As a bit of a Vorthos, (inexperienced as I may be) I've been meaning to get my (mostly incomplete) ideas of Magic characters (mostly planeswalkers) from my noggin onto proverbial paper as it were. Until I'm more well-versed in the narrative (own a few, but have read none of the novels) I don't expect to make fanfiction out of any of it, and for the time being, forum-based role-playing isn't what I want. I encourage any feedback, criticism, etc, and anyone to share their own Magic character ideas. Not to be confused with card, set, or block creation.
Mnym, a memory mage merfolk from the Lethe Lake on the plane of Arkhos. While I am unaware of Lethe Lake's exact properties where it might affect an aquatic denizen of the lake (A. is immune B. is affected by the lost memories of others, assuming they literally are pulled into the lake. C. loses his/her own memories at a constant rate, or some combination of the above) but my assumption I go with here is that B applies, and likely so does C to a degree, and upon making a mana bond with River of Tears and thus making contact with a direct flow of memories, he essentially 'breathed' in an influx of memory, causing him to experience such a shock that his spark ignited during the intake of foreign information. This process generally caused him to have conflicting identities to the point of causing a kind of psychosis. Once on other planes, he grew a need to 'play' with the memories of others and take them into himself (Memory Plunder) to methodically sort through his collection of memories, trying to determine which memories MUST be his own. So far confirmed planar activity: Visits Lorwyn and meets other merfolk and adopts certain mind-based spells and abilities (Memory Sluice, Memory Plunder, and Scarscale Ritual) Through Lorwyn and a short time in Shandalar, he learns to value external sources of information, at some times stealing books, scrolls, tomes, and grimoires. He arrives in the Dimir's Aqueduct and steals from the Azorius Senate's library, gaining a spell in the process, Psychic Spiral
Unnamed Minotaur Pteromancer from the plane of Theros. For some time I had thought about the potential of a Therosian demigod character, and this is about where I stopped. At the most, she would be the offspring of a minotaur and Ephara (who had taken the form of a minotaur) but at the LEAST (to avoid that kind of theorizing the possibilities) born from a Therosian minotaur and a or UW Nyxborn Minotaur made by Ephara from her divine power to spite Mogis and his savage minotaurs. She was born an intellectual (and moody) minotaur, with aspirations for proving herself to be something other than a savage minotaur follower of Mogis, likely abandoned by her Therosian minotaur parent for her oddity. The very little counsel she found sent her to learn with the Spirit of the Labyrinth. It is during her 'lessons' with her that the young minotaur's spark ignites, from the current of emotion from the deep realization that she is lost in a labyrinth, more so figuratively than literally, and that there is no place for her. Upon learning to planeswalk and discovering that she'll just have to make change to make room for herself in society, and transcend the limits that have been imposed on her, she learns magic of flight (representing her urge to surpass the judging walls of society) and seeks her proper place in the multiverse.
Unnamed Human either from Innistrad, or visits there after the events of Avacyn Restored. Has the misfortune of being bitten by a werewolf while on Innistrad. Stumbles through the Blind Eternities and arrives on Theros. He learns of the goddess Pharika and her divine curative powers, and seeks her out in hopes of ridding himself of his bestial curse. Pharika instructs him to recover something from that which ails him: in this case either tooth, hair, or blood of the wolf; and return it to her for a solution. (perhaps other ingredients throughout the multiverse) He succeeds and Pharika brings forth a Nyxborn Wolf made from his specifically dark dreams, which he must fight to quell his bestial form. Much to his dismay, doing so does not remove the lycanthropy, but does however gift him with the capability to control himself, and have influence on his transformation. He later reaches Ravnica and eventually becomes an honorary memory of the Selesnya Conclave. Perhaps after his curse, but before his trip to Theros, he visits Lorwyn and strives to come to terms with his new form.
[Debatable]Milov[/Debatable] a ?W? Human Philomancer from either Alara(Bant) or Ravnica, whose primary concern on any given plane is beautiful and interesting women, love, romance, and sex. His Planeswalker spark behaves uniquely in that the power of his spark ignites each time he experiences intense physical release, and envelops him and any person in contact with him during the planeswalking process, taking any of his partners or companions with him when he planeswalks. His charming magic usually falls short of what is needed for confrontation, and a partner/companion/escort/significant other with her own skills/abilities/spells are needed. Eventually either he moves on, or his female escort through the multiverse does, and he finds another. Some lovers may include an Azorius lawmage, an Izzet scientist, Rakdos 'entertainer', Golgari shaman, an Avacynian angel, a werewolf, and others. Lastly, here is a blurb I recently wrote that got my interest in this kind of character's amorous attitude towards women of Ravnica.
"What's my experience with the guilds? I dated a lawmage once, she was pretty, and proper and all, but she was a total control freak. Then there was the Rakdos cultist, she was certainly into some real kinky stuff, a bit much for me though. The Boros Legion's angels are passionate lovers, but when duty calls, you've got feathers and glass scattered about your bedchamber. Took a Syndicate bloodsucker out the night before last. Needless to say, I'm low on funds and sporting one painful hickey. Gruul and Selesnya are rife with au naturel ladies. Go with Gruul: You get a wild and crazy one-on-one. Go with Selesnya, and you get quite a crowd. Only hotties the Swarm has to offer will make you rock-hard. That's not a good thing. Dated a biomancer, she kept talking about how "our offspring will be perfect specimen", Izzet chicks are a blast. Literally. I thought I slept with a member of House Dimir.... Hmm, I can't remember."
3WWU, 2GWW, and 4RWW! These were the mana costs chosen to summon the perfect little angel! But Professor Avacyn accidentally added an extra ingredient to the concoction! Chemical x Thus, the Powerpuff Girls were born! Using their ultra super powers, Gisela, Bruna, and Sigarda have dedicated their lives to fighting crime and the forces of evil!
