Volcanic Diffuser RR
Creature - Goblin Shaman (3/2 if at all tenable; otherwise 2/2)
If you would add red mana to your mana pool, add twice that much colorless mana to your mana pool instead. "I wrecked your ash deposits, boss. But look! Now you can make a metal guy!"
First things first, yes I know this is some good with Skyshroud Elf. I'm going to fall back on the Painter's Servant defense in this case: once you have to go so far back, there's such a minefield of potentially busted cards that even R&D likely doesn't mind consciously enabling a 2-carder for the Vintage and Legacy players.
This is one of those dubious abilities that's difficult to classify as a benefit or a drawback. In fact, this card has just about the most valuable "paint bucket" imaginable: if you put the ability at 1R, I'm pretty sure the creature has to be 1/1 or 0/1, if it's even printable at all. It just comes in as a red splash to turn your mountains into painless Ancient Tombs, so you can ramp up to some big guns. On the other hand, once you "paint in" the 1 as a second R, the splash is much less palatable (Skyshroud Elf aside), and as you can see from the current card, I've assessed it as a slight drawback, and an overall difficult-to-use card.
Decks can be multicolored, you know. RR is very easy to get in a deck these days, while still playing other spells.
This is very, very dangerous I feel. Needs testing. Also, no way is this a 3/2 for RR. This is a 2/2 or smaller.

Can we have Megiddo removed from the forum forever please?
i'm pretty sure i can find your ***** online within 3 minutes
3/2 for RR is way too powerful. 2/1 or 2/2 would be much better.
And while it's somewhat good, I don't think the ability is really Red. Red will do take fast mana at the sacrifice of the future. This isn't that type of ability for Red. While it's a good idea, it might be better in Green.
You could make it, "Whenever a land you control would be tapped for red mana, add twice the colorless mana to your mana pool instead," if you wanted to avoid a lot of the potential busting. It seems less interesting, but is probably a lot safer.
this is a very narrow card. you need to build a deck around it.
you can't play red spells after this. however, if you want to make the most out of it, you want a lot of mountains (or red producing lands). it's kind of like Corrupt -- sure, you can play it with a few swamps in your deck, but if you want to abuse it, you want as many swamps as possible.

Volcanic Diffuser: Hmm, an artifact red deck would love this. Maybe it should cost :symr::symr::symr:
Not sure if it can be worded this way, but can this also work?
"If you would add to your mana pool, add to your mana pool instead."
Which does absolutely nothing with this card, so... I'm not seeing it here.

Colourless mana comes FIRST! Try actually looking at a Magic card some time. It is NOT UU3, it's 3UU. What game are you making cards for?
I can no longer tell people to check their card names, because I am made of suck and fail.
It does let you continue to play other red spells, so that your Skyshroud Elf combo can lead up to a traditional Fireball rather than something white like Decree of Justice. Mycosynth Lattice can also take the place of the Sunglasses, and likely to even better effect.
The problem with wording it using mana symbols is that it can be confusing, and would require additional baggage at the rules level to handle it properly. Take Gruul Turf: "But I didn't add R, I added RG!"
With all the support for 2/2, I'm left to wonder what kind of deck would abuse the 3/2 version that wouldn't also break a 2/2. On the balance of things, the ability sounds like a drawback in the same sense as [card]Stampeding Wildebeests[card]' was, and since RR can certainly support 2/2 with benefits (it can probably support 3/1 too, though this has no backing in existing cards), there's nowhere to take it except 3/2. The big question is really "What would the deck use to keep the path clear so that Diffuser can continue to swing and have its power be relevant at all?"
I could see it as a 3/2 if it were also a Legendary creature, considering the pseudo-drawback -- if, and only if, the drawback worked with any color mana.
What does Legendary even do on this thing? Surely you're not planning on dropping a second one, since they're not cumulative and you'd have a devil of a time even coming up with the cost for the second without significant overhead.
I really like this card. It has so much Johnny Potential.
Turn 1: Mountain
Turn 2: Badlands, Volcanic Diffuser
Turn 3: Mountain, tap it for Rite of Flame (4 in pool), tap Badlands for Culling the Weak, saccing Diffuser, (4BBBB in pool) tap final mountain, (4BBBBR in pool), Dragonstorm, get three Hellkite Overlords fte.
Not that this is broken, it's just fun. I do think it should be 2/2, since I'd rather see people using it for the ability than just as some cheap aggro dude.
How are you playing the Rite of Flame off two colorless mana?
You're not, but if you play Culling the Weak first and THEN tap red for Rite of Flame, you get the effect he was going for.

The exact opposite. Locks you out of the game IF you are completely red.

We are: aware. That is why it feels so red.
Not sure if it can be worded this way, but can this also work?
"If you would add to your mana pool, add to your mana pool instead."

If it was legendary, in EDH it would be a red Rofellos for an artifact deck...
