"What's there to scout? Trees and other fegetation, maybe a shroom or two. If you feel like chasing them, go ahead and run around into the jungle, but I suggest we got on our way along the coast." Zan responds to Ashruevel. "Everyone remembered to get their share of stuff to carry? Good." He continues and starts walking along the beach, motioning others to follow him. Suddenly, Ventas interrupts him by finding a wreck of a woman lying bloody in there. "Alive? Can he walk, and if not, do we have healing or will we do a favour by stabbing her? We probably can't carry her away."

Naturally, since I decided Amarra would be unconscious from the wreck, I'm forgoing any search/listen/spot check unless told to do otherwise.
Amarra opened her eyes as soon as the first drops hit her skin.
She immediately tried to speak, but ended up with a mouthful of water, and quickly began to choke, spit, and gag. Seeing Ventas with the waterskin, she called out, "What in the hells is the matter with you?!" She coughed a few more times before continuing."I'm a person, not a damned plant!"
"Be a bit more thankful there, if he hadn't noticed you you would be feeding plants soon enough." Zan says, looking down at Amarra.
"Women."

Ventas shrugs, his expression undisturbed. "Fine. Next time I'll leave you bleeding and unconscious on the beach."
He seems to be deciding whether to help her up or not, then he shrugs. More to himself than to her, he says "We might be stuck here for a while. Might as well inspire a feeling of teamwork and solidarity amongst everyone."

Amarra turned to Zan. "Oh, I appreciate someone waking me up, but pouring their entire canteen on me isn't the way to do it."
When Ventas extended his hand, she took it without another word. For her, not responding to someone's outburst was about as far as she'd go for apologizing for one of her own.
When she was son her feet, she turned to look at the ground she was laying on, trying to figure out what had been pricking her back.
Well, boar-wolves are common. They hunt in packs and tend to maul stranded survivors shipwrecked on deserted islands.
It could be a dozen other things. And it gets worse if it's inhabited. Being far out to sea as you likely are, there could be wild tribes of kobolds, goblins or cannibalistic humans.
"Can you walk or do you need healing? This wreck is bound to attract scavengers, and I would want to leave as soon as possible." Zan says, looking at the lady making her recovery. "Waiting to get ambushed is not the best plan of action, I assure."

He lifts his head to the sky, shouting "I know you're up there, smartass. Were you waiting for me to notice you were gone, or just to suddenly hit me from behind when I wasn't looking?"
There's a sharp cry, and a blur of feathers shoots down from seemingly nowhere. The falcon flares its wings, adjusts its course, and lands neatly on Ventas' shoulder. "Knew you'd be fine," Ventas says to the falcon. "It's not like you aren't used to flying around in a hurricane."
Same stats and everything as a hawk familiar, but I figured a falcon was more appropriate for a storm-mage.

"So, do you go actively seeking natural hazards or do they just occur to you more often than they should." Zan asks curiously from Ventas.

"Hold it, I am fairly certain we just found better sources of food than a bird that small. It's mostly feathers anyway." Zan says, trying to calm the two of them down. "But remind me to kill you if I ever find out you had anything to do with the hurricane that got us wrecked to this shore." He continues, in a very serious tone, to Ventas, before proceeding to draw his daggers, glancing at the ambushers and jumping to cover behind any nearby rock or shipwreck piece.

Ventas is about to assure Zan that he's nowhere near powerful enough to summon a hurricane, when the dart strikes him in the shoulder. He jerks with a snarl as the falcon takes flight from the opposite shoulder.

As he dashes for cover, he hisses out an arcane word and a defensive gesture. An invisible plane of force hovers in the air in front of Ventas as he ducks down behind a large chunk of splintered wood.

Amarra, having just pocketed the bag of precious gems, manages to avoid the dart just enough to prevent it from doing any real harm.
In a flash of light, Amarra's previously flowing garments give way to a pair of pauldrens, gauntlets, greaves, boots, and a breastplate that appear to be made out of stone. However, when she moved, the joints quickly broke down to sand, and fell off of her body.
Amarra immediately follows Ventas to cover, but seems to try and position herself between him and the direction from where the attacks came from. When she stopped moving, the missing pieces in her armor reformed.
She quietly said to Ventas, "Keep your head down. I'll try and draw them out when I can." Even as she spoke, she kept her eyes peeled for further attacks.
Mage Armor and then ran to cover. Yeah, I know the casting and description of the armor was flashy for a level-one spell, but I figured I'd try and make it mimic her eccentric personality.

"Ugh, I was excpecting that..." grunted Ashruevul, taking the dart in the gut. As he motions with arcane gestures, a slightly tangible barrier surrounds his body. As this force field manifests, it sends a billowing cloud of black smoke directly infront of Ashruevul. He then moves in the opposite direction of the cloud (and enemies,) turns around, and drops to a prone position.
...why are people already acting?
So I cast Mage armour, using cloudy conjuration 5ft ahead of me, and moved backwards 30 ft in the opposite direction, and dropped to prone as a free action (using the cloud to obscure my movement, and prone position to further increase my AC versus ranged attacks.

Question for ASA: How far away is the jungle from Ventas' position?
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
Mainly because ASA already posted the actions of the enemies, and because we tend to make first-round actions with initiative rolls. We're on a forum and in different time zones, so it really helps to keep things moving.
You guys! started without me.... now how do i make this into a positive?

"Doing everything on the open is precisely why mortals are so stupid" comes a voice behind a piece of wreckage, Rovanam had been mostly untouched by the storm, no true follower of Deiken Rensetsu would fall victim to such a simple test as weathering a storm, as such he had managed to remain awake and unscathed most of the ordeal and had found a rather nice spot to rest and let the serfs do all the work, after all why should he, an obviously superior creature, have to lower himself to help the foolish mortals who cannot even handle a simple test such as a storm?
The attack was an obvious outcome to his superior mind as well, the possibility the island, if indeed this was an island, could be inhabited was high and the chance any locals could be hostile was just, if not more likely, to also be the case. Of course Rovanam knew all this but what point is there to explain the logic of greater beings to creatures such as the ones he find himself with?
"I suppose i should be magnanimous and provide them with a measure of salvation, mortals being so helpless and all, it's just the proper course for us higher beings" he says as he turns to survey the location and see which pathetic creature needs him more.
