So Against my better judgement (yeah right like I actually have any :p) I have been asked, coaxed and powder sugar coated (I dare you to picture this without shuddering :D) to run a game of D&D 4th Edition.
It will be simple, I am not a very accomplished PbP DM but will give it my all, this will be mostly 1shot with potential for short story arcs i would like 4 players I know DC and Giga are interested so i have reserved them spots if anyone else wants to join feel free to sign up.
If you have any questions about the system feel free to ask.
Rules are simple i will allow anything printed by WotC so long as you can provide me with a writeup in case i dont actually have the material, and classes with heavy position altering powers (Warlord) are discouraged although not outright banned.
As for campaign level i would prefer a low level (3-6) campaign but if enough support is given i can start at a higher level.

Would this be a appropriate campaign for a total noob to play in? I just borrowed a friends 4E Core Rulebook Set (PH, DMH, MM) and am completely overwhelmed as to where to start. I made a character using the D&DI Character maker, but aside from cooking up some custom maps using Illustrator, I am now stuck. I was hoping the tutorial thread in d20University sub-forum was still active but it isn't.
Lemme know, maybe I'll just watch this one unfold. And if anyone wants to point me to the very best place to start in the Colo, that would be appreciated. Right now I feel like the artwork on Marsh Casualties
Edit: Also, is this (and the majority of other) campaign(s) non combat? That's not really what I'm looking for. I'm looking to RP and fight. I can whip up a specialized map for a DM using AI and PS, and for outdoor terrains, throw in a little Google Earth with an artistic layover
I am hoping that this starts off as a sort of introductory adventure, but I am not sure what all Sep has in mind. We shall see. But if you have any questions please ask them.

hi sorry for the delay in posting my pc actually wouldn't turn on all day today for some reason... anyways to address concerns, yes I welcome new players, hell we all started as new players at sometime [some even more than once since we changed edition and systems] so do not feel discouraged we here in the Colo will make sure to be as helpful as possible.
Also yes my games tend to be a mix of RP and combat, i have no problem with hack and slash or story only games but i personally like blending things as much as possible.
I am Happy to have you all join, so yeah 5 players [Assuming Giga shows up and still wants in] is perfect.
I sadly wond be around much this week due to a family trip so i can only leave a basic Char Gen thread [making it as soon as im done here] which will be edited with much more info once i come back.

I think I've decided to sit this out for the time being. I just found a PbP site through google called DNDOG (familiar to you all?) and they offer a New Player Solo Game service to teach the ins and outs. I doubt I'll be done with it prior to Sep's return, but if I am, then I'll re-enroll. I just feel this is a better idea than jumping into a scenario with you all who have extensive knowledge. I neither wantto be a burden or lose interest due to knowing practically nothing about the system as of yet.
Psuedofate, this first adventure will be something where we are all learning the in's and outs. I have only really played on D&D fourth edition game session locally (though I have created a few characters over the course of the past few months). However that session really didn't go as smoothly as I would have hoped as we kind of butchered the rules just about everywhere. So I am hoping to use this game to learn more extensively.
I would really like it if you would stick this out and participate in the adventure, please?

I'm just intimidated ya know? But sure, if we're all on a somewhat level playing (knowledge) field I'll stay. I know nothing about the differences between 3.5 and 4. Is it that stark? I just assumed everyone in P&PI has extensive knowledge with the d20 system. I mainly have knowledge with topdecking and land screw.

Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition has been available June 6th of 2008 no earlier. Now despite it having been available for 2 years (as of this June), I have only to this date seen ONE, maybe two adventures for D&D fourth Edition play out in the Pen and Paper Inn. And the only people in the Lightbringers of Rasharaf who have played in those adventures are Sepiriel (the DM) and as far as I know, Halinn, and maybe GigaGuess. GigaGuess however does not to my knowledge have any of the books for Fourth Edition as I had to help him make his character, and as far as I know he has yet to post his character here. Halinn is as far as I know still in the process of getting things in order. And as we all know Sepiriel is the Dungeon Master for the game so the fact that he has prior experience with the system is a REALLY REALLY good thing as it means he can guide those of us with lesser experience much more easily.

3 or 4 seems like a good starting number
