Sorry if this has been covered before, its been awhile since I have played
magic competitively. Would a deck running Global Ruin and Blood Moon main deck mess up a lot of extended decks? Or would this be way too slow? It seems like those two cards would really punish the mana bases of a lot of decks out there. Maybe something with low cost red/white creatures and burn?
If a deck can support them, running either of these on their own is disruptive enough to easily steal games. Usually you want them in the sideboard though because they aren't always effective.
Blood Moon has been a staple sideboard card for many years now, and on occasion it finds it's way into the main. Global Ruin has seen some play as a silver bullet in rock decks against Urzatron-based or similar manabases.
Blood Moon has turned up in a few maindecks, notably in Goblins. It's potentially VERY disruptive to some decks. Most builds of Dredge, for example, play no basic lands at all, and they can't do a whole lot with a pile of Mountains. A lot of the lands that deck used are also rotating out this fall. It remains to be seen how flooded Extended will be with nonbasics after the rotation (remember, Fetchlands stay in for another year, and we're supposed to be getting a whole Graven Cairns cycle in Shadowmoor). If a lot of good decks are still playing a lot of nonbasics, then it's a good call.

I used to write for MTGS, including Cranial Insertion and cube articles. Good on you if you can find those after the upgrade.
