DEADLINE RULES:
In the event of a deadline, a plurality will result in a lynch (meaning if more people are not voting then voting any particular player, the day will end in a no-lynch).
Powers of the Seat:
As long as the Amyrlin Seat is empty, the day will enter a voting phase to elect a new Amyrlin. Any deadlines will be frozen until a new player is raised to the Amyrlin Seat. For this first day, the voting period will last one week. Every other phase will last 96 hours (4 days) or until a majority is reached. Votes can be changed, but be wary as the votes themselves will be done through private message. You may discuss the voting in the thread but only votes sent through private message will be counted towards that player's actual vote count. The player elected the Amyrlin will have the following abilities:
1). Double Vote
2). Untargetable at Night
3). Lynch immune (as long as there is at least 6 players still alive.)
4). A public shot of Vanillifier (removes the power, and any abilities from the target). This is a one time use ability, regardless of the total number of Amyrlins.
During the night, a player may choose to to depose the Amyrlin. If the minimum number of players to depose is reached, that Amyrlin will be immediately killed and revealed as if she died during the night, and the start of the day will immediately begin with a new voting phase. If you say nothing, the assumption will be that you are voting against deposition. Votes of this nature are done through private message.
Welcome to Tar Valon. Home of the White Tower, and the location of the most powerful people in the world.
There are many reasons you all have come to the tower. For some, it was merely about time for you to check in anyway. For others, a message was sent to return to the tower with all haste. What was strange about the letter was that all Warders were to stay out of the City. What kind of madness could be going on that a sister could not bring the person she has bonded with the most? Still, such a curious request much be met, as the will of the Amyrlin is law.
As you approach the City, you are astonished by what you see. The streets are bare. The marble roads that often had children playing, men and women working were no where to be seen. It feels as if the taverns and stores have not been touched in quite a while. What could possibly have occured that would cause the abandonment of Tar Valon in such a short period of time? As you reach the White Tower, you see the faces of the guards that escort you in. While there faces look more hostile than you believe an Aes Sedai deserves, you walk briskly past them towards the Hall. As you enter the doors, you found a group of 11 other sisters. One comes up to you and greets you at the door. As you walk and talk about the things that have occurred in the past months, you inquire what was the need for such an abrupt return to the tower. As you ask, the sister with her serene faces merely posts to the alter at the other side of the room. You notice that draped in cloth, you see the body of the former Amyrlin, eyes closed. The Amyrlin Seat has died, and by no mere accident. Several of the Yellow Ajah who were master healers compared to the rest of the sisters determined that the Amyrlin did not die of disease or anything natural. The One Power was the tool to her demise. The Chosen have been released from the Bore, as no other sister alive could make use of the weaves used to kill the Seat. Such a bold attack can only mean one thing: The Goal of the Forsaken is to bring down the White Tower itself. After pondering the events that have taken place before you, you come to a conclusion: In order to properly lead the Tower into the last battle, you will need to elect a new leader to replace the fallen Amyrlin. With the other sisters in the Tower, it is up to you to elect the a strong new leader, and make sure that you keep the forces of the Dark One out of power.
A new Amyrlin Seat must be raised! You have one week to raise the new Amyrlin Seat and start the game! Welcome to Day 1!
First question: What do you think our strategy should be for Amyrlin Seat election, focusing in particular on this first election?
Second question: If you were scum, what would your strategy be for Amyrlin Seat election?
My answer to #1: We should select the strongest townread that has a good reputation for analysis, and who is reasonably active. This might be tricky with just a week, but it's possible. Plan B is to elect the scummiest if a clear scumread emerges, and use the election as a vig-shot by mass-voting for "overthrow" this Night.
My answer to #2: I would try to use the scum voting bloc to get a weakly townread townie elected first, then cast enough suspicion on them to get them voted out (and thus an extra NK). After that I would want to install scum. Installing scum too early would be dangerous because there's a good chance at least one "overthrow" will happen, and I'd want to give it more time to figure out which of my scumbuddies is most likely to skate.
In regards to KA's questions. I agree the seat should go to whomever is the most towny. But trying to figure that out in just a week may be difficult to have a consensus on unless everyone is super active.
I am under the assumption that voting in the normal manner does jack squat right this second until we elect a chair. Is everyone else under this same understanding?
@KA
#1:
I do not think electing the best analyst is a smart play, not to mention we are lacking the normal names in this game, so I don't think there is as much competition. That could be what you were aiming for though. Pour me some wine, please...
I like the idea of using it as a vig shot, however, it puts us in a position of hitting a townie with a much higher probability.
Right now I would like to just hear from each person as to why they think they DESERVE the seat. What is the plan for utilizing the abilities to the greatest effect?
#2:
I'd get either a noob elected and let them do nothing with the role useful, or I would try to get one of the more selfish players elected, such as Generic, Kpaca, or myself, as we tend to do whatever the **** we want without always thinking things through. At least that's my assessment of it.
@Aquamisa
Why would you vote plowshares? Why vote at all?
@Tordeck
Why vote at all? Why pick Kpaca?
@Kami: A) I'd try to elect someone really townie and useful.
B) I'd either try to get someone from my team elected to the seat. Preferably someone with a realistic chance of making it.

