Sitting in a large, dimly lit auditorium, you hear people around you whispering, wondering what's going on. Looking around, you see people of all ages, shapes, colors. There has to be over 100 people in this small auditorium right now. Something you notice is that a fair number of them have a familiar-looking piece of paper. It looks just like the stationary that made up the letter you received recently. The one with the McClaren Manor letterhead. You must all be here for the same reason: the chance to get your life back.
As you continue to look around, the room goes dark. More confused whispers, then a spotlight hits the stage. A well-dressed man in a black suit is illuminated in the middle of it. His short black hair is combed forward, and appears to have some gel in it. He has an average build, semi-muscular, and has his hands behind his back. He approaches the microphone, taps it, and clears his throat.
Looking around the auditorium, he smiles. In a calm, soft voice, he says "Ah, I'm glad you all could make it. I will be your Host for the games later. My name is irrelevant. All you need to know is that I'm here to help you acclimate to the game setting, should you be chosen to participate. I'm also here to help you have fun." He smiles warmly to the audience. "Under your chairs is a pamphlet to help you learn the rules to the game you will be playing; I advise you read them before signing up. I should also inform you that you're going to need to sign a few waivers should you be chosen, as this game is very... high risk.
As he says this, you lean under your chair and find a pamphlet. You're fairly sure it wasn't there when you sat down. You note that the title of the pamphlet is "Mafia for Dummies".
The Host speaks again: "Everyone read up. I'm going to leave you to this. There will be people taking down your names. Then we will randomly select 12 of you to participate in our game. Good luck!" All of a sudden, there's a flash on the stage. The Host is gone. All this has given you a lot to think about.
Welcome to McClaren Manor Mafia! This is a Basic for 12 players, and my first crack at moderating! It will be extremely flavorful, and hopefully fun for you all.
This game was reviewed by Arnnaria and Prophylaxis.
Disclaimer: The flavor may get a bit... intense at times. Probably not for the faint of heart.

I will have a spectator thread if we have more than 12 players sign up to play. Preferably 14. There will be a dead player's thread.

KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.

Flavor sounds fun. I'd /in if I had time right now, but I'm transitioning jobs, so probably not the best timing. Put me down for /replace, with an eye to /in depending on when it fires.

Welcome back, Rodemy.
I'm sad this game isn't firing. I might try to revamp it into a Mini then to fit with player demands.
