Sorry for the delay. My work schedule has been crazy the last few days. Plan to do some work tonight on my character.
When rolling stats do you re-roll ones? I'm pretty sure this is just a house rule my group uses. Our logic was that we are heroes. Heroes don't roll 1's. I never was one for picking stats as it allows too much polish IMO. Half the fun with this game is the rolling of dice. Sometimes they love you sometimes not.

I think the suggested method (and what I used for my character) is to do the 32 standard pointbuy. Each ability starts at 8, and then you use the pointbuy system to spread the 32 points around. It feels a little tight, but you can work it to make your character how you want.
EDIT: Reading all of what you wrote is tech. I would reroll a one. I think that is usually how most groups do it.
I usually don't use re-rolls unless the base power level is higher than 32-point buy. Heroic characters have flaws, too. (A dirty little secret of mine is that when I have to roll for stats, I actually enjoy getting low rolls because it forces me to rethink how to build my character. :P)
Don't worry too much about finishing quickly, since I'm guaranteed to be the last one ready as I only decided to do this a few days ago and I still don't have a complete campaign written up. I've been updating the Aventyr Bestiary and the pantheon of deities a bit, but I've still got to finalize the plot for this campaign.

I tend to be a min-maxer, I enjoy having really powerful relevant ability scores, and then really low non-relevant ability scores, such as intelligence in the case of Barbarian. While it can sometimes leave you at a disadvantage in certain situations where you might need to be smarter, it can produce some humorous incidents as well, and it makes your character a house when it comes to their strengths. 'Sides, no one needs to be perfect in every stat.
Edit: Wow.. those are the worst stats I have ever rolled.. ever. Wish I was playing my house rolls. We have another house rule where if you roll 3 1's in a stat roll it is an automatic 18. Whoops.. Not enough copy and pastes. Here goes nothing
Not familiar with this rule. Care to enlighten me?
Quote from PHBI »
If your scores are too low, you may scrap them and roll all six scores
again. Your scores are considered too low if the sum of your
modifiers (before adjustments because of race) is 0 or lower, or if
your highest score is 13 or lower.
^
I usually suggest point buy because getting higher than average rolls doesn't help you as much as getting lower than average rolls hurts you.
At least the dice are kind to you in one aspect! If you get the health from good rolls you can still play a tanky character just fine with the +2 in STR or DEX
Remember that you get to increase one of your ability scores by 1 at 4th level. I usually make all my scores even by default unless I'm making a middle-aged (or venerable) character but anything works, really.
Heh. I'm having all sorts of fun coming up with past (mis)adventures that Cade has been in. Makes for good entries in the "friends/contacts" and "enemies" boxes.
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
A little back story on Eeo Tamnil - Trail Guide Extraordinaire
Eeo has spent his years doing various jobs (Hired Goon, Kitchen Rat, Stable Hand, Thief, Beggar (Thief), Sorcerer’s Apprentice). Eventually, he found his niche. Having known for some time that he had the ability to cause mishap in those around him if he wished, he came up with a wonderful plan while travelling between two cities. Between these cities was a trail that took travellers along a treacherous pass between a steep cliff and a raging set of rapids. Not knowing the route, Eeo hired a local guide to travel with him. During the trip however the two became rather unhappy with each other after an argument about some trivial matter involving a comment involving people from a specific region. Well the guide just happened to be from that region and took offence. So Eeo did the only thing he really could have done and that was to curse his guide. After a short time his guide had an unfortunate slip and fell into the rapids.
This made Eeo rather cross as he did not know the region and knew the only map was on his guide. After a short hike to the end of the rapids (the river falls off a 200’ cliff and pools rather nicely in a small lake) he was able to recover the body. Not only did Eeo get the map but he also claimed a rather nice bounty of gold and gear. Dead men can’t use gold so why not he figured. Eeo didn’t actually kill him or anything. He just fell. This of course gave Eeo an idea which is where he has been since then. As many, many people have unfortunately died while travelling this pass the price and need for guides is through the roof! Even the other guides seemed to always have accidents. Business is good.

Sverah checks no boxes in the friends/contacts section, but she has a lot of checkmarks in the "enemy" category.
Quick question; bestiary related... Do we have the standard fantasy creatures? I am working on a list of enemies that Sverah has racked up, and one is a troll and another is an Ogre, and I was just curious if they exist in our world or not.
Mythweavers just ate my character sheet. Back to the beginning... Oh well.
Do any of you ever have trouble thinking of character names? I can always come up with every character detail except a name. It's mildly frustrating
Character creation is my favorite part, names can be tough. I usually try and start with an origin, and then go from there. For example, my character is a Barbarian, went with a Nordic style, googled Nordic names. Svea came up, liked that, but ended up modifying it a little.
What race are you playing?
Background? Like... Where is the character from (a city, village, forest, ect)
The nittygritty details always drag me down. I need to sit down and level Sverah up to six properly, buy her gear, and then finish adding in the text portions, at that point I'll be done. The concept phase is always the most fun though.

Those both exist. Outside of Angels, Demons, Dragons, Undead, which are all nonexistent, there are some other exceptions off the top of my head.
Outsiders with the good or evil subtype
Dragons and anything draconic
Undead
Psionic anything (and I forgot to forbid psionics)
Ethereal creatures
Illithids
Most constructs don't exist or are exceedingly rare
Fleshraker dinosaurs
Sharns
Shadow creatures connected to the Plane of Shadow
Kender
Warforged
Psuedonatural creatures
Off the top of my head.
Also one thing I forgot to mention is that long-range teleportation spells and abilities don't work, only tactical-scale like Dimension Door. Teleportation is done via a different means. Individuals can teleport between the runic nodes that dot the landscape of Aventyr, but not to mention the danger most runic rodes present, none of your characters know the process or ritual required to use a runic node.

Yeah, I mentioned that in the opening post. The short version is that Aventyr got sick of their constant good vs. evil fighting and banished them from the plane.
The real reason is that the good vs. evil thing is a factor as most of them are pretty polarized, but also the fact that dragons seem to be present in every single campaign without fair and I want to explore a world where that isn't a factor. It is not any real hate for dragons, trust me. It can be really fun to make custom dragon NPCs and foes...

Reading is tech, I think I read that and then forgot, lol. My bad. Makes sense.

I actually want to get honest opinions as far as my ability scores go;
17 Str
14 Dex
15 Con
8 Int
12 Wis
9 Cha
I'm just debating trying to make them more even, or sticking with the no guts no glory, lol. Also without a single 18, which makes me boo.
Har har.
