This thread will be moved shortly to the WoP sub-forum once the old threads are retired...
Welcome to the region of Ageos! I hope you enjoy the time that you spend here!
This is where you will post your character.
LET'S GET STARTED
You post in this thread need only include three things:
1. Your Character's Name 2. Gender 3. Starter Pokemon (with Gender)
The following Pokemon are not available as starters:
Legendaries
Evolved forms (not counting Baby forms)
Baby Pokemon
Fossil Pokemon
Shiny Pokemon
Any pokemon that doesn't have evolved forms.
Optional Information:
Age(In order to legally train and own Pokemon you must be at least 10 years of age.)
Height/Weight
Place of Origin (This is where your character grew up. It can be anywhere in the Pokemon World.)
Family (Briefly describe the people related to your character.)
General Appearance(What your character looks like. This is the Pokemon World, so crazy hair colors (Blue, Pink, Green, Bright Red, Purple, etc.) are normal.)
Backstory(add a bit of depth to your character.)
Goal(s)(This is what your character sees as their main objective. For example, it could be to win the Pokemon Trainer League Championships, catch a specific rare Pokemon, be a good Pokemon doctor, destroy all civilization, etc...)
If you choose to do so, you may have Professor Pear give you a starter Pokemon instead. This option is available for players that want some element of randomness to their character's story progression. If you receive your Pokemon from the professor, you will get to choose one Pokemon from a set of three, as determined by the WPL(s).
After registering, your character will receive 5000 P (Pokedollars) and five pokeballs in your inventory. If there is anything specific you would like to add to your inventory that is essential to your character, please make sure it is cleared with a WPL.
FAMILY: Father is a co-owner of Lavaridge Town's famous hot springs. Mother is a pokemon breeder.
APPEARANCE: Scruffy dark hair. Big eyes. Most common outfit is red button-down shirt and jeans. Tall and skinny for his age.
BACKSTORY/GOALS: It's that time for James to go off and have his own adventures. Having finally come to the age his parents set for him to venture off, James is eager to go off and see the world. To this point, he has truly never even stepped foot outside his hometown. But for his 14th birthday, his parents took him to Slateport City, got him on a boat, and handed him a shiny pokeball to keep him company and keep him safe on his journeys. Ever eager, James opened it and was thrilled to see a dopey little Numel pop out and smile up at him. As the ship set sail, James waved goodbye to his loving parents before running to the front of the deck and looking out into the waters. Ageos awaits.
James has long dreamed of lofty things, though specifics were never his strong suit. On this boat ride, he decides that, someday, he would like to be a breeder like his mother. But wherever his adventures take him first is good with him! Like I said, he's not picky. And he certainly wouldn't mind having some shiny badges to show off.
EDIT: I am locked into this character. Not switching based on Gen IV, nor would I switch if Gen V were added too (which would be nice, down the road).
Family: Parents back in Hoenn region, his mother is Milly Willow, a pokemon researcher, her most recent held position is at the Hoenn Weather Research Center. His Father is Douglas Willow, a Botanist for Fortree City, he makes sure all the tress that make up the town stay nice and healthy.
Apperance: Average height, thin build, brown somewhat messy hair, light skin, hazel-green eyes. He wears glasses with smaller circle lenses, a blue long coat, white button up shirt, Black dress pants(plus belt), brown hiking shoes. PokéTool on left forearm.(see Spoiler)
Background: Moved around a lot when younger, all over Hoenn. Was late in starting his journey because he preferred to help his mother with her research at first.
Goals: To be a top notch Pokemon researcher, and to a lesser extent meet Prof. Oak. He seems to prefer researching pokemon over capturing them. He has come to Ageos to look into reports of unique pokemon seen no where else to see if he can be the first to record them for science. (AKA, the legendaries that were mentioned before.)
Starter Pokemon: Arron, named Iron, Male.
A Wrist mounted device that is basically an Scientific Version of a Pokedex with added capabilities for research purposes. It has a flip open screen and keyboard area, built in camera that can take short recordings or still frame pics, touch screen and stylus. Has a part on the right end that comes off and clips either around an ear, or in my characters case, onto his glasses, act as a microphone, earphone, flashlight, and head camera to record where he is looking.
Added features include Text Messenger, weather checker, notepad, power level indicator(as in how powerful a pokemons move is compared to average), micro-sonar device, pokemon sound identifier(can tell what a pokemon is within reason by the sound it makes), radio, and built in map feature.
Possible future features will be listed as upgrades are allowed.
This particular one is light blue with white lines, matches my characters attire very well.
I'm undecided... many of those pokemon that evolve from pre-Gen IV pokemon require very specific circumstances in order to evolve. I'll have to consider including those specific circumstances in the game in order to include those pokemon...