@Aquamisa
Why would you vote plowshares? Why vote at all?
Because peer pressure and RNG. Really, should we be thinking about who to lynch now? We need someone up on that seat and preferably not a mafia/old one.
I think electing a good analyst is the best way to go. That way they have a Double Vote and can't be NK'd. To that end, I NEVER want the Seat. I'm a terrible analyst with a track record for poor reads and even worse power usage.
If I were scum, I would try to get my buddies elected. The powers seem absurdly good.
Hi all! I'm not going to vote right now since it's pretty much useless.
To KA: 1) We should probably raise our scumtells early so it can act as a secondary lynch in the early game, and vote useful people when we get to the late game.
2) The correct play from scum would be to try to raise the scummiest town the can see and try to use that as a secondary nightkill.

Am I really the only person who is rather suspicious of kami's questions?
Seriously?
His questions work on an assumption scum have a day chat right now to coordinate anything at all.
But you know what a good scum player would do to coordinate his team if they DIDNT have day chat?
They would ask a theoretical question on how each member would vote if they were scum... So that all the scum team known to eachother get a feel for how they should vote...
Because GJ isn't likely to hand scum an early advantage of a coordinated day one vote. So kami is bow my number one suspect and I would rather eat my own sick than see him sit in that chair.
Have you ever seen a game where scum didn't have at least a few days to coordinate pre-game?
I'm not sure what I think about the fairness. Town can coordinate during thhe day in thread, so I'm guessing it is not unplausible for scum to be able to coordinate during daytime too.
I don't get why you think Kami's questions are that suspicious. We do need to coordinate on how to use the Seat.
Interesting. Generic is the only one to directly engage with me as such (rather than the questions). Generic, you're saying there's only one obvious use of the Seat - but there's another strong proposal that's been made: use the Seat as a second lynch. What do you think of that plan?
@Generic: Your explanation is that Kami's questions only makes sense if scum has daychat, which isn't true: we do need to coordinate our use of the seat. I pointed that out and you ignored it.
And Kami is right: the best use of the seat early game is putting possible scum on it and get rid of them at Night. As a coordinated effort. The fact that you haven't thought about that strategy makes me very, very wary of you.
To answer your question about trusting Kami blindly: I don't. But I do believe coordinating the amirlyn role must be our first focus.
I find it interesting not about you, but about the rest of the game. Usually people who theorycraft off the bat - like I did - get quick suspicion. I'm wondering why no one besides you mentioned that. Or the fact that I completely ignored RVS.
Why are you calling "very, very wary" soft suspecting? lol.
And yes, the seat is for town advantage indeed: it gives us 2 lynches vs 1 nightkill until it becomes too dangerous to hand scum a double vote. You're a great strategist. Surely you must see the hugeness of that?
@Kami: most of the game hasn't even posted yet. Why are you so quick with that conclusion?
Generic: Little of column A, little of column B. Obviously all questions at this point are a reaction test. But I am genuinely interested in the answers also.
Rhand: Good point. Amend my statement to "rest of the game that posted so far." That said, it's also worth noting that we're now 2/7 days into our deadline for the first election. I'm more suspicious than usual of lurkers/late-starters at this point. Getting early input is really important in this scenario, which is why I've been trying to be more active than usual.
If got their hands on that seat, they could still waste the vanillizer-shot before they got ejected from that seat.
Also, by using the seat as additional lynch D1 would more likely benefit scum team more than town, since there less information, interactions and more confusion going on than later days, so scum could easier manipulate the town and gain two mislynches before town gets any information from the NK.

