I was busy getting gud in Dark Souls the last few hours. Now I am back.
After rereading the thread and the threads Rodemy played in, this Rodemy feels very much town for me, it is just that he is too aggressive most of the time, which makes him an easy target for maf members.
Again, I would suggest against lynching anyone this early into day one.

wow.. that was the fastest 180 i have seen since vaimea switched his biggest town read and his biggest scum read overNight in bare bones. Haha.
What are your thoughts on vaimes townclearing you?

Thank you for choosing
Rodemy Pizza
It’s not the best choice, but it’s a choice nonetheless
After rereading the thread and the threads Rodemy played in, this Rodemy feels very much town for me
Can you elaborate on what made you feel this way?
Rodemy is aggressively trying to lynch someone every game when he was town. Then the mafia convinced town to lynch him, like in Janken. Mafia Rodemy is similarly aggressive but lurks a lot more and generally does not contribute to town's progress.

How large of a reference pool is that based on?
Janken Mafia, Basic Mafia.
I know the pool is small, but what is your experience of Rod that suggest otherwise?

I’m town.
Ophidia is a fairly strong townread. I think the VT claim makes much more sense coming from town who hasn’t really gotten a chance to play the game. He’s not that experienced, so if he were scum here, I think he’d want to be more careful, more self-conscious about his own survival, and ask his buddies/mentor for advice. And I highly doubt anyone would encourage newbscum to claim anything on page one. I also doubt Ophidia yolo’d the claim and did it without consulting his mentors or buddies about it. However, I could see him yolo’ing it as town, since he’s town and cares more about being able to play than thinking over how his actions affect the rest of his (larger, unknown to him) team.
(As an aside, I’m actually surprised at the amount of reasoning I just typed out for this read. Man.)

I have a gut-ish townread on Rhand. Don’t really know much of his meta, but him making a case on page two out of RVS tells is +town for him, I think. I’m basing this on his play in OTG.
I actually think Rod is town, or at the very least, not someone I want to lynch Day 1. He seems a lot less mudslingy and accusatory, and is seeking out clarification more. Plus, he’s active and engaged as either alignment, which is always a treat.
shadow has some posts that ping genuine. Being annoyed at having to read Rod (because trying to read Rod is a headache and a half), and sad that he failed to pocket me. His unvote of Rod also weakly pinged sincere, in that I could see the gears turning in his head w/r/t Rod.

I see you asking a lot of questions. How have the answers helped you in figuring out who the mafia are?
Fairly certain Ophidia is town because I planned on doing the exact same thing he did. Also, he has a mentor and did it, before asking the mentor, further making me believe he’s town. Sure he could do that as scum, but he has a lot less to gain and much more to risk. As a noob (if you’re not a noob, my apologies), claiming VT straight up seems more likely than scum, which I imagine you’d be more paranoid and cautious first run around.
Post #37 by shadowlancer read interestingly to me, but lean town.
Post #44: At this point I actually think Rodemy is just eager town trying to actively hunt and getting a lot of attention too quickly for something I could totally see myself doing as town. Earlier his posts seemed like scum trying to create an easy mislynch, but as it progressed it seems much more like eager town theory-gaming and tunneling. More interested in Rhand and how quickly he jumped on and supported the Rodemy wagon. Going to look over that in a bit.
Huntz reading town for active posts like #101 and #118. Overall attitude and genuine lines of questioning come off as inherently town.
As hinted at in my post, Rhand is the player I'm most suspicious of right now. Not really fond of how his position on the Rodemy wagon right now, and am planning on reading more into that in the morning.
How do you feel about him? Between him and Rodemy, which do you think is more likely town? Do you think they can both be town?

If the mod confirmed that there was only one town between them, I'd say it was Rod.
But this early, I don't see why they can't both be town.
Red Omega, seeing that you asked us all these questions
get used to it, that is what I do
What is your opinion on:
1. D_V's accusations on atog
Atogaholic's vote looks like standard RVS voting, shadowlancerx made a nearly identical vote ~45 minutes later
his next post does come across as opportunistic, but I would like to hear what he has to say in defense; I do not think it warrants a vote in and of itself
2. Vaimes' support on me
I am not sure that I understand what you are asking; do you want to know if I think that it is convincing or genuine?
I have no reason to doubt his sincerity, but his accuracy is not necessarily something I am sold on, since it basically comes down to meta.
either way, your question comes off as extremely self-conscious and fishing for town-cred; it is pretty gross really
3. lynching Rodemy
I think that I already addressed this, unless there other points against him that I missed
I thought zomg’s RVS vote was really funny, but unfortunately, NAI. I’m still going to put him in my leaning-town-but-not-really-sure group.
I see you asking a lot of questions. How have the answers helped you in figuring out who the mafia are?
I always ask a lot of questions, I think that it is an effective way to generate discussion and get a better idea of players' motivations. Asking for clarification on something does not necessarily mean that find it scummy though.
To answer your question, I'm trying to get a better handle on a few people, but not anything I feel sure enough about to call out as of yet.