Also, I've sent a mass PM to everyone that posted in the Reboot Thread so once we get a few more people registered we'll begin...

Cube. The best way to play Magic. PERIOD. Come over and check it out. Also, check out my Peasant Split Card Cube.
The World of Pokemon RPG has been rebooted. Come over and check it out.
I'm a little disappointed that you aren't allowing anything from Gen IV and up but then again there's still plenty here to work with as it is. Will you gradually insert the next couple of generations after say a year if this is successful?
I'm assuming the Gen IV pokemon will be available to capture if we can't start with them.

I have thought about it for awhile and, although I'm still not all that familiar with the Sinnoh-region Pokemon, I will be willing to include the Gen IV Pokemon as both starters and catchable Pokemon.
If anyone wanted to change their starting Pokemon, now's your chance.

Starter Pokemon: Sandshrew (nicknamed Scout), Male
Age: 14
Height/Weight: 5'3", 125 lb
Place of Origin: Pewter City, Kanto Province
Family: Father, Theo Liam, a respected researcher at the Pewter Museum. Mother, Molly Liam, a shy historian with a passion for Pokemon legends and ancient civilizations. Older sister, Chloe Liam, an enthusiastic if somewhat airheaded tour guide at the Pewter Museum.
General Appearance: Athletically built, with short blue-green hair and blue eyes. Her typical outfit is a safari hat, goggles, vest, long pants, gloves, and hiking boots. [Gear subject to WPL approval: Beryl carries a small spade, a magnifying glass, a dusting brush, and a camera. You never know when you might unearth something special!]
Backstory: Beryl grew up surrounded by Pokemon and Pokemon researchers, and she was accompanying her father on fossil digs as soon as she was old enough to have a Pokemon of her very own. One day, as her father was proposing an expedition to the continent of Ageos to his colleagues in Slateport, his leg was crushed when a heavy shelf suddenly collapsed. Knowing that Beryl had wanted to embark on a Pokemon journey for a while, he decided to send her in his place.
Goals: To explore the whole world and make discoveries about any fossils in the region. Beryl views Pokemon battles as a natural extension of endurance training. To her, it doesn't matter if a Pokemon has blinding speed, or flashy special attacks - what matters is being the last Pokemon left standing! A lover of Ground- and Rock-types of all stripes, she enjoys hiking, biking, and mountain-climbing alongside her Pokemon.
Family: Gabe's father, Steve, served for many years in the Poke Police Force, running his house hold like a police station. Very organized and strict. His mother, Rebecca, taught at the Poke University as a Professor of Pokemon Evolution. She would sit down when Gabe was younger, and explain to him how, despite everything they knew about Pokemon, evolution was still one of the biggest mysteries. On the weekends, Gabe would travel to Pallet Town with his mother and sit and listen to her and Professor Oak talk about different theories.
Appearance: Gabe likes to be comfortable all the time. His normal attire is loose clothing that breathes, such as basketball shorts, and a light v-neck shirt. He keeps his dark, shoulder length dreads neatly in a pony tail. Thanks to his father, he has always known how to keep himself in shape, despite sometimes being to lazy to work out, he still has a muscular build.
Backstory: Gabe always wanted to be a Pokemon Trainer, but he mother and father always told him that he wouldn't be allowed to have a pokemon until he graduated from college. So he would his time studying hard through his teenage years, and running simulations about pokebattles on his computer. He graduated his HS at the head of his class, and even began his first semester and the Poke University where his mom worked with a perfect GPA...but than he discovered the same thing that every college student does...there is life outside of school grades. He joined a poke frat, the 'Saur house, and learned about everything from girls to recreational activities. He was still able to pass his classes, but just barely. However, the time has finally come, and he has graduated from college. At his graduation his parents give him a gold and black Luxury Ball they said they had saved up for, so that he could have the best. And inside was the best pokemon, and his favorite as he was growing up.
Goal: Although Gabe still loves pokemon, he sees becoming a trainer as too much of working with "the man, man". But he does want to travel the world, and see all kinds of pokemon. And with his BA in Poke-graphy, he is able to train pokemon, travel the world, and get some great pictures!
Starter Pokemon: Dratini (Nicknamed: Slim) Gender: Male
Age: 15
Height/Weight: 5'6/150lbs
Place of Origin: Blackthorn City, Johto Region
Family: Father and Mother
General Appearance: Athletic, short red hair, blue eyes covered by normal shades, simple black t-shirt and red cargo pants. Shoes are normal running shoes (not the gear). He wears a black fedora to keep the sun off his head.
