Ferona looks at Crowbeak in surprise. Sure he wasn't the kind of person who says hello to everyone he sees but she didn't see why he should go and accuse them of being hostile. She turned back to the other party. Then again they were still blocking the way and didn't seem to want to move. And they are holding their weapons out and shaking it in the air menacingly... Ferona draws out her rapier. Better safe than sorry.
The people march forward in even pace, just close enough to make out their features. The short stocky one, now obviously seen as a dwarf speaks up, "You adventurer types are bad for our business. Go back to town now."

He shrugs, "You must understand, when one such as you presents their talents, those with slightly less than optimal skills will no longer be required of their services."

The shaft of Keelan's glaive slides smoothly into his hand. "You think we're better fighters than you. You fear that we would want your jobs. So you seek to block the road."
"You Think. We're Better. At Fighting. Than You. And you try to Block our Path."
Keelan's glaive is now fully drawn. "Do you really not see the logic here?" He begins swinging the glaive around aimlessly. "If you don't step aside, you're too foolish to deserve the paid positions you hold, If this is your typical logic, then no wonder you fear for your jobs."
"So, would you like to let us pass? Or perhaps--" and here a grin spreads across Keelan's features "--you'd like to find out just which of us IS better? Are you up for a...challenge?" Keelan steps forward, holding his glaive obviously at the ready.
"heh... i've been itching for a fight..."
she closes her eyes focusing on her inner power. Slowly she lifts her unusual looking flute to her lips and begins to play. underneath her lids it seemed as if her eyes were beginning to glow a strange hue of light grey.
It says in the rules that I'm supposed to post my reaction to the die roll after I roll it, in a double post, but I think I have to wait to see the results before I decide what my character does...right?
OOC: You do a description in a double post after the roll and you describe in coordination to the roll. for example a roll of 14 on climb will always have the the same sort effect as a 14 roll later. The DC are the only thing that changes in the roll.
The dwarf laughs while his cohorts seem to take a step back, "Ha, ha, ha. I don't think you get the idea. I said that those with greater talents make it worse for our business not that you have those talents. As well take into consideration the largest difference between adventurers and mercenaries." at that moment three unarmored people jump out of the trees beside the path holding cross bows in their hands.

Some sort of distraction would be nice... I imagine the archers will fire at any hostile action. I'm keeping an entangle readied for hostile action, but it looks like a game of chicken. Anybody have a tower shield? Something...
NOTE: If the archers open fire, drop prone as a free action, I'll entangle the melee types with my readied action, and we should be able to get up in time for the fight. Unless anyone has a better suggestion?
"Although I don't really want to hurt you guys, i suppose i can use the practice."
Ferona starts swinging her rapier.
OOC: Readying to drop prone if they shoot.
Sounds like a plan. The melee types will move at half speed, so it'd take upwards of four rounds just to move through the 40ft radius, 20ft in heavy armor halved... we can then use the trees to our advantage when we ddo fight the melee types.
OOC: no picture of the map but it is just a staight path with trees on the side around 5ft in diameter and around 10 feet gaps on average inbetween them.
The dwarf and his comerades continue to move towards you at a slow pace.

Excellent. Everyone post in so that we're ready, anyone that can ready a useful action do so. When everyone checks in I suggest we fight back. Hit the archers hard and I'll slow the fighters down considerably.
"You...you COWARDS!" Keelan is furious...or at least is acting furious. "So this is how you 'protect your investment', is it? Well we'll just SEE!" He whirls to face the archers, preparing himself...
Ferona asks genuinely curious. Her rapier is hanging loosely by her side.
