When I started, I was not thinking as hard about time commitments, and hadn't played mafia on here before, so I was much more distracted (and a little out of my depth) when I was looking at this page, and was (somewhat overconfidently) trying to form quick reads on people from early posts. And I'm sorry about that. I should have been taking things more seriously, and have shifted my attitude towards this as such.
Are you joking DV? You're being super scummy, that does not make the second, third or fourth person saying you're scummy opportunistic. Just straight up, a not-Merlin claim is anti-town, even if you are Percy. Wagoning on any vote is scummy. Use your friggin brain, don't sheep, sheep are scum. Oh hey, here's a good way to tell a scum member out of the first mission... IT FAILS. WTF, seriously!? This is not a regular game of Mafia, it's three strikes and you're out or Merlin gets hit in the head by a pitch and dies and we lose. Both scenarios you are actively contributing to. Not reading the rules? Scummy.
I had silver on the list earlier, but he's dropped off because he seems to think DV's claim cleared him instead of condemned him.
Which pretty clearly indicates you thought D_V was scum because of his claim.
Like. In the space of six hours you went from just not liking that he was willing to vote any quest through to reversing your town read on me because you thought he should be consigned to the pits of scum-hell, never to quest again? @everyone: I'm fine with myself (obviously), Vaimes, Osi (whaaaat?), and Mindreaver on quests. I do have some reservations with sending D_V but generally speaking I think he's town. I'm apparently not as sure on Rhand as the rest of you are, but I admit that's related to my tinfoiling a few pages back (which is basically, what if he's scum with Cantrip and he put him on a team that was otherwise town?) but I'd probably accept a quest containing him. Still can't read Cantrip that well, but. I'd probably allow him on a quest if for no reason other than that if it passes with no fails I can stop tinfoiling Rhand. Other quests will be considered on a case by case basis.
Also, look forward to my vote analysis after this quest. My last exam for a few weeks is tomorrow and now that we have a fail I should be able to do some this weekend. Hopefully it's useful since it's the only hard data we have.
Also also, I hope no one asks me to explain my Osi read since I can't except to say "no really, I'm Merlin and I think I know who Mordred is."
Like. In the space of six hours you went from just not liking that he was willing to vote any quest through to reversing your town read on me because you thought he should be consigned to the pits of scum-hell, never to quest again?
Did you read his overreaction on #116?
Combine that with everything else, it was basically a signed confession.

Yes, I read that. It's uh. Not much of an overreaction? But that's beside the point.
What I'm saying is, you just said you weren't sure he was scum in #103, but then six hours later you said he was basically lock scum for the claim(s) he made in #51 and #66. I was wondering what changed in your thought process between the two statements if the first one is true. You're going with "he overreacted in #116" even though you haven't said until now that you thought that was an overreaction? At the time you went after him for not reading the rules, not for overreacting to Vaimes.
Explicitly, I feel like you're making a post hoc explanation for your D_V reads that isn't consistent with the read you actually had, or at least seemed to have, at the time.
@silver: you can read through all of my posts on DV and it's very clear. You are really reaching here. I've explained my read on him in several very detailed posts. The fact that you are trying to focus me on this aspect of the game more than anything else is frustrating when I already feel like I spent too much time on it.
I want to reread Rhand before I commit, I think. Proph is sort of iffy but I guess he's the most likely to be town out of my "nulls." Overall I think the team is ok as a compromise between the wildly different opinions we have... but it doesn't alleviate my concern over the potential Rhand/Cantrip ace scum team since they've nominated each other now. Though I guess if that is the case either we're getting a second quest for free to "clear" him or there's one scum in Proph/Mindreaver, too, so...
Actually, I guess I talked myself into it.
vote: Yes
@Terry: Your feelings on D_V were clear, or at least I thought they were, until you said this "I wasn't certain D_V was scum in #103" thing. I have an issue with the way you're presenting your progression because it doesn't appear to match what you're trying to say it was.
Anyway. I'm not super interested in this anymore so we can drop it. I just thought it was weird that you said that and wanted to point it out. If your defense is going to be "nuh-uh go reread" after I've already reread that page twice today to make sure I didn't miss something, there's not really anything else to say about it.
@Silver: "I don't like DV" in #103 does not equal "I'm certain DV is scum" so it was a bit of a misrepresentation by AG in #752, I pointed that out. Simple.
Erm. AG asked what made you so sure he was scum at #103. Like. To me, the question is "at that point in the game, why did you think that D_V was scum?"
Not "what is the literal meaning of the words you posted in #103?"
Though I guess I could see you thinking it was the second thing? But even then, like, six hours later you were sure. So. You're just going to say #116 flipped your read from thinking he was scum to knowing, I guess, but it still seems strange to me. Meh.