Backstory: Darien lived with his parents in the Blackthorn City for all his life. He watched the great Dragon Trainers Clair and Lance constantly pushed themselves to achieve mastery over the Dragon Types and finally Darien had decided he'd follow in their footsteps by becoming a Dragon Master himself. After he had passed through the ancient rituals, Darien decided it was time to begin his own journey with his first dragon type and partner Slim, a simple Dratini that was traditional pokemon for all fledgling Dragon Type users in Blackthorn City.
Goals: Replace Lance as the Elite 4 Champion and master each Dragon Type pokemon.
Name: Josh Gender: Male Starter Pokemon: Electrike Age: 14 Height: 5'9" Weight: 148 lb Place of Origin: Goldenrod, Johto Appearance: Tall but otherwise small-framed. Wears blue jeans and a solid yellow shirt, making him stand out as a nerd among a crowd. Right-handed.
Personality: Brave but rash, his mind works faster than his brain, often without thinking things all the way through. Neutral good in terms of D&D alignment. He is a bit antisocial, but can form long-lasting friendships with the right group of people. When higher-ups do something or ask something of him that doesn't make sense in his eyes, he will often go on his own way to find a better method of accomplishing the same task. Nonetheless, his heart seems to always be in the right place. Even when he makes mistakes, his intent is pure, and he is a good person overall.
History: For the most part, Josh is your typical teenage gamer nerd--easily distracted, highly dextrous, possesses lightning reflexes, and the like. He excelled in math and science at elementary school, and struggled with art and other abstract subjects. At the age of ten, he wanted to become a Pokemon trainer for the purposes of joining a racing league. His folks assumed that, as usual, he wasn't thinking everything through, and thus did not allow him to begin his training at such a young age. He went on to finish elementary school, nearly qualifying for highest honors. On a breezy, cold Christmas morning just after his thirteenth birthday, Josh's folks surprised him after a disappointment on his birthday. Just as one of the guests went to get his coat from the closet, a small yellow Pokemon known as Electrike rushed out of said closet and nearly tackled Josh to the ground from his sitting position. "Merry Christmas," his folks said to him. He was ecstatic, ready to start his journey towrd becoming a racer.
Goals: By raising his Pokemon and himself, he wants to use Saber (after evolution of course) to participate in a Pokemon racing league. His pipe dream goal is to meet the legendary Pokemon Raikou and race across the land on its back at least once, as he has admired Raikou since childhood.
Name: Ryoma "Rai" Takeshi Gender: Male Starter Pokemon: Magnemite (Genderless!) Age: 13 Height/Weight: 5', 110 lb Appearance: Rai is short and slight of build. He has black hair and hazel eyes. He always wears his trademark blue and white light jacket and white cap with a small red R on the front.
Hometown: Pewter City, Kanto Province
Family: Rai's dad is Nanjiro Takeshi, a rock / ground Pokemon trainer. Rai hopes to become as great as his father but using the types of Pokemon he likes. Rai's mom Hanako Takeshi is a botanist with an affinity for grass Pokemon.
Goals: To have a great adventure, meet lots of cool Pokemon and have an awesome time. Rai's dream is to be a great Pokemon trainer.
1. Your Character's Name: Xander
2. Gender: Male
3. Starter Pokemon (with Gender): Absol named Omen (Male)
Optional Information:
Age: 42
Height/Weight: 5'11"/150 lbs.
Place of Origin: Mahogany Town
General Appearance: Long black hair, streaked with grey. Often dressed in a long sleeved black shirt, with a silver vest over it, black pants, and black shoes. Uses a cane due to a limp caused by an old injury. Face has a scar running the length of his left cheek.
Backstory: (Edited later)
Goal(s): (Edited later)
Name: Ike
Gender: Male
Starter Pokemon: Magikarp (male, named Styx)
Age: 16
Height/Weight: 5'8"/135 lb
Origin: Olivine City
Appearance: Roughly shoulder-length blue hair and blue eyes. Usually wears a blue jacket over a white shirt and black pants.
Backstory: Ike was always easily bored, and spent much of his time causing problems. He never cared much about what happened, as long as something was happening.
Eventually his father, a fisherman, grew tired of paying to repair damage caused by Ike's shenanigans. He decided to make Ike begin his Pokemon journey, hoping that being left to fend for himself would teach him a bit of discipline. And as though being thrown out on the street was not punishment enough, his father insisted that he, not the professor, should be the one to give Ike his first Pokemon.
Goals: None currently, except to make the best of this miserable situation.