I'm agreeing with Generic on his thoughts about Kami's questions.
Three players dying on Day/Night 1 would not be beneficial to the Town.
12 - 3 = 9 - 3 = 6
Math shows us that by the End of Night 2 that the Mafia could win if the Town is wrong with all their choices. Using the seat as a second lynch is not an option.
I've got no words for this. Can you people really not see that two lynches vs one NK is better than 1 lynch vs 1 NK?
And if the guy vanilla's someone he proved he's scum. What's the big deal there? Seriously...
Rhand, why do you want give mafia a vanillifier shot AND lynch additional person with really little information available, instead of giving the seat to towniest member alive, who would be protected from the kills AND would get a double-vote?

The vanilla shot is really not that important. And if they fire it without consent, we found scum that we can get rid of without wasting a lynch. Perfect.
We might not have a lot of info yet to confidently put scum in the seat, but same goes for "the towniest member alive". who would that be then?
Void's math is just that: math. If we don't manage to find scum in 4 voted deaths, then scum deserves to win.
If we don't use the seat this way, then we only get 3 if you do the same math with same assumptions of scumteam size.
And I do want to put sure town in the seat when the game nears the end.
Have you ever seen a game where scum didn't have at least a few days to coordinate pre-game?
Now Ive been gone a few years but unless things did a total 180 since I left, it is far from common for Scum to have Daychat or any other form of communication prior to N1.
Huh what? Have you ever even played Mafia before. The whole premise of the game is a large group of individuals with little to no knowledge hunting down a small group with a good amount of knowledge. Allowing that little group the ability to daychat there way out of things only unbalances the game. And again unless things have gone completely bonkers in the last two years, I cannot see Frosty modding an unbalanced game.
Holy back peddle batman!!! You just spent several of your last posts trying to explain why scum having daychat is a thing to suddenly be like" nope not possible". Me thinks the mod scolded you for talking to your buddies when you werent supposed to.
Unvote, Vote Rhand
Yes I know the seat needs to be filled first but while we are working on that we can still scum hunt and put pressure where it needs to go.
@Generic - The more KA posts the more I feel you may be on to something, But Rhand's slip is a lot better an option to work on then what could have been a bad gambit by a newer player to attempt to draw noob scum out.
@Tordeck: Now that I think about it, yeah, what I did was just bad. With no info, all I could do was take a guess
Still, I agree with generic that we can use the seat to elect someone we want dead along side any potential linches. Only problem is that we must be sure they are indeed scum, or else towns chances will be shot.

@Rhand: How come vanilla-shot is not important? Do you realise how good that thing can be in the hands of scum? And not to mention, your "we deserve to lose if we lynch 4 time incorrectly" is faulty logic. You are forgetting that we are practically lynching two people at once with no chance to reassess in between, which is a really big bane for the town. Also, you are denying town of its weapons against fighting the scum - the Amyrlin seat. That thing can be really powerful if in the hands of a good town.