this is a good post; I particularly agree regarding Rodemy
The one's where he's prodding around, asking questions.
I liked 47, how he described his thought process for how his read shifted on Ophidia and Rod.
Do you think it's better to withhold everything you're thinking until you're more certain, or to let everyone know where you stand at a given moment and where you're (thinking of) going?
The one's where he's prodding around, asking questions.

I took a look at the posts of his mentioned by Ghosting and feel better about him
Do you think it's better to withhold everything you're thinking until you're more certain, or to let everyone know where you stand at a given moment and where you're (thinking of) going?
I think that it is highly dependent upon the individual and the circumstance. I find that my playstyle (asking questions and seeing what the answers and reactions turn up) is more effective when I do not tip my hand too early, and my natural inclination is to play things close to the vest anyway.
That being said, once I find something worth taking a better look at I will definitely point it out, and I am always willing to answer questions about my thoughts on any specific player/issue.
I feel like you're town Vaimes, and if not, you're at least actively bringing out opinions and reads, which creates a positive gamestate. I'm reading your attitude as engaged town though, and you remind me of how I play when I'm not being lazy. In comparison, I feel that someone like red_0mega is playing very reactively than proactively, as in, I don't feel like he's creating more of the gamestate, but just existing within it. Not sure if what I'm thinking is coming across clearly, so I'll expand if I need to, but it leads me to believe you're more likely to be town than he is, so there's another read for you as well.
To expand on the r_O point, check out posts #133, #136, even #105 feels pretty lazy/pointless. This doesn't necessarily imply scum, just that I feel it's less likely to come from town. Doesn't really read as genuine participation, just floating along and trying to blend in/look like he's trying.
Pick one of my reads that you disagree with the most and talk to me about why that might be the case.
I do not recall saying that I disagree with your reads other than the 3 that I specifically mentioned:
Huntzilla - looking better to me
Ophidia - your defense of him amounts to meta and I do not find that particularly compelling; I really do not like his opaque "what do you think of me?" question to me, and a few other things rubbed me the wrong way
zomgarcwind - I have no idea how that post merits "leaning-town-but-not-really-sure"
I didn't say you disagreed with any of them. I just naturally assumed that our reads aren't exactly the same, and wanted you to talk about someone you felt differently about.
Rodemy is town. I waited the night to say that, because I was hoping that there would be opportunistic scum picking a side in our argument.
Let’s see what we we have.
I already thought so, but Ophidia is definitely town for this change of heart:
I was busy getting gud in Dark Souls the last few hours. Now I am back.

He wants to pick a side. And he’s forcing Vaimes to pick one too:
As hinted at in my post, Rhand is the player I'm most suspicious of right now. Not really fond of how his position on the Rodemy wagon right now, and am planning on reading more into that in the morning.
How do you feel about him? Between him and Rodemy, which do you think is more likely town? Do you think they can both be town?
Other stuff:
Did Atog ever give a reason for absence? I’ve got the feeling that he wanted Rod / me to play out before rejoining the conversation.
D_V and Hunt both make me feel uneasy for their soft townclears of me early on. Feels like buddying.
D_V’s read of Atog is too harsh based on 2 posts.
Red_Omega feels like he’s coasting. Lots of useless questions, and most aimed at obv_town Ophidia.
It also bothers me how omega keeps on liking posts I dislike
I like Vaimes for his T/S. I was planning on doing the same. And his T/S is very similar to mine.
@Vaimes: what does green mean?
I do like Ghosting’s read on Omega.