Name: Forrest
Gender: Male
Pokémon: Ghastly Male (Name: Panik)
Age: 16
5'8 150lb
Place of Origin: Lavender Town, Kanto
Fuji Family: Forrest was brought up by his grandfather, Mr. Fuji, in the Lavender Volunteer Pokémon House. The organization exists to care for abandoned and orphaned Pokémon. Many members of the organization live in the safe house, looking after the abandoned Pokémon. The Pokemon house cannot support itself like it used to and is in desperate need of money. Mr. Fuji made a deal with Team Rocket for a loan and a payment that they can never pay back.
General Appearance: Green hair pulled back into a short spikey ponytail. Grey eyes and a light tan. Forrest wears a white shirt with a black vest and a green bow tie.
Backstory: Forrest stepped off the ship full of hope and eagerness. In his hand he clutched a letter from his grandfather.
Quote from Mr. Fuji »
Forrest,
I love you son and I know it is unfair for me to send you off to make your way in the world,
but the family needs you more than ever. Fight hard for us
Forrest. I know you can find a way to save the Pokemon house.
-Grandad
Goal(s): Forrest wants to take over Ageos. Defeating every trainer in his path and eventually become number one in the Elite Four.
You have no idea how hard it was to not transcode MTG:RPG's Erin into here with a Mr. Mime. Oh well.
Name: Jade
Gender: Female
Starter Pokemon: Pikachu
Age: 10, to the day.
Height/Weight: 4'2", 89 lbs.
Place of Origin: Viridian City. Just off of Route 2.
Family:
- Eron, father, late 30s. Gym Trainer in Celadon City.
- Alice, mother, mid 30s. Established merchant in Celadon City.
- Derrick, brother, early 20s. Currently working on the Gym Challenge.
General Apperanace: Jade was named after her hair color, a rather fetching light green that hangs down to her waist. It's normally kept in check by a red ballcap that she usually wears backwards. She's usually found wearing a red hoodie with a blue vest over it. Her pants are dark blue cargo pants, held up with a belt. In a concession to fashion, she usually has a few other belts that just hang off with no real purpose. Her shoes are yellow cross-trainers. In lieu of a purse, she wears a red sack-style backpack. Nothing really special otherwise.
Backstory: Jade was born in Celadon City while her mother was watching a rather important battle her Father was part of. Her mother actually watched footage of the battle in the midst of the delivery. Her daughter ended up squealing with joy at Daddy's win rather than screaming as babies usually do. This, more than anything, cemented her fate as a Pokemon trainer. She eventually spent a lot of time with Dad at the gym, learning the ropes. She made good ties with many pokemon there. But Plant types just weren't her style. Trips out to watch her Brother on his gym challenge, as well as going on vacations with the family, exposed her to plenty of the Trainer's life. So it was no surprise when, at the age of 10, she asked to go on her own journey. She didn't want to have to follow in her brother's footsteps, so she chose another region at random to start in. Ageos would have to be it.
Goals: To be the very best, of course. Not just the best trainer, but the best collector. Jade has a very old-school view of her future: Beat the Elite Four, become the champion, catch every pokemon, and then challenge her dad and brother to a tag-team battle and see who wins.
(I haven't played a forum RP in like five years, but the barrier to entry is pretty low when the game in question is only a week old. Thanks for doing this, Raptor :))
I wanted a constraint on my character, so I selected a two-color pair or three-color triplet at random. The spin of the wheel gave me RWU -- fine by me -- so here we go:
Name: Fritz du Polidori (born Alexander Adams) Gender: Male Age: 18 H/W: 5'7", 135 lbs. Appearance: Picture David Tennant in your mind. Now make him shorter, give him a less attractive facial feature of your choice, and turn his hair ashen with an ever-so-slightest hint of mauve. I won't tell you how to dress him, because it'll be different every time you see him. But since you hardly know a thing about him, let's start him off with a deliciously Neapolitan look: a white vest over a brown, sleeves-rolled-up collared shirt and a pink scarf or neckerchief. Origin: Saffron Starter: ♀ Remoraid (Poulpentrique)
Fritz du Polidori is his father's son and his mother's child (which, of course, is not to say that he's his father's child and his mother's son). His father, Anton Adams, is the COO of Silph Co., a position he climbed to after six successful years as the company's product manager -- and his mother couldn't care less about that. The estranged Isabella Rossetti is whimsical, eccentric, and rather foppish; the sort of woman Anton felt increasingly reluctant to associate with as his position at Silph Co. grew increasingly influential. She's a ball-jointed dollmaker who would wholly qualify as a "starving artist" if Mr. Adams didn't keep her plate filled; that is to say, Fritz's parents maintain some semblance of a relationship with one another in their separation. And likewise, Fritz's relationship with both his parents is amicable -- if tenuous -- because he could be qualified as Anton Adams' son and Isabella Rossetti's child in equal measures. So: let's talk about Fritz himself.
