I have been playing MTG on and off since 1996. The last 2 years I've mostly been playing EDH but also some standard.
I did my first cubedraft 3 years ago and didn't think much of it then. When wizards introduced the MTGO Cube I was somewhat interested but not enough to try it out for myself.
Then LSV and Co started posting all of these cube videos and I suddenly had to try it. I knew immedietly that I had to make my own cube and after going through alot of cube lists from here I built one.
I tried to build it with archtypes in mind.
I really like it as is, but there is always room for improvement. I still need a few cards (like Rishadan Port and Mana Drain) but will get there soon enough.
White Creatures :
I want to help the aggro a bit in my cube. As is, mono red is kinda the only way to go since white aggro isn't deep enough and R/W has awkward manabase.
Well green and black are both horrible aggro colors.
Black is doing very well in my cube as a support/combo/control color.
Green is doing very well as ramp/midrange color.
Red (when drafted) is doing very well as aggro/combo/support for control color.
Blue is doing very well as control/combo/tempo color.
My problem now is white. White isn't deep enough to be aggro on it's own and UW control isn't the best archtype in my cube.
I have done few changes to the cube and will post them soon.
But as is, white is the worst color in my cube.
PS:
Of the 8-10 regulars drafting my cube, only one of them is an aggro player. Red rarely gets drafted.
Well green and black are both horrible aggro colors.
Disagree. Aggro has been playing very well for me in both of these colors. Green aggro would be hard to support at 360, but black aggor should be fine. Green can support aggro pretty nicely if you make the right choices.

White is definitely the second best aggro color and is close to red in how good its aggro cards are. I don't think it needs to be aggor on its own. I don't expect to see mono-colored decks most of the time, so I haven't built my cube expecting each color to carry an archetype by itself.
Of the 8-10 regulars drafting my cube, only one of them is an aggro player. Red rarely gets drafted.
That aggro player should be cleaning up at the drafts then, as long as you are supplying him/her with enough tools. I think yoiu could stand to push aggro a little harder in your cube and at least three colors should have aggro available to them. I'd cut a number of your 5+cc cards and try to find more 1-3cc cards. But, if you guys like a more control vs. conrol metagame feel free to ignore me.

Agree totally. Black aggro gets better in smaller cubes, where the really insane aggro cards just get denser and easier to draft together. Black is my joint favourite aggro colour in my 320 cube, with white. Red is slightly under these for me as its great burn spells get snapped up by every archetype, and its one and two drops are not quite at the same standard as W/B. Green aggro is really decent too, and I think it's particularly necessary at 450 and above where the great W/B/R one drops start to dry up. Black just has the nuts for aggro and I am still left baffled where the 'black aggro is bad' trope even came from - that colour has even got loads of buff in the last two or three sets in particular, and offers disruption, card advantage, discard, kill, and amazing drops throughout the curve. Its only weakness is the inability to deal with enchantments and artifice, so a lot of experienced cubers find W/B and B/G a perfect storm for aggro.

