given that he's high on shuffle-effects as is, it's trouble.
Yes yours does not have memory issues and yes it seems like a more elegant version than his blue card. I'm not saying you are bad at your job or that you are wholey inaccurate in your assessments, I am just saying you could be less abrasive about your opinions is all.
Good, it shouldn't be a debate. It should be an apology.
Apology accepted.
If you get caught up in the tone of what someone says, instead of the content of one's words, then you're asking for the forked-tongued to lead you astray.
My tone is no business of yours unless I overstep my bounds and say something false. Either what I say is true or false, and that is all that matters if I'm complimenting your work or critiquing it. Anything less and you're not asking for honesty, you're asking for pitty.

Please read the Forum Rules, specifically post 3. This isn't about one person's dislike of what you're saying, it's about following the standards of the community you're participating in.
Guys! This is a thread where I post cards in order to get feedback, not a thread to discuss the politics of feedback.
SummonDinosaur, I appreciate feedback, but you are dangerously close to flaming and/or trolling. Your opinion does not give you the right to insult other people. If you want a more in-depth explanation of why I choose to do things the way I do, feel free to click the spoiler button.
Now, I am working on a set. It's far from finished, but I am posting what I have in this thread, a few cards at a time. The set is not meant to have the average power level of Wrath of God, so you're going to see some substandard cards. Designing a better Condemn is easy if you're not looking for balance, but I am. That's why my removal spell isn't as stellar as Path to Exile. In limited it will do just fine though, and it might even be good enough for constructed, depending on the meta. It is also an elegant card (something which you seem to value highly) that has never been done before.
I don't "bother" adding another keyword, because the set is already saturated with keywords. Zendikar has landfall, kicker, intimidate, and arguably traps (not really a keyword, but new nonetheless). I have flux, provoke, reprise, and scry. So, I see no reason to introduce yet more keywords. These mini-charms might seem uninteresting to you, but I also had a lot of positive feedback on them. So far, you've been the only one to express an avid dislike for this minor theme in my set. That's okay, there are probably no cards that please all players. If you dislike a card, you are free to say so, and explain why, but don't expect me to cater only to you.
With that out of the way, here are the updated and new cards I posted yesterday on which I still would like feedback. They kinda got lost in the discussion that was going on here.
Ballista BoltW
Instant (U)
Ballista Bolt deals 3 damage to target attacking creature.
^Obviously inferior to Path to Exile, I know that. I added this card mainly for limited play.
Leafweaver1G
Creature - Dryad (U)
Forestwalk
When Leafweaver enters the battlefield, you may search your library for a basic land card, reveal it, then shuffle your library and put that card on top of it. If you revealed a Forest card, put it into your hand instead.
^Photic_Scion called the first incarnation of this too weak, SummonDinosaur hated that it had forestwalk but didn't explicitely search for a Forest card. I tried to combine these two comments and make a card that both connected its two abilities, and feels worthy of the uncommon slot.
Soil Feeder3UU
Creature - Beast (U)
When Soil Feeder enters the battlefield, exile a land you control.
When Soil Feeder leaves the battlefield, return the exiled card to the battlefield under its owner’s control.
Soil Feeder has landwalk of the exiled card’s basic land types.
3/3
^I liked the mutable landwalk ability I had going on with my second incarnation of Leafweaver, so I decided to fiddle with it and came up with this. It certainly hasn't the same memory issues as my first card, and it's a nice filler uncommon that has something interesting going on I think. What do you think, could I upgrade it to "exile target land" or would that make it too good at 3UU?
Edit: Hmm... Ogre Arsonist says it's alright to have a 3/3 unc at CMC 5 destroy a land. Seeing that Soil Feeder gains landwalk of the removed card's basic land types, I'm still on the fence...
Edit: Hmm... Ogre Arsonist says it's alright to have a 3/3 unc at CMC 5 destroy a land. Seeing that Soil Feeder gains landwalk of the removed card's basic land types, I'm still on the fence...
I think thats apples to oranges given the fact that arsonist can kill stuff you don't control and your feeder hits your own land.
Well, at the cost of O-ringing one of your own lands, blue can get a Grizzly Bears.
I think a 3/3 for 3U would be fine, maybe even still a little on the weak side. You get a Giant Octopus body, and trade a land for landwalk.
For "exile target land" then I think you'd want to increase the cost or bring it down to a 2/2. Compared to Ogre Arsonist, the removal isn't permanent but you get a (usually) unblockable creature instead. Blue isn't as good as red at removing lands anyway.
Thanks, I'll make it 4UU then. It's always a challenge to design the more expensive cards, so I'm happy with a slight increase in mana cost.
New blue cards! One for each rarity.
Cloak of Inversion1U
Enchantment - Aura (C)
Flash
Enchant creature
Switch enchanted creature's power and toughness.
^I was surprised to find out this effect has never been done on a blue enchantment before!
CloudbustingXUU