Fritz du Polidori is a self-styled Liquescentrepreneurial Architectrix, which I can assure you means nothing to anyone but him and is surely the result of his obsession with phonemically overlapping portmanteaux (what it means in practice is whatever Fritz wants it to mean on any given week -- but I won't bore you with a point I'll be touching on in a paragraph to come). Finishing his compulsory education at age 13, Fritz (who at this time was still Alexander, or "Alec") stood before a world he had been waiting for since he toured a good portion of it on his tenth birthday, aboard the S.S. Anne. But he also stood before a career at Silph Co. that had been waiting for him ever since his father reached a position in the company worth bearing the legacy of the Adams family name. And so Alec became part of Silph Co.'s product differentiation team.
Alec's appointment to his first job was certainly nepotistic, but it became apparent that he was more qualified for that job than at least one member of the team. And then, it became apparent that he was overqualified for the job: it was Alec that made the initial suggestion to make the upper hemisphere of the Great Ball imperfectly smooth (a suggestion he made by setting a pitching machine to fire baseballs across the conference room during a meeting). That idea, of course, led to the addition of the Great Ball's two distinctive red, raised stripes. And that addition led to a 10% increase in Great Ball sales over four quarters -- in a fiscal year that saw a 9% decrease in overall Poke Ball sales.
However, by the time Silph Co.'s annual report attributed the Great Ball upturn to its latest design innovation, Alec had already left the company and found a job elsewhere. Or, rather, I should say that he had already left the company and found three jobs elsewhere. The realization that boredom had somewhat of an asphyxiating effect on him ousted the word "career" from his vocabulary, and kept his mind in a constant state of flux -- and he also realized that the oxymoronic irony of "constant" and "flux" appearing in the same phrase was a commentary on his own life. By the time he turned 17, Alec had dabbled in real estate ("not surreal enough"), civil engineering ("I'll come back when you want to build a floating city"), and actuarial science ("how are you not bored of human mortality when there are 649 other sapient species to analyze?"). He couldn't replicate his success at Silph Co. in any of those fields, but for lack of passion and not for lack of talent. He wasn't so much a "jack of trades, master of none" as he was a "jack of trades, master of this week's trade" -- and a week is too short a time for anything.
After leaving his job at Cerulean Mutual, Alec found his calling...as a gallivanter. Well, perhaps I'm being disingenuous: I say "gallivanter," but even in his idle wanderings he was, at least, of service to society (where before he would sell a beachfront cottage to a young couple, he would now spend a day helping Mr. Newlywed deal with flooding in the cottage's cellar). But with no need for "professionalism" in this way of life, Alec gave himself up to certain eccentricities; including, you may have surmised, changing his name to Fritz du Polidori on the eighteenth anniversary of his birthday (there seems to be some esoteric logic in that name, but as before it's lost on the rest of us). It was also at this time -- the advent of Fritz's legal adulthood -- that his father, now in his second year as Silph Co.'s COO, contacted Fritz.
Subordinate COO or product manager: Anton Adams offered his son one of the two positions, and called him to his 10th floor office at the Silph Co. Building to make his decision. He had placed the odds of Fritz accepting the offer at 1:1. When his son entered the office with an opera cloak flung over one shoulder (or was it an especially long scarf?), he dropped the odds to 2:1; when his son stopped and turned on a dime in a perfect right angle (and look at that smile!), he dropped the odds to 3:1; when he saw an effervescently pink parasol in his son's right hand, he threw the book out the window. In the space of a second -- and without a hint of frustration -- Anton acquiesced to the existence of Fritz du Polidori and to the fact that Fritz and Alexander Adams were quite mutually exclusive. And in the space of the next second, Anton realized exactly what Fritz du Polidori needed.
"Your own enterprise."
To say that Fritz hadn't at least considered it before would be downplaying the galvanic restlessness of his mind -- how many neural impulses had delivered that notion to his conscious mind, let alone his subconscious mind? But to hear the thought in this context, and to linger on the notion behind it for more than a fleeting second, instilled him with a singular understanding of what the future held. His own enterprise! Isn't that what it means to be a Liquescentrepreneurial Architectrix? And isn't that -- if you'll draw this as a Venn diagram in your mind -- the intersection of Anton Adams' and Isabella Rossetti's otherwise incomparable lives? His father had become the skeleton of Silph Co. through his superlative product management, and his mother had become the spirit of her own atelier, Resination, through her single-minded commitment to the art of dollmaking. His own enterprise!