Also agree with this. I've found that aggro vs control is only now finely balanced in my cube that I've got the average CMC well, well below three (currently a shade over 2.6). Black has the lowest overall CMC and blue the highest. Many good aggro cards are also great in control, but the reverse is not true. You need three dedicated aggro colours at 360 for sure, and green/blue provide great support even without dedicated aggro stuff.
IMO, black aggro creatures lack of evasion, just makes it a bad aggro color. The creatures just get outclassed by the other colors creatures way too fast.
I have made some changes to the cube to strengthen aggro a bit.
Here are the changes :
White :
In Eight-and-a-Half-Tails -> Out Academy Rector
In Soltari Trooper -> Out Wall of Reverence
In Cloudgoat Ranger -> Out Mikaeus, the Lunarch
In Ajani, Caller of the Pride -> Cataclysm
In Spectral Procession -> Martial Coup
Blue:
In Merfolk Looter -> Out Willbender
In Phyrexian Metamorph -> Out Future Sight
In Into the Roil -> Out Time Spiral (Will come in again when I up the cube to 450)
Black :
In Snuff Out -> Out Nezumi Graverobber
In Night's Whisper -> Out Unearth
Red :
In Zealous Conscripts -> Out Goblin Welder
In Lightning Mauler -> Out Pyroclasm
In Firebolt -> Faithless Looting
Green :
In Avacyn's Pilgrim -> Scorned Villager
Multi :
In Mirari's Wake -> Out Knight of the Reliquary
Will post how it affects the cube after next draft.
In Eight-and-a-Half-Tails -> Out Academy Rector Seems good. Academy Rector isn't awful, but 8.5 tails is better. Long term though, 8.5 requires an obscene amount of mana to do much, so I feel you should consider removing this as well. (nb: the large amount of mana required to do anything usually makes 8.5 a more mindrange/control card, despite it's cmc)I playd with him last draft and I must agree, it's a midrange creature for sure. I think I still want it in, but Mikaeus might get in again soon.
In Soltari Trooper -> Out Wall of Reverence Fantastic switch in all ways
In Cloudgoat Ranger -> Out Mikaeus, the Lunarch This is where we split. I'd rather have Mikeaus than 8.5 tails? I think a repeatable anthem is obscenely powerful
In Ajani, Caller of the Pride -> Cataclysm Fantastic
In Spectral Procession -> Martial Coup Outstanding
Blue:
In Merfolk Looter -> Out Willbender I'd much rather see looter il-kor in here, since it's a much more aggressive card, and can block the white and black shadow creatures. However, on this particular switch, I prefer willbender, for the ridiculous players it can make,The only reason it's Merfolk Looter is that I don't have Looter Il-Kor I will get me one soon enough though and then switch.
In Phyrexian Metamorph -> Out Future Sight I think this is an upgrade, but a lot of the time, I found that non U players were happy to pay the 2 life to clone a sword or a titan or just a bomb 4 drop, so I'd keep checking that, and perhaps move it to colourless if your experiences match mine.I think you are right on that and will move it to colorless soon.
In Into the Roil -> Out Time Spiral (Will come in again when I up the cube to 450) I'd keep Time Spiral in anyway. In an unpowered cube, it's probably in blues top 3 cards (with upheaval and tinker). I prefer Into the Roil to Careful Study and Frantic Search though.Careful Study and Frantic Search are both Reanimator enablers. I strongly support Reanimator strategy in my cube. Time Spiral will get in again soon.
Black :
In Snuff Out -> Out Nezumi Graverobber
In Night's Whisper -> Out Unearth Here, i'd keep Graverobber and Snuff Out - a 2 power 2 drop with an upside shouldn't be ignored, and snuff out is mad good removal imo. Nights Whisper isn't worth a card to me.Agree and will make that change before next draft.
Red :
In Zealous Conscripts -> Out Goblin Welder Seems good. Watch the curve though.
In Lightning Mauler -> Out Pyroclasm
In Firebolt -> Faithless Looting I'd really, really like you to keep all 4 of these cards. I think they're all superior to Zo-zu, ball lightning, hell's thunder, price of progress, slagstorm, and searing blaze. Here I don't agree with you as much except for Searing Blaze. Ball Lightning and Hell's Thunder are excellent mono red creatures and have done their duty in the cube. Zo-zu is on trial and hasn't so far made a big impact. Searing Blaze I can see go out.
Ideally, I'd also like to see you change up your 3 drops, and get some more 2 mana burn in (a la Searing Spear)Agree.
Green :
In Avacyn's Pilgrim -> Scorned Villager I prefer the pilgrim here
Multi :
In Mirari's Wake -> Out Knight of the Reliquary Outstanding
Will post how it affects the cube after next draft.
Thanks alot for taking the time to go over my cube changes
I plan to up my cube to 450 very soon because I'm getting more than 8 players now who want to draft and I can't support it with a 360 cube.
I will support black aggro in that size and will also try to support storm combo.
As is, the best deck's in my cube so far are Mono Red, Boros and UB/Grixis Control.
Right behind them are Reanimator, UG Ramp and GBx midrange.
White, outside of boros, seems to be the weakest link.
There are still white cards I need that will make white better (like Ravages of War) but mabey with going to 450 I can balance it more.
But still. I feel that you're running some cards which don't affect the reanimation archetype so well, and I think that replacing some of these cards, which I feel are sub-par in your cube, with some more aggressive cards could ADD a new archetype, BX aggro, whilst maintaining black's ability to help midrange, control and command reanimator strategies.
Below, I've highlighted some of the cards I think aren't necessary to where you've said you want your black section to go:
I think if you replaced these cards with the 5 2 power 1 drops, Dark Confidant, Dauthi Horror, and Oona's Prowler, you'd have added an entire archetype to your cube.
What I think you lose are some control cards that I feel are unecessary, since black already has so much removal, and there's only so many finishers / reanimation targets a deck needs. You already have all the disruption which strongly supports black aggro, I just think you need this little last push to make it a truly viable archetype.
I understand what you're saying when you say aggro isn't in trouble, but I'd still like to see some black aggro, since black pairs so powerfulyl with white and red to form aggressive decks.
Also, 2 of the cards I'd like to see added: Dark Confidant is one of the best cards in cube, so it's a shame to not have it, even though it is so expensive. Secondly, Oona's Prowler, in addition to being a fantastic evasive 3 power for 2 (the only of these in the cube), it's also a fantastic discard outlet for your reanimation decks.
Another card I'd like to see in Bone Shredder, which functions fantastically with recursion.
Thanks,
SIC
The only reason I don't have Bone Shredder, Dark Confidant and Oona's Prowler is that I don't have them... yet!
It's on my to-get list, but since I got bitten by the 'pimp' bug, most of my extra $$ has gone in that direction.
There are cards I still need to buy like the three already mentioned and also Ravages of War, Mana Drain and Rishadan Port.
I agree with you on Fleshbag Marauder, Abyssal Persecutor, Visara the Dreadful and Night's Whisper. They will go out as soon as I get my hands ob the cards I need. I am still on the fence about black aggro and probably so because of how few in my group like drafting aggro.
I have decided to up my cube to 450 cards. The main reason is how popular it has become, I'm getting 12-14 people on draft nights and even though going 450 won't solve that, I will at least be able to host 10 people.
I'm going to add a few strategies to the cube, mainly storm, infi-mana, Kiki-Jiki/Splinter Twin and artifact-matters.
Storm is not something you want in your cube. I read an article where a guy forced storm in the MTGO cube (which had/has? a lot of storm support) and he still couldn't get it to work.
Just at a quick glance, you added a lot more expensive creatures and spells compared to cheap creatures. This probably won't bode well for aggro.
I would only run combo cards that can go in normal decks and get value. Reanimate, Time Spiral, Mirai's Wake, Palinchron, Wheel of Fortune, ect. Then every so often a combo deck will kinda just pop up on its own without weakening your cube overall.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I write about cube and run cube drafts on magic online.
Well to be honest it's been kinda useless until now that I added storm to my cube. I'm pretty sure that if I take the storm archtype out, Lotus Bloom will go aswell.

