In addition to the standard game thread (“Realspace”), there exists a separate thread representing Cyberspace. It functions much like a normal game, except a character is constrained by their imagination and technical ability rather than physical attributes. The act of moving from one realm to another is known as “Jacking”: you “Jack in” to get to Cyberspace, and you “Jack Out” to return to Realspace.
Each of these two sub games functions like a separate normal game with votes and lynches, days and nights. If a player dies in Realspace, they die; but if they “die” in Cyberspace, they are forced to jack out (“Banned”), return to Realspace and may not re-enter Cyberspace: nothing about their role or alignment is revealed. A player banned via lynch loses their vote for the remainder of that Realspace day.
However, each sub-game is separate from each other: a player can only be active in one world at a time. Players in Realspace can see the Cyberspace thread, but may not post to it. Players in Cyberspace cannot see or post in Realspace. In addition, a player who is in Cyberspace is still “in” the Realspace thread, but does not count towards lynch threshold and are particularly vulnerable to real-world actions. They can even be voted for and lynched like any other player, and can also be the target of Realspace abilities.
Cyberspace and the Real World have simultaneously running days and nights, but is primarily driven by Realspace. Once a lynch is reached in Realspace, night falls in both threads. He grabbed a pole and trudged out onto the platform, the metal clicking on his boots.He glanced into his records to find the way, thrust his hands into his jacket and tapped off into the shadows that edged in on the buzzing yellow glow that emanated from the Wire stop.
Passing through neon puddles, he glances up at the Roof. If you were out of it enough you might mistake those Level One lights for stars. Rich bastards. Weaving his way through, he doesn’t glance from across at the dive bars, unrestricted internet joints or shooting galleries, he just keeps and eye on the map floating in front of his iris and threads through. Psychological blinkers.
It’s going to be a pretty long walk, so he stops to light up a cigarette. He can only afford 40% Cannabis right now - he prefers higher tobacco content, but they cost more money. Seems like the Government latched onto a winner there. Stoned people tend not to cause trouble, even down here, they just shoot up, jack in, or sit in an alley and watch cartoons.
An unmistakable noise cracks through the humidified air. Then another. He raises his head, buzzing a little with the first toke and realises the gunshot came from the place he’s standing next to.
Eyes down. Move on. Get out.
As he rounds the corner he glances back to see a man with an unmistakable hand inside his jacket scanning the street.
Near miss, he thinks as he clicks away into the darkness.

The tension in the room seems to squeeze the breath out of the lungs of everyone standing there. Except the man twitching on the ground.
His fingers jerk around the handle of the revolver he had pulled out of his jacket and fired, moments before one of the men in suits had exposed the circuitry in his brain with a similar weapon.
You can hear his brain whirring as blood pools across the floor, gathering around shattered pieces of skull. The wire implanted in his ear crackles with feedback.
The men in suits still point their pistols at the juddering wreck on the floor. They nod at each other; one heads towards the door, wading through the silent, guppy-mouthed pieces of filth that were shooting up or jacking in to the unrestricted net that the bar was known for. He stands momentarily in the dirty chromed street before shaking his head at the other suited man, who strides over to the dying man and double-taps him in the chest.
Finally, the whirring stops.
He reaches down and extracts the man’s memory chip from the base of his brain stem. He inserts it into a small device which emerged from the depths of his jacket. He nods to the other. His face is grim. Government insignia.
The suited men move over to a third, larger man who is kneeling next to another body. The man the government agent shot. Their feet splash quietly in the spreading red ooze.
A hushed conversation. The larger man sighs.
“Do you know who I am?” He straightens up, brushing dirt off his knees and realigning his jacket. It looks expensive.
You know who he is. A communal murmur and nod ripple around the room. This is Slater. The dead man next to him is Capel . It’s hard not to know if you've been down to the Circuits any time in the last twelve years.
“And so you will know that it is tremendously important that you all cannot leave.” Wait - why? “I can have no misunderstandings.” He continues - the man holds the dense air in the room with his raised hands. “If word were to leave this room of Capel’s murder, the... agreement we are working towards would be undermined. Not to mention my personal safety.” A wimper.
Skin starts to itch.
He leans over to one of the suited men, who moves over towards the door, his pistol drawn. It sits in his hand, the barrel smiling towards the crowd. The other remains next to Slater, fingers clenched around the metal inside his jacket. His temples pulse as he clenches his jaw.
“Now, we know for a fact that I have been tailed for weeks by a team of government men.” He dabs at his brow with a dark piece of cloth before returning it to his jacket. The air in the crowd thickens. “We know that there is more than one agent on the team -”
He is cut off by a scream as a bedgraggled man, hands flailing sprints towards the door. Junkie. The suited man opens his skull with a simple click. The sound thunders around the bare room as the corpse collapses. The metal on his shirt clinks on the floor.
“Don’t even bother checking his chip” mutters Slater, holding up a vague hand to his guard. “The government can’t afford such good actors.” Another sigh. “As you see, you cannot leave until I am satisfied my problem has been dealt with. Because, you see, my problem is now your problem.”
He draws back to a dark corner, next to the bar. With a thunk he uncorks a bottle of scotch and pours a generous glass.
“Well then.” He says, returning the vacant stares of the assorted audience with minor annoyance, “find them.”
Day 1 has begun! With all 18 players in Realspace, it takes 10 votes to lynch!

Ambush Krotiq makes me laugh so much. I keep rereading the card and it keeps not having Flash. In what sense is this an ambush again? I just have visions of this huge Krotiq poorly concealed in some bushes, feeling slightly sad that his carefully planned ambushes never seem to work.