"How else can it be?" And with those words, Fritz du Polidori flung his scarf around his other shoulder (it was a scarf, after all), turned exactly 180 degrees on a dime (with the same smile, of course), and opened his parasol as he floated out the room in the manner of Drifloon (insofar as a human can float in the manner of Drifloon). And that was that.
From there it was a matter of choosing the enterprise to which he would venture. I say "choosing," but to Fritz it was more a matter of calculating what his future self would have already chose. To that end, he studied the problem objectively, subjectively, quantitatively, and qualitatively; he filled pages with words, pages with numbers, pages with some combination of words and numbers, and pages with symbols that could be considered neither pictures nor numbers; he applied his sense of logic, his sense of intuition, his sense of aesthetics, and his sense of emotion; he looked to the past, the present, the future, and some intangible span of time that at the same time exists outside of time. He did all of this until -- summarily -- the solution came upon him: Fritz du Polidori would own and operate a Pokemon gym.
And so he devoted himself to the task of building a Pokemon gym; or, for the time being, testing the feasibility of the undertaking in his mind. The overhead would be tremendous. He wouldn't need venture capital, because he had an angel investor in his father. But! -- the thought crossed his mind twice in quick succession -- he wouldn't need an angel investor, because there needn't be anything to invest in. What good would it do to build a new gym when there are so many already-existing ones to annex? It couldn't be done in Kanto: the leadership of all of the Kanto gyms is either hereditary, inbred, or otherwise immutable (although the thought of managing the Celadon Gym amused him for a moment). Johto is certainly worse; some of the gym buildings themselves are hundreds of years old. Fritz didn't know enough about Hoenn and Sinnoh -- from a business standpoint -- to even consider them, and Unova was a world away. That left Ageos, a region without a Pokemon League as renowned as Kanto's -- and, following that, a region without gyms with the same prestige as Kanto's. So, once again, that was that. Fritz would go to Ageos without another word to build his own enterprise out of nothing (and at this time, I find it rather important to mention that "nothing" just as well refers to Fritz's total lack of experience in Pokemon catching, handling, battling, and just about anything else related to the pocket monsters).
So. That's Fritz du Polidori. Or, rather, as much of Fritz du Polidori as I care to write here; I'll let Fritz himself fill in the rest of the blanks.
1. Akem 2. Male Age: 20
Height/Weight: 5'11/200 LB.
Place of Origin Snowpoint City, Sinnoh Family Most of his family is unknown as he was an orphan until the age of 16. He was raising by the League of Trainers in Snowpoint City for abandoned children.
General Appearance He's talk, black and toned a bit. His silver hair is often confused for white. He always wears black clothing but on occasion is seen wearing a trenchcoat in the winter and a trench vest in Spring and Fall.
BackstoryNot much is known about Akem. To be brutally honest, he doesn't remember anything before being brought into the League of Trainers. After the age of 12, he entered the Pokémon Academy and stayed at the dorm. Sure, he was picked at because there aren't a whole lot of trainers who are tall and dark skinned, but he did stellar in his studies and eventually graduated with top honors.
He was rewarded by obtaining a Piplup which he named him, Freeze, due to his cold nature towards opponents. He's currently traveling to become the Master Traveling Trainer or MTT.
Goal(s): To become the 2nd MTT in the Pokémon world. A fea that isn't too easy to perform.
3. Starter Pokemon (with Gender):
Piplup (Freeze)
Male
Personality: He is cold to opponents and tends not to open himself to other Pokémon. But when it does, it's a reliable friend and teammate!
Name: Cleo Heath
Gender: Male
Starter: Porygon
Age: 14
Height/Weight: 4'9
Place of Origin: Celadon City
Family: Grimsley of Unova, Grandfather, unknown relative
General Appearance: An aristocratic boy with a lust for power. Black hair. Similar to Nathaniel in the Bartimaeus series, if you've ever read that.
Backstory: Cleo was one of the Heaths, an aristocratic family that is based in Celadon. However, most of the family traveled to Unova because of the city life and great beaches. They also wanted to escape the family's obsession with gambling. That left Cleo with his grandfather. His grandfather was furious at the migration of the family, but that left him free what the family is best to do: gambling. He spent most of his, and therefore, Cleo's, money going to the Celadon Game Corner. They ran out of money and the other members of the family did not want to support them. In his dying words, Cleo's grandfather spent his coins on a Porygon for his grandson in order to escape the guilt.
Goal(s): Cleo wishes to build up his family's old aristocratic ways. He considers the Heaths who split to go to Unova traitors and wishes to have a nice family back in Kanto once again.
Name: Billy
Gender: Male
Starter: Trapinch named Yahoola (Male)
Age: 18
Height/Weight: 5'6"/ 175 lbs.

He has blue eyes and long sandy hair that is parted in the middle. He does sport a scar that run across his right cheek.
