Hey everyone! This is my first real foray into the world of cubemaking with the Peasant Newborder Cube! Me and the rest of my playgroup is really poor and most of us are students, so using primarily new commons and uncommons led us to spend less and create the idea for this cube.
WU: Control/Tempo/Skies
- This has been a harder color combination to build for, as it often has a strategy, but the multicolor cards and the more powerful ones are simply control powerhouses. I'm planning to make it more pointedly skies in the next update in October, though.
- White and blue have quite a bit of powerhouse control spells, so that's what you should focus on. In addition to that, try to add in a healthy amount of fliers in as well.
UB: Hard Control
-It is important to note that it is rather hard to find a good place to put Blue Black in, archetype-wise. It just doesn't have the defining cards that make an archetype. As such, Control is your best option.
-In blue, you get a large host of stalling and counterspells, allowing you time to find one of black's kill spells and payoffs. Your 4-6 drop fliers, Shadows of the Past, and Caustic Tar are your best win cons in the deck. Other than that, have fun saying no.
BR: Aggro
- If you want, there is also another small side strategy to the color combination, which is stealing your opponent's cards and sacrificing them, but it's only a select few cards that might be picked up by other Red or black players.
- You know what aggro is. BR is the closest you get to a RDW in this cube, and it's really fun to do so.
WB: Lifegain
- Lifegain is pretty well supported in the cube, but you have to be careful to draft a lot of lifegain cards and not just payoffs. The best cards in the archetype are ones that do both at the same time, like Lone Rider and Wall of Limbs, but these are hard to come by in the cube, partially on purpose.

Hey. Welcome to the forums. Sorry no one addressed your thread sooner. (I had similar problems early on in my forum career.)
I'm gonna start this in the manner I've learned to do, with questions rather than prescriptions:
How'd this format (i.e. cube) come about?
What's your card acquisition process? Do you actively search out/buy cards or sort of pick up whatever is around/cheap? (That's meant sincerely, not sarcastically.)
Are you really attached to the color hate cards? If not, what prompted their inclusion?
What kind of decks do you favor (in Constructed or Limited)? It's worth addressing, as one's biases tend to inform how they build their format. (I've been super guilty of this.)
How do you feel about vanilla (or french vanilla) bodies? Do you see value in running cards like Blessed Spirits or Dauntless Cathar?
How do you feel about 1-drops? You nobly exclude all mana of Savannah Lions variants, so this is a pretty key question.
Oh, and a bonus question: Why different amounts of cards in each in monocolor sections?
I'll admit that this particular design restriction definitely looks challenging, just from the outside. But I think you can still probably make this format significantly more interesting by approaching it from a different angle.
