"Keep it moving, keep it moving, we need to get this shipment in as soon as possible per the General's orders." You wave the truck in past the gates, not noticing the British MI6 agent sneaking in surreptitiously behind it.
Man, another boring day on guard duty. Nothing eventful ever happens around here.

Arkhangelsk Oblast, Russia, Chemical Weapons Facility
You sit down on the toilet and clear your throat, eyeing the magazine you brought in with you. You chuckle at the article, "Explosion at Chernobyl". Like that would ever happen here. The security is far too tight. You turn the page.
...
What was that?
You hear a rustling in the vents. You look up into the dark, steel grid of the air conditioning unit. Nothing.
"Is someone there?"
Your comrade from the urinal calls out, "Talking to yourself, again?"
"I thought I heard something. Must be my imagination."
You go back to your magazine and turn the page again. Again with the rustling. Then you hear a click and everything goes black.
-
Arkhangelsk Oblast, Russia, deep inside Chemical Weapons Facility
You hear the click of a gun slide being cocked and a round entering the chamber as the cold metal presses against the back of your skull.
"Put your hands up where I can see them. No sudden movements"
You oblige, recognizing the voice, a smile coming to your face.
"Alec. So glad you could make it."
"For England, James?"
"For England, Alec."
You rendezvous with 006, discussing the path you took to the chemical bottling room.
"Well, you know the drill, 007. Time to blow this place up."
You nod, setting the explosives in place.
"HALT!"
General Arkady Oroumov. Not who you were expecting to join you today.
"Where do you think you're going, comrades?"
"Just out for a stroll, General."
Oroumov smiled menacingly.
"Not likely. Drop the detonator. Hands up. Step away from the containers slowly."
You oblige, and see Alec do the same. You both inch away from the containers of neurotoxin that you were about to detonate.
"No funny business. You know how we deal with spies in Russia?"
Oroumov shot Alec in the chest. He fell to the ground, clutching the wound.
"ALEC!" you shout, as you jump behind the containers of gas, quick as a flash.
A pause.
"If you don't come out from behind there, I will send my soldiers after you."
Another pause.
You grab a cart of smaller gas containers and wheel it slowly in front of you, ducking behind it so as to not expose any vital parts of your body.
A shot rings out and glances off of the metal cart.
"YOU FOOL! YOU'LL KILL US ALL!" screamed Oroumov at the incompetent soldier.
"Sorry, sir, I-" *BANG!* The soldier dropped dead to the ground, mid-sentence, Oroumov having turned his weapon on his ally.
"Very clever. Keep your weapons on him."
You roll the cart slowly, carefully, meticulously to the exit. The tension would kill you if the bullets didn't. Finally, you make your way to the door and roll out.
...

GoldenEye Mafia
-
GoldenEye Mafia is a Normal game for 16 players. The core mechanics of the game are as with any standard Mafia game; however, there are a few small differences:
* Some abilities come from a result of items you hold. If you no longer hold the item granting you an ability, it should go without saying that you also no longer have that ability.
* Instead of using an ability at Night, you may pass your item to another player. Note: Some item abilities activate by being passed to other players. This is called a Passing Ability.
* Instead of using an ability at Night, you may expend 1 Ammo Clip to reload a limited-use item that you are holding...even if it doesn't make sense for you to be able to do so. (Example: If you have a 2-Shot Ice Cream Cone in your inventory, and you use it on Nights 1 and 2, if you pick up an Ammo Clip before Night 3, you may use your Ammo Clip to reload your Ice Cream Cone back to full capacity - that being 2 shots.) You may not use an Ammo Clip on the same Night you pass an item. Ammo Clips do not count towards the number of items a player is holding, though they are detectable by other means. You may not pass an Ammo Clip to another player.
* Because of the two rules immediately prior to this, just to be completely and perfectly clear, that means actions can consist of one of three things:
1. Performing an ability
2. Passing an item (note again that this can cause an ability to activate, which overrides the previous rule)
3. Expending an ammo clip to reload a limited-use item

RVS, how quaint.
So the voting standard seems to be to just bold it, I can do that! Vote: Prophylaxis
Because my cutiepie doesn't need to help me play this game, I'm a real boy already.
My secondary red read is on the boy that has quotes about himself in his signature. I could include his name but maybe there are more of those, and I am nothing if not inclusive.
Why are you curious enough to open spoilers and read sigs, but not the OP?
I'm just going to start out with a flavor claim because I'm James ******* Bond and that's awesome.
vote: gentleman johnny for getting serious
Well.........*****.
Unvote.
As if we could leave the defense of Mother R, eh, I mean the Great British Nation to those Yankees (In America)!
I am a most loyal subject to both the Crown and God, dear Sir.
You bastard, that's MY SCHTICK, in pretty much every game I play (accept mafia). Get back in line, peasant.

GJ: What's your reasoning for the read on Hardwood?
Don't worry Proph. Just a bit of a lover's quarrel.
But, if you must know, his intro post came off way too politely. Almost kind of like yours...