Backstory: Although short for his age and weight, Billy is no weakling, he is actually quite strong due to protecting and taking care of his family since he was very young boy. He does sport a scar on his right cheek that he earned while protecting his younger cousins from a few Poochyena that had chased them from their favorite oasis in the desert. Billy's grandmother recently decided that she was going to move to the big city to live, allowing for Billy to finally adventure without worrying about her being alone in the desert with only his younger cousins to watch out for her.

Starter Pokemon Ponyta, female, officially "Emberlace," also responds to "Lace"
Age15
Height/Weight5 foot nothing, ~95 lbs
Place of Origin Lavaridge Town, Hoenn
FamilyParents oversee a pokemon research facility in Hoenn region, older brother is a Ranger and sanctuary warden in another region.
General AppearanceWavy ringlets of coppery red hair cascade down just past her shoulders, framing a freckled face with piercing blue-grey eyes that have a slight spotting of green throughout the irises. Even in warm weather, she usually wears some form of long sleeved top, and comfortable jeans. She is very self-conscious about scarring across portions of her body (see backstory), so she tries to keep it covered as much as possible.
Goal(s)Nicolette aspires to become both an established breeder, and a competent Pokemon Ranger.
Shortly before she turned 13, Nicolette decided she wanted to take up pokemon training. It ran in the family, with both her parents and older brother being heavily involved with various aspects of training and research. For her birthday, her family gave Nicolette her very first pokemon, a Ponyta that he brother had rescued from poachers during one of his more recent Ranger missions. Emberlace, or Lace as Nicolette started to call the Ponyta, was rather skittish at first, but Emberlace's strength gradually returned and as months passed the two formed a bond that many trainers would envy.
The pair travelled to a new region of the world called Risin, and first began their story exploring a new place. On their way to a Ranger Center seeking more information about the area, and possibly becoming a Ranger in the future, Nicolette noticed smoke in the distance. She rushed to the scene, to find a Torkoal being violently attacked by a Scyther; Torkoal's fire-based attacks had set some nearby dried grass and branches on fire, and combined with the drafts created by the Scyther's quick movements, the fire quickly grew out of control.
Nicolette and Emberlace immediately started to defend the Torkoal, but the battle did not end well. Something was wrong with the Scyther, and its extreme violence and force injured Emberlace to the point where the pokemon was unable to run. The fire continued to grow out of control, and several other trainers appeared to try and help the situation. Nicolette, in a desperate attempt to get the Torkoal free, was caught in a backdraft of heat and flames causing her clothes to catch fire and knocking her to the ground where she soon lost consciousness. . . .
Awaking about a week after those events, and back in a hospital in Hoenn, she saw the tearful faces of her family, and the pokemon that (she was later told) had stood over her and protected her prone body from the intense heat and swirling flames of the fire. After her family had left for the day, Nicolette was able to spend some time just laying there with her Ponyta by her side. The pair looked at each other, and Nicolette noticed something strange about her companion. Emberlace was not the same, either, as the critical attack of that enraged Scyther had left a jagged and long scar on the Ponyta's right flank.
After a few months, with surgeries reducing most of the scarring, she went home dejected at having failed as a trainer, but happy to be alive. She spent her days around the local sanctuary roaming around with Emberlace, until one day she heard about a new region that was being explored, and that trainers were being called forth to help explore and understand the new area called Ageos. Expressing her interest to her parents about travelling again, they knew that Nicolette's spirit could not be swayed. Shortly after her 15th birthday, Nicolette and Emberlace were off again, on a ferry that would take them to Ageos to begin their adventures once again.
OOC: So I've decided to join the ranks of player-characters. Nicolette is a revived character (with some minor changes) from a previous version of the WP, where the events explained in the backstory occuring in Risin actually played out.
Family: Parents own a ship and transport passengers between Snowpoint City and Fighting Area. In summer, they also do Wailord watching tours. Younger brother (8).
Appearance: Dark blond hair, usually bound into a ponytail, light blue eyes. Skin tanned from spending much time on the sea. Usually wears white shirts with sea-related motifs and comfortable blue jeans. She feels a strong tie to water and is an excellent swimmer.
Goal: explore the lakes and streams of the region to observe and befriend water-loving pokemon
Backstory: Veronika spent most of her childhood on her parents' ship, out on the sea. For her 17th birthday, her parents offered her to undertake a journey to explore the world on her own, which she gladly accepted.