I really, really like reprise. What a cool mechanic. Flux is awesome too, like Phasing only it makes sense. Is that yours or was it from that other thread? (Oh, I'll be checking out that thread.)
16 cards is a heck of a lot of cards. Then again, 8 is a heck of a lot of mana, so that's 2 cards per mana now, and a total of 4 cards per mana later. That should end you the game, barring Feldon's Cane et al.
Ocean: Yeah! I fully enjoy drawing a card every other turn.
Cloudbusting: Love the name. I don't really like blue getting this kind of damage. If its a wall, it should be a wall. Even if it's not quite a ball lightning creature, it can still end games in ways I don't think blue should end games. I suppose it would need some testing.
Cloak: Yes, I'm surprised too! I suppose flash would be necessary on a card like this too.
Thanks Pharmalade! I copied flux with Photic_Scion's permission and changed the reminder text. It works slightly different in my set, but the idea is still his.
I checked magic's history, and there is indeed no precendent for Cloudbusting. Also, giving defender would give it interesting synergy with another card in my set. I could probably lower the casting cost to XU as well then.

Set description: I designed about a third of the cards, so I have no firm idea where this is going yet.

2/2
Whether you like them or not, I'ld be happy with some feedback. Also, please keep coming back, I'll try to add new cards regularly for you to criticize

My Blog, currently working on series about my custom set Cazia.
Steam Trades - I play Dota 2, CS:GO, TF2, and trade cards heavily. Add me if you like.
decoy fodder - I LOVE the double provoke. excellent!
inspire - this seems incredibly good. After you pay 2U once, you get a personal howling mine + scry every turn? No way. I think you need to be very careful about the abilities and costs of your reprise spells, and also have enough graveyard hate for other decks to deal with these things.
It's a popular mechanic. It pops up from time to time; you aren't the first to use it by a long shot. But all these at once probably are no coincidence.

Creature - Dryad (U)
Forestwalk
When Leafweaver enters the battlefield, search your library for a basic land card and reveal that card. Shuffle your library, then put the card on top of it.

Does not need to be uncommon. Borderland Ranger is a 2/2 for 1 more and it puts it into your hand rather than on top of your library. Borderland Ranger is also a common.
Should be 3 damage. Heck, maybe make it deal 2 damage and prevent all damage that creature would deal in combat this turn?
Nice card.
Your "mini-charm" cycle really does seem like it'd be a lot better with entwine. That said, I see no reason to print a card like this. If anything, make it the latter ability only and have graveyard removal stuff...
He needs haste so he can use his own mana. And I'd prefer a 1/1 for 1R.
If it has forestwalk, he should tutor for a FOREST. Also it should be optional. Also it's functionally better than too many cards I think,
Let's marry these comments
Ballista Bolt
Instant (U)
Ballista Bolt deals 3 damage to target attacking creature.
What do you think, better?
There is no other good instant card draw in the set, and no way, yet, to discard cards at will.
Take this!
Leafweaver 1G
Creature - Dryad (U)
When Leafweaver enters the battlefield, you may search your library for a basic land card, reveal it, then shuffle your library and put that card on top of it.
If you revealed a card, Leafweaver has landwalk of that card’s land type.