Interesting choice of words here, lol. "Almost kind of like". That's three different descriptions of how somewhat similar to Hardwood's intro post. Is it just not similar enough, but you want to still be able to cast suspicion as you very directly are?

I have been finding that scum typically come off more politely than town some of the time, myself included. I wanted to poke the bear a little bit, and see what happened
I agree with this statement; his play is genuine, remarkably similar to Ace Attorney where he flipped town, and his response to my interpretation of his post was natural and didn't show any paranoia or anything, also didn't attack me in response.
I agree that Hardwood is posting a lot (and trying entirely too hard), but unsure as to what that means in terms of his alignment. I know I've done exactly what he is doing, right now, in the past.
I kind of want him to actually post something of substance, though.
Mindreaver's posts are confusing me. I think he should try to figure out stuff in the thread rather than comprehend a nonsensical poem.

I know you haven't played with me in a loooooong time (if we played when my username was Burstinatrix/Nakamura, I actually can't remember), but I tend to post in this way regardless of alignment, more specifically as town but that's not verifiable in any games yet.
I like to think of the logic and motivation behind a post, like why did the person post this, what were their intentions, etc. When I read GJ's reply to me, he instantly read how he did in Ace Attorney, and also as someone who isn't really bothered by someone suggesting that what they're doing is scummy. I like that and think it makes someone town, and I don't see how it's better than just saying I think he's town. I feel like this comes up a lot with my play though lol and clearly is something I need to adjust.

It's not nonsense. Bet Exclaimations Would Suck. It was a message. Although not what I thought it was. I was hoping it was something coded, since this is a spy based mafia. "Give me the three digit code" seems like it'd just get you killed in this world.

Weird.
I would think James Bond would be very powerful in a 007 game.
Why would he want to blurt it out in essentially post one?
Seems fake to me. Would town want to do that? I could see doing that if I was vanilla because I'd love to eat a night kill, in other cases seems like a terrible move. Trying too hard.

Yeah, I played with you as Burst; I remember being devastated when you got banned.
I agree with you on this, but here were my cardinal concerns when reading your posts:
1. Your #34 on Gentleman Johnny felt pretty accusatory, and the post felt like it should have had a vote tacked onto it at the end, but didn't. It felt to me as though you were afraid to commit your vote to someone.
2. Your explanation of why Gentleman Johnny was town was fine, but it felt needlessly over-explanatory, especially for something early in the game.
I'm fine with your reasoning with townreading GJ, but your posts just feel crafted.

1. It was definitely accusatory, but in the sense that I was applying pressure and seeking clarification of an unusually worded sentence. Also, I feel that why vote so soon when there's one thing he said only? I always make sure to at least hear someone's response before I vote for them, just in case they clarify or respond in a way that makes me see no reason to push further; there's no point rushing in to vote someone off of one post before giving them a chance to speak.
2. I'm pretty vocally against reads without reasons as I feel that it allows scum to casually buddy/cast suspicion without legitimate reason. It also helps me when I reference my own posts to see why I was thinking what I was thinking.
I definitely see how they appear crafted though, because they seem almost rigid? If that's the right word. I try to post things that are logically sound and with evidence and I feel like overall it's helped me improve my reads, but you aren't the first person to say it looks crafted so I see where you're coming from.
I'm terrible at keeping track of activity. If you guys want prods, please request them of me no more frequently than 72 hours since a player has last posted in the game.

Ghosting seems to be over analyzing a very small amount of information that probably won't be relevant for too long but then again he doesn't seem to be wrong on GJ. (Although ACE ATTORNEY ISN'T OVER YET GHOSTING YOU PLONK!)
Oh good. My first solid townread.
That is not how someone in their first scumgame interacts with anyone, scumbuddy or not.

I have a hard time articulating it into words, but in Ghosting's #43 the "didn't show any paranoia or anything, also didn't attack me in response" feels tacked on. That's kind of what I meant by crafted.

This is probably going to degenerate into "I play differently than you do" but there's no reason not to use your vote early in the game. A vote is a townie's only weapon, and they should use it aggressively and without fear. Obviously you think differently of course, but that's not going to help me discern your alignment.

Same here, though to a bit lesser extent than you. Though this is also theory stuff that doesn't help.
Why did you feel the need to add all the extra reasoning as to why GJ was town?