Name: Ian Syche Gender: Male Starter Pokemon: Skorupi, male Age: 11 Height/Weight: 4'1", 74 lbs. Place of Origin: Jubilife City, Sinnoh Region
Family:
-Deckard, father: Early- to mid-30's, an established breeder
-Lilianne, mother: Early 30's, currently helps teach at the Trainer School
-Caitlinn, sister: 14, currently attempting the Gym Challenge
General Apperanace: Ian is a light-skinned child with long, black dreadlocks that hang off his head to just over his shoulders in length. Most commonly, he tries to lounge around in a bright-colored T-shirt and loose-fitting shorts, though his parents often chide him for wearing such attire. His outfits usually mirror his relaxed, sometimes upbeat moods, generally steering towards more colorful options. Also of note is the headphones that commonly hang around his neck - one of his only possessions that he travels with, once connected to his phone, so he can listen to music almost everywhere.
Backstory: Ian was born and raised in and around Jubilife City with his parents and sister. From a very young age, he was introduced to the idea of Pokemon breeding and training, mostly due to the vocations of his mother and father. Proving to possess a knack for Pokemon handling, Ian quickly learned the ropes of training and battling, but was never really introduced to the trainer schools or many Pokemon groups. Instead, he spent much of his time relaxing outside with the Pokemon his father raised - inbetween listening to music and playing with the younger Pokemon, there wasn't really much else Ian ever really wanted. Still, the desire to achieve in the tournament arena burned inside him, and watched his sister attain several gym badges in her own adventure, Ian felt the urge to explore, and find his own destiny in the world.
As a gift, his father gave him the Skorupi that is now his trusted partner, to encourage him to pursue his dreams and exploration.
Goals: Ian's highest aspirations are to become the Champion, or among the members of the Elite Four.

Are Gen IV evolutions allowed?
GENDER: Male
AGE: 14
STARTER: Numel (male?)
PLACE OF ORIGIN: Lavaridge Town, Hoenn
Name: Derick Willow
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Place of Origin: Fortree City, Hoenn Province.

I'm a little disappointed that you aren't allowing anything from Gen IV and up but then again there's still plenty here to work with as it is. Will you gradually insert the next couple of generations after say a year if this is successful?I'm assuming the Gen IV pokemon will be available to capture if we can't start with them.
I'll post my character here in a bit.
There was once [The Pack], but no more.
I have thought about it for awhile and, although I'm still not all that familiar with the Sinnoh-region Pokemon, I will be willing to include the Gen IV Pokemon as both starters and catchable Pokemon.
If anyone wanted to change their starting Pokemon, now's your chance.

Gender: Female

Age: 22
Height/Weight: 6'1" 190 lbs
Place of Origin: Viridian City
Class: Pokemon Photographer
Starting Pokemon: Nidoran(M)
Gender: Male
There was once [The Pack], but no more.
Gender: Male
Starter Pokemon: Electrike
Age: 14
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 148 lb
Place of Origin: Goldenrod, Johto
Appearance: Tall but otherwise small-framed.

Goal(s): Forrest wants to take over Ageos. Defeating every trainer in his path and eventually become number one in the Elite Four.
My helpdesk should you need me.
I wanted a constraint on my character, so I selected a two-color pair or three-color triplet at random. The spin of the wheel gave me RWU -- fine by me -- so here we go:
Name: Fritz du Polidori (born Alexander Adams)
Gender: Male
Age: 18
H/W: 5'7", 135 lbs.
Origin: Saffron
Starter: ♀ Remoraid (Poulpentrique)
(I totally let that get out of hand )
1. Akem
2. Male
Age: 20
Height/Weight: 5'11/200 LB.

Backstory Not much is known about Akem.

He spent most of his, and therefore, Cleo's, money going to the Celadon Game Corner. They ran out of money and the other members of the family did not want to support them. In his dying words, Cleo's grandfather spent his coins on a Porygon for his grandson in order to escape the guilt.

Starter Pokemon Ponyta, female, officially "Emberlace," also responds to "Lace"
Age 15
Height/Weight 5 foot nothing, ~95 lbs
Place of Origin Lavaridge Town, Hoenn
Family Parents oversee a pokemon research facility in Hoenn region, older brother is a Ranger and sanctuary warden in another region.
General Appearance Wavy ringlets of coppery red hair cascade down just past her shoulders, framing a freckled face with piercing blue-grey eyes that have a slight spotting of green throughout the irises.
Even in warm weather, she usually wears some form of long sleeved top, and comfortable jeans. She is very self-conscious about scarring across portions of her body (see backstory), so she tries to keep it covered as much as possible.
Goal(s) Nicolette aspires to become both an established breeder, and a competent Pokemon Ranger.

Name: Ian Syche
Gender: Male
Starter Pokemon: Skorupi, male
Age: 11
Height/Weight: 4'1", 74 lbs.