Anyways, since you seem to be here discussing things, what do you think about the omission of Shadow from that party?
Not particularly. He's dug himself a grave and I understand if Cantrip doesn't want to nominate either of them since it's almost certainly one of the two. I just happen to think it's shadow, so. Like. I wouldn't vote yes on a quest with shadow on it. Neither would Rhand, I guess, and a couple other people. You, at least, and probably some others wouldn't vote yes on a quest with D_V on it, which I disagree with but understand too. At least that's consistent with your reads.
Therefore to maximize the chance of the quest going through, it should not have D_V or shadow on it. Although. Hrm.
I sort of think that we should be choosing, not quests that are the most likely to go through, but quests that we think are most likely to have all town players on them. Better data on who is rejecting quests with no scum on them and allowing quests with scum on them that way.

Huh. I feel like this quest is likely to fail by 1 vote from Mindreaver (Or maybe, though unlikely, Proph *sigh*). But it's an interesting quest anyways.
I'm really tired — today was a very long day. I'm going to wait until tomorrow when I have a clear head before voting on this quest proposal. But I'm guessing this gets 1 fail vote from Mindreaver.
I do realize I'm super phoning in this game right now, but every time I try to post in the mornings or in the evenings I just get distracted.

I'm trying to say I have you both in my null section, and I don't quite know how I'm going to resolve that. I think other people are there too, but for some reason have lumped Brin in with scum (see Rhand's lists) and you with Town (See Osi/RSJT).
How come you don't question Brinatoo or me, then? I may be super disengaged but I can still answer questions and the like. Are my answers not telling you enough or not?
Like sure, you can say you "don't get it" but at least extend the olive branch a little and get part of the way there.
Rhand: Can you give me a update on your reads progression on Mind? You said he's scum, then town, then scum again - I get why you moved him from scum to town, but I don't understand why you moved him from town to scum unless I missed something?
reminder for me to look at Brinatoo/AGod after I turn in my CS project
Feels like I haven't interacted with them at all this game and I want to change that.
I also want to reread osieorb. #702 has pretty townie language ("game is now solved", "hope you can see Silver and I are right") but I feel like I have waaaaay too many townreads for a game with five scum in it.
I feel like JoeTerry is just fixating on D_V to the exclusion of any and all other scumreads. Still wouldn't really put him on a quest given that he proposed a failed one.
Vote Yes
I like this quest but I want Rhand/Vaimes's input on it.
Quote from osieorb »
That probably gets 1 fail from Mindreaver, unless he decides to play things really risky for scum and let it pass.
I may have missed it, but why do you think Mindreaver is scum? I think he's likely town.
I really want to dedicate more time to this game but I've just been unable to. Sorry guys for being such a crummy replacement, I just can't seem to have a good game on MTGS nowadays.
Quote from Mindreaver »
@Osi - Do you think this will fail? By how many votes? Who is to blame? I'm not moving forward until you answer these questions.
You /do/ realize that osieorb literally answered all of these questions in his post above, right?
If any of you guys need anything pressing from me, please @ me or ask me a question so I can reply to it, or else you're going to get more of 12:30 AM Proph, which is not the Proph you want to be seeing playing this game.
Also @Proph : in the last few days I've also expressed that I have scum reads to varying extents on Rhand and Osi. I was waiting for a response from Cantrip on why he chose to remove shadow AND dv before I voted, but at the moment I am leaning no