Quote from Matowar »
@Proph: I don't really get how to read RVSs yet Frown I figured they were just a sort of jokey way to get and conversation and thus the game going. Hardwood reads like a old player happy to be back and playing a game for the first time in a while, Ghosting seems to be over analyzing a very small amount of information that probably won't be relevant for too long but then again he doesn't seem to be wrong on GJ. (Although ACE ATTORNEY ISN'T OVER YET GHOSTING YOU PLONK!) He may just be trying to look like he's contributing a lot without actually giving much input but I think I'll wait till a bit later on before I consider him for the Possibly Scum category, he's acted like this before. I don't like Bloscovi's start, it's too aggressive and blunt, I have immediate WIFOM as to whether that's a scum move or not. You get nothing from me until later Proph Grin I'm biased towards you since you were so good as town in Prisoner's. I'll wait for some reads outside of RVS from you, ask me again then.
You do realize I would have single-handedly lost the game for you guys in Prisoner's Dilemma had Hunt NK'd tom? I probably played the worst in that game.
What's the scum-motivation for Bloscovi to play aggressively? Why do you think Ghosting could be Possibly Scum, as opposed to Possibly Town?
not_a_gimmick feels town. He's trying to solve the game.
You claim to be against reads without reasoning, and yet you parroted my town read of GJ, without trying to figure out why I thought he was town, or determine my alignment. Reconcile this.
Putting myself in Matowar's shoes, Matowar here is mostly reporting observations about the game at large. What's interesting here is that while Matowar is kind of indecisive about most of his reads, "doesn't seem to be wrong on GJ" implies that Matowar has a townread on GJ. This can indicate that Matowar is just agreeing with Ghosting with respect to GJ, or Matowar knows GJ's alignment.
I'm inclined to think it's the former, though? I don't think Ghosting/Matowar are buddies with how Matowar just carelessly agreed with one of Ghosting's reads, and so if Ghosting flips scum here, I think Matowar is town. So yeah, unaligned pairs and stuff.
Did I miss anything/what's your view? I didn't even notice that phrase when I read through Matowar's post, so I'm interested as to why it grabbed your attention.

Vote: Bloscovi
Vote Proph. Because it always feels better without Prophylaxis
Post count is way too OP for this game.
Serious vote is serious.

vote: gentleman johnny for getting serious
I've read his posts a couple of times and can't figure out your train of thought.

I'm returning after a long hiatus and was just wondering if gimmicks are still a frequent occurrence? Don't know who is actually new.
vote Seppel for hanging a blind girl for over half a decade
Die.
Well.........*****.
Unvote.
You bastard, that's MY SCHTICK, in pretty much every game I play (accept mafia). Get back in line, peasant.
Don't worry Proph. Just a bit of a lover's quarrel.
But, if you must know, his intro post came off way too politely. Almost kind of like yours...
The GJ way path to no lynching:
Interesting choice of words here, lol. "Almost kind of like". That's three different descriptions of how somewhat similar to Hardwood's intro post. Is it just not similar enough, but you want to still be able to cast suspicion as you very directly are?
Mafia Stats 2016-2017:
Town: 1-0 | Scum: 2-0 | Neutral: 1-1
I can't figure out #3, which is driving me mad
I have been finding that scum typically come off more politely than town some of the time, myself included. I wanted to poke the bear a little bit, and see what happened
The GJ way path to no lynching:
oh, and
unvote, vote hardwood_paneling not for good manners, but for trying way too hard to appear townie.
I agree with this statement; his play is genuine, remarkably similar to Ace Attorney where he flipped town, and his response to my interpretation of his post was natural and didn't show any paranoia or anything, also didn't attack me in response.

Where in my RVS post did I come out as "way too polite"?
*keels over in shock, thumps onto the floor*
Vote: Ghosting.
Yeah, I was thinking about that too.
Unvote ; vote: Ghosting
His posts read as remarkably stilted.

Town: 1-0 | Scum: 2-0 | Neutral: 1-1
It's not nonsense. Bet Exclaimations Would Suck. It was a message. Although not what I thought it was. I was hoping it was something coded, since this is a spy based mafia. "Give me the three digit code" seems like it'd just get you killed in this world.
of course now,
Unvote, Vote Hardwood
Cause you wasted my time
UNVOTE; VOTE:Hardwood
Word.
That's stupid.

Ding.
He knows GJ is town.
@Matowar: What are your thoughts on Hardwood's posting so far, and the votes on Ghosting (as well as him, himself?)
Votes must first be Unvoted for them to count. Both Votes and Unvotes must be bolded for them to count.
Items will be passed before the Nightkill occurs.
Items will not be revealed on flip.
Please do not reference on-going games.
I'll give you a votecount sometime within the next 24 hours.

I can't seem to find the smiley for fishing (which I thought they had at one point)
Care to elaborate on the "just feel crafted" portions of any post. I'm having a hard time feeling up on my computer.
@ModSo: What is the timer for when prods can be given? Thanks.

Also,
This is probably going to degenerate into "I play differently than you do" but there's no reason not to use your vote early in the game.
----
You do realize I would have single-handedly lost the game for you guys in Prisoner's Dilemma had Hunt NK'd tom? I probably played the worst in that game.
What's the scum-motivation for Bloscovi to play aggressively? Why do you think Ghosting could be Possibly Scum, as opposed to Possibly Town?
not_a_gimmick feels town. He's trying to solve the game.
Matowar.
'he doesn't seem to be wrong on GJ'
Talk to me about that, and the mindset you think it comes from.
@Ghosting
