Just wondering if anyone is planning to attempt it this year. I am [though my job will likely preclude winning - I also am moving right before it starts x.x].
Anyone? Any previous plans or things you're doing in writing otherwise, too?

my mouth is full of winsome lies -
and eyes are full of death besides
but luckily the soul is wise -
it sees beyond my blindness and
forced failure makes a better guise,
so as i come again alive,
it feels like life's a decent plan
I feel like I'm always planing to do something. I generally make it through the research phase (watching documentaries, reading historical texts, etc) for world building and over-arching elements, but then I drop the project because it can't hold my attention after that.
I'm a lousy excuse for a writer; I'm the dreaded daydreamy bohemian (the lowercase b).
You can get through it though! Can't legitimately call yourself a writer if you don't write ...
I'm at 2000 words right now. Moving is ow. A lot of ground to make up.

i attempted this last year but i did not finish. good luck not 1) subconsciously making your story a stitched up version of various other stories you like (mine inadvertently ended up being something like Heroes meets Back to the Future and 2) not making your main character an exact replica of yourself
ultimately it was an eye opening experience though. i joke a lot about how terrible my half finished novel ended up being, and it was very very terrible. but its a fun, challenging journey.

1: who cares.
2: who cares.
My first novel was godawful. But I finished it, and when I did nano the second time I took my time and wrote a cohesive-ish book with none of those flaws in three months. Only problem: it was pseudo-fanfic and idk how to get it out. But it feels good to be a writer and actually have a book to your name, even though it's unpublished and not in showable condition.

I'm bloody bound and determined this year. 10,000 words in so far.
Awesome! I'm up to 3k today and may try to get a few more k's in myself. Way, way behind. The world is moving too much right now in some ways ... but I'll get there I think.
Already killed off my main character, sort of.