@Rhand - Taking a page from your book here. There is one scum on there, and it's not me.
He's trying to not pass the quest Mind. I would not be surprised if this one doesn't fail.
vote: yes
If this one passes, then we know almost the whole town team.
If it fails with one vote, then I'm pretty sure Mind is scum. Which should make a team of Rhand + Vaimes + Silver + Proph + DV + Shadow a winning team for Q4 and Q5. (It should generate exactly 1 fail vote)
If it fails with 2 votes, then it's probably Mind + silver. Which makes Rhand + Vaimes + Proph + DV + Shadow + anyone else a winning team.
Here's to praying I read Proph correctly though.
I know there's more stuff I need to respond to, I'll get to that later.
@Rhand: You analysis is forgetting Oberon. The scum team only know 3 of their teammates, they aren't as knowledgeable as you are assuming.
No, Oberon is Brinatoo, Terry or Mindreaver.
Wouldn't scum be the only people who could actually narrow down who Oberon is? I understand you think there is scum in that group (I Agree), but how do do you know it isn't assassin/mordred/morgana?
@Proph - I know he answered that, I was being a bit sarcastic, because he's said it 3 times in 4 posts.
Because I still believe Osie slipped in that one post, and that would mean that he knows who 3 of his buddies are and tries to get them on quests. One of them is DV or shadow, the other AG or Cantrip.
It is possible that Oberon is Proph or the other in AG/Cantrip, but I'm pretty convinced Proph is town and have been reading Cantrip as town as well, so I doubt that.
I'm also hoping for a pass, but I'm leery of the Rhand/Proph/Cantrip bloc. But I'm willing to go with this. @Rhand - If there are 2 fail votes here, I'm convinced it's you and Proph, and I'm never letting go. I'll agree to your proposal that I get subbed out for D_V/Shadow if there is 1 fail (Silver/D_V/Vaimes/Shadow will generate 1 fail, and you/Proph shouldn't).
Well, we have the 6 yes votes. (Proph, D_V, Rhand, Silver, Vaimes, Mindreaver.)
@AG, @Rhand: I don't have the time at the moment to fully respond to you two (In regards to Terry and my quest suggestion post). More to come sometime later this week. Specifically in regards to your post 783, though, AG, it's not 100% clear what D_V's alignment is, and it was even less clear at the time, but at this point I'm leaning town. There's 1 scum between you, D_V, and Proph. If all my reads are correct, that's you, but I still have enough doubt on the situation that testing is worthwhile. Mindreaver has started to become a conundrum, though. I believe that he's scum, at least for now, but we'll see how this quest goes.
I'm also hoping for a pass, but I'm leery of the Rhand/Proph/Cantrip bloc. But I'm willing to go with this. @Rhand - If there are 2 fail votes here, I'm convinced it's you and Proph, and I'm never letting go. That really wasn't my intent. I was writing that when I got the update of Silver's, and didn't see Vaimes' post until I hit submit. I think you can tell by my language that I wanted my vote to count, for the votal analysis, but I wasn't expecting to be the hammer.
I was really hoping to put Cantrip on the spot with an explanation request, but too late. I guess for votal Analysis I would have Vote: NO. This shouldn't be the quest party. The quest party should have been Q2-DV+VAIMES+???. The ??? was what I was hoping I could hash out with a Cantrip explanation. I'm kind of liking AG for the ??? at this point.

@Terry: What made you so certain D_V was scum at post #103?
Well, here's a bombshell from the early game. Interesting party from the guy who was hard scumreading Rhand and D_V.
@D_V: what were you going on about in #329?
I've got some ideas, but I'll finish my reread tomorrow.

As for this, at the time this was a way of trying to get a good read on silver.
Certain is a bit of a stretch AG. I didn't like that he just declared himself a blind sheep and go along with whatever people posted.
And then two hours after that you posted this: Which pretty clearly indicates you thought D_V was scum because of his claim.

Umm, I wrote it write there. You quoted it. Why are you even asking besides mud-slinging?
Did you read his overreaction on #116?
Combine that with everything else, it was basically a signed confession.
If we were just basing on overreactions, wouldn't you be scumread a long time ago? Why should we trust this logic and think that D_V is scum?
Quest 3: Vaimes, Rhand, Mindreaver, Proph, Silver
I think that has a very high chance of passing, if we can get it to fire in the first place.
Yes, I read that. It's uh. Not much of an overreaction? But that's beside the point.
