We could always play the good old 3 Molder Beast, 2 Barrage Ogre, 1 Scrapmelter, 18 Artifacts deck
Actually Withstand Death is not terrible if we end up playing Green and play the Molder Beasts. So I might rather have 2 Molder Beast and 1 Withstand Death than 3 Molder Beasts. I don't think 3 Molder Beasts and 2 Barrage Ogre is that terrible though, as long as we have no more 5 drops after that.
wow, this table really hates Molder Beast. thats weird to me. its one of the better creatures in the format in my opinion. not hard to get it swinging for huge.
I think that is it for Molder Beasts. I took the potential SB card in Golem's Heart. It could gain us some life, turn on metalcraft, and then get thrown by an Ogre. I'd consider it a semi-playable card with 2 Ogres.

I'd like it a lot more if it let you sac artifacts. As it is there's enough competition for the high end of most of my decks that it tends not to make the cut.

it triggers on any artifact in play going to the graveyard, not just when you sac an artifact. its particularly good with Sylvok Replica but will grow off of pretty much any removal. +4/+0 off an Arc Trail is not unheard of. this wouldn't be so cool except for the Trample on this guy, so it almost always converts to damage. its a good attacker, which is why i like it. if i'm gonna pound the ground this is the kinda thing i like to do it with.
i'm guessing alot of people would rather play Bellowing Tanglewurm. I would not. Intimidate doesn't do much in artifact-creature world. Trample is much better at getting damage through.
I agree with everyone that 3 Molder Beast in a 40 card deck is too many. Go Golem's Heart here. It actually can gain you a ton of life, enables metalcraft, etc. Just side it out against infect.
In summation.....Star Trek wins a prolonged naval battle against superior, yet less technologically advanced, numbers, with Picard leading the assault, while Kirk takes your soul by laying out Solo and probably his manservant Chewy as well, before impregnating and ditching your Princess.

Molder beast #1? Fine. #2? Fine. #3 when you have 2 other 5 drops besides?

I don't get it... if we want a cheap artifact only to enable metalcraft and to inevitably sac, isn't Trigon of Mending just better than Golem's Heart as it gains more life and is an occasionally relevant topdeck? I guess it costs mana to use the ability, but if you don't have the mana to spare to pay for it then you are casting spells anyway, and if you do then it's better than the Heart.
wow, not trying to cause a misinterpretation here. i didn't even vote for the Molder Beast. to quote Commons: "Windmill slam Golem's Heart."
i was just trying to make a more broad point. definitely this particular draft either has an unusually large number of molder beasts in the packs, or the table undervalues them. its a solid dude. i'm happy to play one or two.
I agree that trigon of mending would be a better pick here than the golem's heart, and I would still never play the trigon. and if we pass this molder beast then maybe the person to our right will be tempted to take more green cards away from us in pack 3 because he just got another green playable from us. and a 3rd molder beast can easily be played if we get another couple of myr.

Busy. Lucky to find time to put up 8-Way picks everyday. I'll try to have p3p1 up tomorrow. Skip the Auto/Veto this time. The deck is concrete enough not to warrant it.

Clean sweep.