Let's face it, everyone loves storm (well most) and trying to make it work for cube is probably something many cubebuilders go through. I'm still just trying it out and haven't decided yet if it's good/fun enough to warrant a place in the cube.

We (10 of us) have drafted the 450 cube now for few weeks and are extremely happy with the changes made. The balance is still there and the new archtypes are great.
I have now updated the pics and added a pimp pic section for each color.
The archtypes added in this overhaul are :
Artifact matters. I put in both Tezzeret's and better Tinker targets. We'll have to see if this archtype is possible in an unpowered cube.
Combo. I added Heartbeat of Springs, Palinchron, Dream Halls, Cruel Ultimatum and Tendrils of Agony amongst others. I decided to not go full force storm but left enough pieces so that when it comes togeather it's awesome but players will not try to force it.
Kiki-Jiki/Splinter Twin. I added those two plus Pestermite and Deceiver Exarch. There are already plenty of creatures in the cube that interact with Kiki-Jiki/Splinter Twin and it has been a great success so far.
Like I said before I made these changes due to the cube's popularity. We are 10 drafting now and it has been a great success. Drafts have been no worse than 8 mans and people are drafting the archtypes like before.
I think the balance in the cube is good now.
The last three drafts have been won by a white based aggro deck, Wb, Wu and WR.
Players are even complaining now that aggro is too good but I don't agree, they just like to durdle too much and as we all know, aggro punishes durdlers

