I did not see anything about ug in the decklists I am wondering if this strategy is just dead?
I usually play EDH or standard but I would like to build a semi-competitive legacy deck that I could enter minor tournaments and at least have fun.
I love wild mongrel with wonder and the like plus with disrupt, circular logic, flusterstorm, and one more I am forgetting you can have tons of counter magic for very cheap.
The main problem I see with this deck is running out of gas I use circular logic but I am not sure that is still viable.
Also where does everyone stand on ponders, brainstorm, and deep analysis? they are great but also slow you down a bit, how many and of which should i run?
This question was asked not that long ago. In short, UG madness basically became Threshold.dec, which itself evolved into "thresh" sans relying on threshold. As of this very moment, RUG featuring mongoose and goyf would be the successor to/better UG madness.

I saw the UGr threshold thread but I am looking for something different.
Mental Misstep is banned in legacy. Needs more brainstorm/force of will.
thanks I did not know that I could add brainstorm but im just not going to be able to get force of will unfortunately.
What do you think of Revenge of the hunted? It certainly is not perfect when Im drawing all these cards but I dont know how else to really get in for the finish.
does something like this have any shot nowdays? I don't expect to win I just want to not do the worst.
I am not willing to go red because I already have 4 hinterland harbor and 4 yavimaya coast and I don't really want to put more money into this deck.
No. Like I mentioned, I was giving you a short rationale for why that won't work.
We could flesh out why each card listed won't work, but to save time, the old school UG madness is outclasses by better, more efficient cards.
Why cast circular logic when force of will & co are better? Logic is way too conditional to use effectively (need a discard outlet to cast for U, need cards in the grave, etc). Why cast wild mongrel (2/2) when you can have a 4/5 or 5/6 in tarmogoyf? Roar of the wurm is significantly underwhelming for the mana put into it. For 4 mana, this format looks for bombs/closers....not a generic 6/6 that dies to bounce, spot removal, and token killer cards like explosives.
U/G madness was tried and progressed to BirdSh*t + the original Threshold simultaneously. Eventually rootwalla and mongrel weren't needed because they didn't do enough. The likes of werebear (yea I'm going back a few years in legacy) and mongoose were used because they were efficient for that older meta. Toss in Mystic Enforcer (again, better than any creature from your conventional UG Madness list) and swords and you had the making of a GY/discard heavy deck. This concept was miles ahead of UG madness.
Time passes and efficient cards like Goyf debut...the other color combinations are realized to be better (UGr canadian and UGb dark tempo thresh). I'll skip over balanced vs tempo discussions because ultimately we push away from "i need careful study to progress my strategy" to "we figured out how to make the best blue tempo shell".
The shell of Threshold (brainstorm, force, [daze or pierce/snare]) still works today. However, stuff like Delver and Snapcaster further break away from UG madness because the cards are miles ahead of "threshold" cards. Overall, why bother with conditions if there's cards who dominate by themselves. Where rootwalla and mongrel act as a pesudo 1-2 combination (more with Arrogan Wurm, etc), all of those cards can't hold a candle to tarmogoyf or even Vendilion Clique. The cards of today are cheaper, stronger, and generate card advantage.
The best U/G madness can do nowadays is be a relic. It had its day in the T2 sun years ago (and god bless those days). Madness itself is a dead mechanic for the format, especially with survival of the fittest being banned (see Vengevine-survival meta).
Hopefully this paints a better picture. I am still glossing over A LOT of trends and happenings but overall my earlier post is for the inevitable 'TL; DR' crowd. This is why I conclude: "As of this very moment, RUG featuring mongoose and goyf would be the successor to/better UG madness"
EDIT: Also, please keep this thread on task with the OP. If you want to attempt to create UG madness.dec, please take up a new thread in the developing or budget subforums

Yeah I used to play legacy years ago and just got back into magic was hoping to bring the deck back into play because the format is so expensive. I just saw the budget list I definitely should have posted this there.
Do you plan on playing in larger tournaments or smaller, more local ones? In smaller metas, you could probably run UG Madness modified with legacy staples (Force, fetches, Tropicals, Brainstorms, ect.).
At larger tourneys? You'll want something with a bit more power and consistency.
Roar if the Wurm is not as good as before. It's much easier to handle a 6/6 token Wurm now compared to before. The Wurm used to be a efficient beater back in those days, but not anymore.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.

I just plan on playing in smaller 5 dollar tournys for like friday night magic where I can see how the format looks and get ideas of older cards because Im a huge fan of EDH.
Really Im looking for a casual legacy deck that if someone asks me to play legacy I can pick it up and at least make the game competitive. Like I said I dont expect to win anything with this I just want to have fun as this deck was one of my favorites. I sold all my cards 6 or so years ago and the only thing I kept was the cards for this deck it was kindof a pet of mine.
Also yes roar of the wurm is not the best but having a flying 6/6 turn 3 is not the worst thing. I used to run arrogant wurms for the trample and you know, actually being a creature but I dont see that as really viable either.
Also I have flusterstorm Im assuming that is still very viable in this format.

I was thinking something like
4 basking rootwalla
4 birds of paradise
3 wonder
3 aquamoeba
4 careful study
4 disrupt
4 circular logic
4 brainstorm
2 revenge of the hunted
4 yavimaya coast
6 island
6 forest
does something like this have any shot nowdays? I don't expect to win I just want to not do the worst.
