Alacar, in turn, casts a grease spell, intending to stop the clerics in their tracks, even as the unstunned one tries to turn and run, seeing no way to reason with the party of the danger.
Reflex saves DC 17:

The other three are stunned and auto-fail their saves, falling to the ground.
The four clerics fall over as the grease on the ground impedes their movement.
The Grease spell will last 14 rounds or until dispelled.

...Something tells me that even should all arcane casters in the world unite, that the Grease spell would NOT be sufficient.
The clerics are dazed and confused and slipping around on the grease. Alacar smirks to himself. "I love that spell."
Glancing around, the group sees nothing in these halls that look like a dragon or anyone else. It is rather quiet. Too quiet. The party moves ahead, cautiously--the only offense is the spellcasting. "A fight with a dragon right now might prove to be fatal," Alacar says aloud, but you're all thinking anyways.
The party moves towards the center rings of the area, and they hear a shout from down the hall. A trio of men in familiar red robes are quickly fleeing the scene. Aliiryn recognizes their weapons and their head cowls immediately--the damned Fire Knives, who had branded them with an Azure Bond. The Fire Knives are running full-tilt away from the center of the area--away from the Well of Knowledge, supposedly.

The men are caught unawares and stumble around in the cloud, coughing and hacking their lungs out, trying to find the exit. They can hardly see in front of their hazed eyes, and the party is completely hidden from their sight.
Ignoring the upstarts, Alaster goes to examine where the well should be, his desire for knowledge far out strecthing the need to stop the insurgents.
"I'll examine the well, you restrain the intruders" he says not even looking around, only caring what the well can teach him, his mind reeling with possibilities and also, he secretly wishes to meet this dragon.

Alacar thinks for a moment. "I'll stop you. By doing something similar." He smirks and fires a forceball at the center of the circular cloud. The rogues can't even see it to dodge it.

Aliiryn's blast not only scatters the stinking cloud, but is far more impressive than Alacar's--it tears the rogues to shreds and scatters their bodies all around the floor. Alacar looks over at her and grins. "I knew what I was doing." He turns, following Alaster towards the Well.
(You all move towards 7,7) Joining with Alaster, the party comes upon a massive circle cut into the stone floor of this 40'x40' room. It's a perfectly carved circle, and the marble floor seems to be only a small covering over the true hole further below. Inside of this massive hole is pitch black darkness... the darkness starts right at the hole and seems to go down forever. Each of you senses immense magic from this hole. This is the Well of Knowledge.
Only after taking in this spectacle do you notice the several gems and jewels adorning the walls on this inner sanctum. They sparkle and flash with their own light.
Once you all arrive, you hear a mystical voice. (To Aliiryn and Alacar it is a female's voice. To all psions, it's a purely mental voice, with no gender. To Orvel, it's a different woman's voice.)

From your combined mental processes, you figure that this is a sentient being, perhaps of a godly stature. And although it is not exactly the god of Psionics, it seems to 'channel' the essence of the god. It is extremely powerful beyond your imagination, and may even know everything that will ever happen. It could even be a contact with the Overgod himself.
"You heroes were called here because you were destined to. You five are tied to the fate of Verdigris and the Dragonspine, and have been since you discovered the Pool of Radiance."
"What is it you wish for us to do?" Alaster's mind asks as he maintains a watchful gaze around the room, still wondering if the dragon mentioned is around.
"Also, why were we summoned without our belongings? It really doesn't seem to bright to bring us here to aid you when we don't have our belongings to work at our best" Alaster says, hoping to learn the location of the items lost in the transporting.

"There are some things that you cannot control, Aliiryn Sha'dar. Destiny is relative to those with, or without power. You each were summoned here to conquer a great evil, and to achieve the pinnacle of your strengths. Your items have been taken by Elminster the Sage, who knows of your presence here. Rest assured they are safe. They could not come with you, because that is not what the citizens of New Verdigris paid for. But fear not, heroes. I will bless you with new weapons, armor, and tools to aid in your quest."
Alacar bit his lip. "Why is it our quest? Why couldn't it have been someone else's quest? Can't we say no?"
"You may leave, if you wish. But if you do, the village of New Verdigris will be decimated, its inhabitants slain, or worse, and the Dragonspine will house a great evil that will become more powerful than you can handle at your current strength."
"I am not here to face evil, but seeking knowledge is my purpose." Alasters mind flairs with possibilities.
"I will aid you and this town, show me the path you have set before us and bless me with your aid, my mind is sharp and able" Alaster begins to show excitement in his emotions, the chance to learn and discover the true knowledge of this land beems within him.
"I believe my mind is capable of aiding these people and I shall assist as best I can. I am ready"

"You know, it's always an ancient evil." Aliiryn complains. Her friends know, though, that once she starts this, it's virtually guaranteed she'll go along with it.
"Why can't it be a heretofore unheard of evil? A new one? Nope, it's older than Elminster and twice as ugly."
The warmage tosses her head.
"I don't like the sound of innocent people dying, and I know there's Fire Knives and servants of the Black Hand out in these catacombs, so tell me what else we're up against... it seems that I'll have to put that vacation on hold for a bit."