I have fixed it now. I will add reasoning for each color soon.
I've fixed the typos and will go through the cards you mentioned.
I thought about helping R/W mana by adding Rugged Praire and Battlefield Forge to the cube.
What do people think about that?
Is it enough to help aggro or do I need to change white to be more aggro?

On spoiled card wishlisting and 'should-have-had'-isms:
IMO, black aggro creatures lack of evasion, just makes it a bad aggro color. The creatures just get outclassed by the other colors creatures way too fast.
I have made some changes to the cube to strengthen aggro a bit.
Here are the changes :
White :
In Eight-and-a-Half-Tails -> Out Academy Rector
In Soltari Trooper -> Out Wall of Reverence
In Cloudgoat Ranger -> Out Mikaeus, the Lunarch
In Ajani, Caller of the Pride -> Cataclysm
In Spectral Procession -> Martial Coup
Blue:
In Merfolk Looter -> Out Willbender
In Phyrexian Metamorph -> Out Future Sight
In Into the Roil -> Out Time Spiral (Will come in again when I up the cube to 450)
Black :
In Snuff Out -> Out Nezumi Graverobber
In Night's Whisper -> Out Unearth
Red :
In Zealous Conscripts -> Out Goblin Welder
In Lightning Mauler -> Out Pyroclasm
In Firebolt -> Faithless Looting
Green :
In Avacyn's Pilgrim -> Scorned Villager
Multi :
In Mirari's Wake -> Out Knight of the Reliquary
Will post how it affects the cube after next draft.
Edit :
Also added pics of the cube.

I kinda agree with you, but IMO black aggro isn't supportable in 360 cube. Any size after that though it's ok
I push reanimator pretty hard in my cube and black is also a great support color for either control or midrange strategies.
The last 2 drafts were won by aggro (Boros and mono-red) so I guess there was no need to worry about aggro
I'm going to add a few strategies to the cube, mainly storm, infi-mana, Kiki-Jiki/Splinter Twin and artifact-matters.
These are the cards I plan to add :
1 Wall of Reverence
1 Faith's Fetters
1 Seal of Cleansing

Just at a quick glance, you added a lot more expensive creatures and spells compared to cheap creatures. This probably won't bode well for aggro.

Well to be honest it's been kinda useless until now that I added storm to my cube. I'm pretty sure that if I take the storm archtype out, Lotus Bloom will go aswell.
There aren't really that many storm only cards, of 450 I'd say about only Mind's Desire, Brain Freeze, Tendrils of Agony, Cabal Ritual, Seething Song, Past in Flames and Lion's Eye Diamond.
However it seems that storm is taking cards meant for other archtypes so by having it in I'm inadvertadly weakening other archtypes wich wasn't my intention.
Let's face it, everyone loves storm (well most) and trying to make it work for cube is probably something many cubebuilders go through. I'm still just trying it out and haven't decided yet if it's good/fun enough to warrant a place in the cube.

I will update the pics tomorrow.
We (10 of us) have drafted the 450 cube now for few weeks and are extremely happy with the changes made. The balance is still there and the new archtypes are great.
I will get into more detail tomorrow.
The last three drafts have been won by a white based aggro deck, Wb, Wu and WR.
Players are even complaining now that aggro is too good but I don't agree, they just like to durdle too much and as we all know, aggro punishes durdlers
The only thing I think need fixing is the Artifact theme. I'm going to add Tolarian Academy, Metalworker, Stroke of Genious, Memory Jar and Winter Orb at least.
Any other ideas what to add in? Is any of the 'Metalcraft' cards cubable?