I'm here. Reading the thread and will post more by the end of the day. As I said in the signup thread, my availability through the 27th is uncertain. In addition to the holidays, I'm apparently going to try riding a luge 'round the countryside...wish me luck.
Rodemy is ALWAYS overly self-conscious; it's NAI for him. But he's out in the spotlight, unafraid to make waves, which, as someone else mentioned, I think, makes him more likely town.
Rhand felt strongly town to me (especially #49 and #60)...until 142. Rhand, am I correct that you are saying Ghosting is opportunistic scum for attacking Rodemy? If so, why are you agreeing with him and going after Omega? Do you think Ghosting is bussing?
Questions:
@Ophidia: I see your name and it makes me think of Ophelia, so I keep thinking you're female. Are you actually male? Just curious/helps me keep my notes straight.
@Vaimes:
1. Why does Rodemy's age matter (#26)?
2. How serious were you in #27 regarding Ophidia's unprompted VT claim? Erp, now that I've actually taken the time to research my third question, I guess it answers this one, but maybe confirm for me: that was a serious statement?
3. Why are you being unhelpful with your response in #124? Rhand had asked that question quite a while back (#49), and your generic "no" response was not helpful. Why be obnoxious?
@Rodemy: Why do you think Ophidia's response in #42 was Eco-Coaching?
@Zomg: Why did you make your rvs-vote a drawing?
@Ghosting: In #127, can you explain what you found interesting about Shadow's #37?
@Hunt: In #47 you seemed to be agreeing with Omega that Ophidia was scummy, but you immediately backtrack and say she's not. You then do something similar with Rodemy saying that you suspected him, but his subsequent posts have made you feel better about him. You then...rvs-vote??? Can you walk me through your mindset for that post?
I'm glad to see that pressure is being applied to Omega, as he's definitely my #1 scumspect. Here's why:
• His opening posts of 39-40 are a bit odd, as he's barning opposing views, but phone-posting, so whatever, but:
@Omega: Why is it a good thing that you checked "today"? Why would it have made a difference if you had checked later?
• In #40 he naked barns Rod's attack on Ophidia without a vote or additional input/explanation, which is never helpful.
• #59 and #63 he only responds to questions directed at him; no other comments on the game.
• #74 he posts just asking about lingo (pocketing).
• I feel like by #80, Ophidia's town status is pretty likely and obvious, so Omega's questioning of Vaimes' town!clearing Ophidia feels like beating a dead horse.
• #83 is a very weak jab at Ophidia for agreeing with someone Ophidia thinks is scum (Rod). Ophidia's not agreeing with Rod's reads or opinions; she's agreeing with (rather basic) good gameplay.
• #85 and #88 is more lingo-explaining/response, but that's NAI in and of itself.
• #105 feels like a smear on Hunt, like Omega's reaching for a reason to cast suspicion.
@Omega: In #110, who (Ophidia or Rodemy) were you hoping to gain insight into with this question, and what did you learn?
• #110, #114, and #116 feel like busyposting, with a mild conciliatory tone in #116.
• #132 Omega starts posting substance, but he's under pressure. Also, he's still attacking Ophidia pretty smearily ("extremely self-conscious and fishing for town-cred; it is pretty gross really"), and while he says he's asking questions, I don't feel like they're hard-hitting questions.
• #133 rings huge bells for me. Omega quotes Ghosting and makes a very generic "this is good, bro" statement, then highlights one of the safer parts (Rodemy's alignment). The other parts he thinks are "good" are:
- Ophidia's town-status (which Omega seems to disagree with previously) and Ghosting's reasoning, which is similar to Vaimes' reasoning, which Omega hasn't seemed to buy thus far.
- A generic "Zomg's post was interesting; leaning town".
- Hunt being town.
This just seems so subtle. Slight buddying followed by picking out one element so that it sounds like there's substance behind the post. And if he wants to reverse his stance on any of the other parts, he just handwaves the situation with "well, I didn't mean I agreed with everything Ghosting said, just that it was 'good'".

Omgosh, why did my url's not work? Argh. I have to go afk, but I'll try to make a new post that's readable in a little bit. Sorry. In the meantime, just read between the lines, I guess...
I thought I had to jet, but turns out I had a few minutes, so once more without the obnoxiousness.
Ok, so it was a pretty quick read.