Memory issues and ugly IMO. Your first one was a much better design.
Hmm... I liked it I'll use that idea somewhere else though! Still, I need to connect these ideas and juice up the card a bit, or otherwise it doesn't feel like an uncommon. New idea:
Leafweaver 1G
Creature - Dryad (U)
Forestwalk
When Leafweaver enters the battlefield, you may search your library for a basic land card, reveal it, then shuffle your library and put that card on top of it. If you revealed a Forest card, put it into your hand instead.

^Not a particularly powerful card, but I really like it. It's funny
Then maybe substandard modal spells shouldn't be a theme of the set.
No "need" as in "WOTC won't fire you if you don't bother adding a new keyword" or no "need" as in "there is no reason to"? Because there are plenty of reasons to. #1 reason? It increases the utility of the cards; even thought the cards are overcosted!
Maybe make it cost RR so it's like a ball lightning variant...
You mean there's a card that will never see play in your set at the common slot, thus making us all envy benidiction of moons? No thanks.
Memory issues, too much text, and landwalk because you're too lazy to ballance the format in such a way that avoids unfun unblockable creatures?
Traveler 1G
Creature - Dryad (U)
When ~ comes into play, search your library for a basic land card and exile it. Shuffle. As long as that land is exiled, ~ has the corresponding landwalk ability.
2/1[/QUOTE]
Happy? Now it deck-thins and gives you reason to run 1-of of all lands even in a mono-colored deck.
There's a difference between offering criticism and insulting someone. Don't cross that line. Try to be civil.
R Citizen Cane (Feldon of the Third Path)
What you would rather play is often not going to be the major draw in designing cards. Would you rather play [Insert a huge list of 5 cost white creatures] over Caravan Hurda? Why yes I would, but that doesn't mean that the Hurda saw print by accident. Not every card is going to be cool, game changing or even very powerful in certain settings. If this set is low on white removal this card could be very useful in limited. While I could say "Path to Exile > This" that would be dumbing down design far too much.
This is just offensive and clearly not helpful.
Same
Keywords are often limited to specific sets for specific reasons. While it would be cool to take the best from every set and toss them all into your new ultra-cool custom set with nine or ten old set-only keywords and a half dozen of your own, it loses cohesion and ends up looking like a hodge-podge of random cards rather than a set.
Orzhov Pontiff
Shivan Sand-Mage
Both interesting mid-range come into play abilities on creatures that don't seem that off. Orzhov even has a pretty similar dualistic feel to it (animate v return to hand)
Also, try to avoid things like "It is clear you are just trying to [insert insult here]" That is not constructive in the least.
Closest thing to helpful you have come.
-Photic
All choices don't have to be polar opposites. But you consider this to be not enough difference for each card and that is your opinion. I respect that.
Yes yours does not have memory issues and yes it seems like a more elegant version than his blue card. I'm not saying you are bad at your job or that you are wholey inaccurate in your assessments, I am just saying you could be less abrasive about your opinions is all.
-Photic
Apology accepted.
If you get caught up in the tone of what someone says, instead of the content of one's words, then you're asking for the forked-tongued to lead you astray.
My tone is no business of yours unless I overstep my bounds and say something false. Either what I say is true or false, and that is all that matters if I'm complimenting your work or critiquing it. Anything less and you're not asking for honesty, you're asking for pitty.
Please read the Forum Rules, specifically post 3. This isn't about one person's dislike of what you're saying, it's about following the standards of the community you're participating in.

SummonDinosaur, I appreciate feedback, but you are dangerously close to flaming and/or trolling. Your opinion does not give you the right to insult other people. If you want a more in-depth explanation of why I choose to do things the way I do, feel free to click the spoiler button.

^Photic_Scion called the first incarnation of this too weak, SummonDinosaur hated that it had forestwalk but didn't explicitely search for a Forest card. I tried to combine these two comments and make a card that both connected its two abilities, and feels worthy of the uncommon slot.
Soil Feeder 3UU
I think thats apples to oranges given the fact that arsonist can kill stuff you don't control and your feeder hits your own land.