Mafia remains mainly a behavioral game. The vanilla shot is weak. It doesn't kill your voice or vote.
I get the idea of the reassessing. That's the first thing anyone has said that actually might be a reason to not use the second lynch D1 (and therefor probably never).
The Amyrlin seat is less powerful than you think because the player in the seat is not confirmed. Using it as an extra lynch is using it as a tool. Using it as hopefully town power is putting all your eggs in one basket.
If we're going to try and put town on the seat, I'm picking Bur.
Void: Seriously? Vig is a common town power role for a reason. Getting extra kills is beneficial even if there's a chance of doing it wrong. Thinking of it in terms of Nights is wrong. Think of it in terms of lynch to NK ratio. If we use the Amyrlin Seat as a lynch, with otherwise standard balance, town gets 4 lynches while mafia gets 2 NKs before we can lose. If we don't use it as a lynch, town gets 3 lynches while mafia gets 3 NKs before we can lose.
If we don't lynch at all, we could extend all the way to Night 6 before we can possibly lose, but that's a terrible plan, right?
Generic: kpaca's votes never make sense to me. Tordeck's vote is straight up wrong; he quotes a section of Rhand's post in a way that changes the grammatical meaning. The full sentence is "Your explanation is that Kami's questions only makes sense if scum has daychat, which isn't true: we do need to coordinate our use of the seat." That doesn't parse as "Scum has daychat. That isn't true." That parses as "You said 'Kami's questions only makes sense if scum has daychat'. That assertion isn't true."
In other words, Rhand wasn't asserting that scum don't have daychat, he was saying my questions make sense regardless of whether scum have daychat. This is clearly the intended meaning because of the subsequent clause, "we do need to coordinate our use of the seat", which explains an alternate use of the questions regardless of daychat.
Insufficient data yet to determine if that's a genuine misreading or an intentional misrep.

@Aquamisa
Why would you vote plowshares? Why vote at all?
@Tordeck
Why vote at all? Why pick Kpaca?

B) I'd either try to get someone from my team elected to the seat. Preferably someone with a realistic chance of making it.
Vote aquamisa
Each other player has a capital letter in their name except this one.
Because peer pressure and RNG. Really, should we be thinking about who to lynch now? We need someone up on that seat and preferably not a mafia/old one.
What's wrong with my name? I like my name the way it is. -^-

Serious vote. Trying to be funny in RVS post feels forced.
Kami's questions:
I think we should use the Amyrlin selection as a second lynch early on and go towards electing town later on.
As scum I would try to get weak town elected early on and try to get them deposed. Later on one of the team to use the double vote to win.
If I were scum, I would try to get my buddies elected. The powers seem absurdly good.

To KA: 1) We should probably raise our scumtells early so it can act as a secondary lynch in the early game, and vote useful people when we get to the late game.
2) The correct play from scum would be to try to raise the scummiest town the can see and try to use that as a secondary nightkill.

Rhand: Good point. Amend my statement to "rest of the game that posted so far." That said, it's also worth noting that we're now 2/7 days into our deadline for the first election. I'm more suspicious than usual of lurkers/late-starters at this point. Getting early input is really important in this scenario, which is why I've been trying to be more active than usual.
@Hunt: What made you question those RVS-votes?
I like Generic and his line-of-thought.
Three players dying on Day/Night 1 would not be beneficial to the Town.
12 - 3 = 9 - 3 = 6
Math shows us that by the End of Night 2 that the Mafia could win if the Town is wrong with all their choices. Using the seat as a second lynch is not an option.
And if the guy vanilla's someone he proved he's scum. What's the big deal there? Seriously...
The Family

That thing can be really powerful if in the hands of a good town.
vote rhand
Weird. That phase is usually over before you replace out.
If you're gonna vote me for having a different view than the rest of you, then you'll be voting me in every single game we play together.
@Generic: Thanks, I guess? (And don't worry. While Iso is the walking scumslaughter machine, you are the walking scum Innocent Child in my books.)