Let's see what some pressure in this direction gets us.
How do YOU know what scum!Ophi would do?
After rereading the thread and the threads Rodemy played in, this Rodemy feels very much town for me, it is just that he is too aggressive most of the time, which makes him an easy target for maf members.
Again, I would suggest against lynching anyone this early into day one.
I have never been scum here, except that one time in Kirby's, in which I got lynched D1 because I appeared too town-like.
Why vouch for something that you're unsure of?
smoke_Killah
wow.. that was the fastest 180 i have seen since vaimea switched his biggest town read and his biggest scum read overNight in bare bones. Haha.
What are your thoughts on vaimes townclearing you?
That is why i am asking...
He may juts be a town that understands my motives,
or a maf that tries to win over my support.
I am torn between both atm.
Why are you fighting this read so hard?
Can you elaborate on what made you feel this way?
smoke_Killah
I'm just making sure scum know they won't be mislynching you.
Rodemy is aggressively trying to lynch someone every game when he was town. Then the mafia convinced town to lynch him, like in Janken. Mafia Rodemy is similarly aggressive but lurks a lot more and generally does not contribute to town's progress.
He attempted to make reads that never should have been reads seem legitimate.
How large of a reference pool is that based on?
smoke_Killah
Janken Mafia, Basic Mafia.
I know the pool is small, but what is your experience of Rod that suggest otherwise?
I was not suggesting otherwise, just wanted to know what you are basing that read on.
smoke_Killah
The read, my dear watson, has switched to you.
I saw you townclear for odd reasons before. So i shant suspect you for that.
It's the way you just assume that what he did shouldn't be read as scummy.
Like you are protecting him.
Except ophi clears as town for me now. I asked him about your town read. Reads well to me.
If he is scum, he'll probably lose out in the end.
@vaimes
Im gonna go ahead and assume you are town for now. You townclearing for reasons that are odd to me is not a reason to suspect you are scum.
@rhand. unvoteTruce for now? Good to let other people post. I know you've been around a while, so maybe you know more about scumtells than me.
But i wanna see other people who know you better pick at you before i make my final decision.
1. D_V's accusations on atog
2. Vaimes' support on me
3. lynching Rodemy
Oh. Wow. Points. Damn good ones.
Sorry ophi, even i'm impressed.
Atogs post of calling me scummy was also grabbed by rhand and he ran with it.
Is that what you mean by oppurtunistic?
i literally stopped playing mafia a while ago and just got back into it. So concider brb my first game with prior experience.
The answer is "no."

Mafia Stats 2016-2017:
Town: 1-0 | Scum: 2-0 | Neutral: 1-1
You sure do seem to like people.
Anyone you don't like?
As hinted at in my post, Rhand is the player I'm most suspicious of right now. Not really fond of how his position on the Rodemy wagon right now, and am planning on reading more into that in the morning.
How do you feel about him? Between him and Rodemy, which do you think is more likely town? Do you think they can both be town?
Mafia Stats 2016-2017:
Town: 1-0 | Scum: 2-0 | Neutral: 1-1
But this early, I don't see why they can't both be town.
It seems odd for town to vouch for someone else this early on with that little conviction
get used to it, that is what I do
Atogaholic's vote looks like standard RVS voting, shadowlancerx made a nearly identical vote ~45 minutes later
his next post does come across as opportunistic, but I would like to hear what he has to say in defense; I do not think it warrants a vote in and of itself
I think that I already addressed this, unless there other points against him that I missed
such as?
I always ask a lot of questions, I think that it is an effective way to generate discussion and get a better idea of players' motivations. Asking for clarification on something does not necessarily mean that find it scummy though.
To answer your question, I'm trying to get a better handle on a few people, but not anything I feel sure enough about to call out as of yet.
smoke_Killah
this is a good post; I particularly agree regarding Rodemy
smoke_Killah
I liked 47, how he described his thought process for how his read shifted on Ophidia and Rod.
Do you think it's better to withhold everything you're thinking until you're more certain, or to let everyone know where you stand at a given moment and where you're (thinking of) going?
Any variation of "idk" is unacceptable. Fire from the hip. There's no wrong answer.
I took a look at the posts of his mentioned by Ghosting and feel better about him
I think that it is highly dependent upon the individual and the circumstance. I find that my playstyle (asking questions and seeing what the answers and reactions turn up) is more effective when I do not tip my hand too early, and my natural inclination is to play things close to the vest anyway.
That being said, once I find something worth taking a better look at I will definitely point it out, and I am always willing to answer questions about my thoughts on any specific player/issue.
smoke_Killah
Pick one of my reads that you disagree with the most and talk to me about why that might be the case.
Mafia Stats 2016-2017:
Town: 1-0 | Scum: 2-0 | Neutral: 1-1
Mafia Stats 2016-2017:
Town: 1-0 | Scum: 2-0 | Neutral: 1-1
I do not recall saying that I disagree with your reads other than the 3 that I specifically mentioned:
Huntzilla - looking better to me
Ophidia - your defense of him amounts to meta and I do not find that particularly compelling; I really do not like his opaque "what do you think of me?" question to me, and a few other things rubbed me the wrong way
zomgarcwind - I have no idea how that post merits "leaning-town-but-not-really-sure"
smoke_Killah
Let’s see what we we have.
I already thought so, but Ophidia is definitely town for this change of heart:
Ghosting fell for the trap it seems:
He wants to pick a side. And he’s forcing Vaimes to pick one too:
@Vaimes: what does green mean?
I do like Ghosting’s read on Omega.

Ophidia feels obvTown to me.
@Vaimes:
