Yanni's Shimmering Grove

  • #1
This is an area for my PRC Poems. Suggestions are welcome Smile

    Wins: PRC 129, PRC 130, 133
    Quote from Yanni
    As I gripped the glock
One in the chamber, staring at the clock
*click click* felt the barrel slide back
Someone's about to kill this hack
    Slaying snitches like ants
all cause he got into some girl's pants
He says "damn she was nice"
"So Nice I'll murder you twice, once in your physical and once in your spiritual life"

This is possibly the worst thing I've ever seen. I was pretty drunk when I wrote this on a bathroom wall, and decided to enter it.

    Quote from Yanni
    My Month as a Muslim

Time. Ticking away moments that end a fast.
One more hour, why do I have to be the last?

Hunger. Eating away from the inside, testing limits.
    Allowing the strength of will.

Recently I fasted for a Month as part of the Islamic Holiday Ramadan.

    Quote from Yanni
    Untitled
    Won PRC 129
Falling through space, suspended in time.
The crude metal object penetrating flesh.
Diving through a catacomb, leaving no trace.
Laid up in bed for days because of inhibition
And all I've got is this stupid brace
and a car with an automatic transmission.

Entered in the current PRC. This is about getting shot in the leg.
This is the edited "better verison"
Mockingbird was revoked for the poem below it.

    Quote from Yanni
    Mockingbird
    Soaring high in the sky
    What a dream
    Designed to please
But I can never fly free
I can never be on my own
I am trapped in my cage
    Singing every day
    Now I am free
Free of the chains of society
Free of those who oppress me
    Just free.
    Free as a Mockingbird

This is my newest poem. I don't really know where I came up with this, or the inspiration.

    Quote from Yanni

    Won PRC 130
My Night With An Old Friend
    We were together
    As it slowly slipped away
She said it would be forever
She would be gone by the end of the day.
    I always **** up.
I never had the chance to tell her.
It was slow as she drank from the cup.
    The last of her treatment.
A Moon Later I came back.
I hugged her and kissed her cheek.
She was bent over coughing and hacking.
If only there wasn't a leak.
If only I had been there sooner.
I could have told her what I felt as she slept.
She laid back in the bed
    "I love you, Isaac"
    She said.
"Don't say that, it was never meant to be"
"It was, and now we both have to move on."
She reached up and kissed me.
    Falling backward violently.
    She fell asleep.
    I ran to my car.
I drove to everywhere I could.
    A phonecall from her mom
    "Are you okay?"
    "No."
    The vehicle began to skid.
    A tree, a rock, a deer.
Everything flashed in front of me.
All I wish is that her and I could still be.

This is about an ex-girlfriend who had cancer that she developed early during her freshman year of college. She died last night, and I was there. She otld me that she loved me, and after her pulse stopped I ran out to my car and drove off the rode near my home. No injuries, but I'm still shaken up.

    Quote from Yanni
    Where is he?
The bastard in his red shirt
He hides among all the people
He doesn't care who gets hurt
He lives inside a life of tug and pull
His stupid ****ing dog is always alone
    The dog looks the same
And is never given a bone
    His hair is never tame
His girlfriend is always happy to help
Even when she is hiding too
He is always hiding behind kelp
He doesn't care about you or me.
    So where is he?
    Is he in that room?
Does he hide behind a broom?
Is this some joke by the author?
    Where's Waldo?

This poem is about the frustration of finding your way around a new place that ha taken the form of complaining about the game "where's Waldo?"

    Quote from Yanni
    If Only I Had Known
    Won PRC 133
    If only I had known
The conversation him and I had alone
I would have not let him be
    He was never free
    Trapped by his own selfindulgence
"As a kid I only had a few cents"
"I could buy enough for lee and me"
"You kids have all this expensive ****"
"And you, Isaac, only care about getting lit"
That's all I thought of as I drove away
"How was I so led astray?"
"No, he'll be fine" I thought
and he died the next day.
If only I had known how much he cared
If only I had known he was right
If only I had stayed with him that night.
    If only I had known.
    If only.

This is an event I'm still fighting with inside myself. This passage is about my grandfather's alcohol problem and the irony when he yelled at me for smoking weed.

This is an Area for Songs that I've written

    Rushing River
    Calm, sweet, cool body.
    Boat Landing on the end.
    Summer time is always muggy
    The water always mends.

    Rushing River
    Rushing over my head
    Curing my life
    Filling my heart with dread.
Rocks as sharp as a knife.
    My body feels like lead.

    Fast, violent, warm body.
    Paper mill on the end.
Makes me wanna grab the pistol and the shotty
and open a hole around the bend.

    Rushing River
    Dumping into my lungs
    Filling my head with blood
    Bottles being flung
    My body feels dead.

    Frozen, solid, cold body.
    Myself under the ice.
Makes me wish I wasn't so bloody
Finding an airpocket would be nice.

Guitar playing some sort of FmSus7 chord.

    Letting Go
    Dust escapes from my hand.
    I've got nothing left.
No, this was never what I had planned.
    Four Months ago we slept.
We never cared about what they thought.
After all, it was just dinner.
We arrived, getting the latest thing caught.
Some kid splashed a puddle with his new chrome spinners.
    The food was great.
The girl across from me was beautiful
    But it wasn't a date
She reminised about our plans of youthful.
I wish I could be with her again
But I have to let go

We saw a movie about a bane.
She wanted to take things slow.
Her lips as soft as they were years before.
The greatest night of my life
Her body fighting it's own war.
The worst day of my life.
I need to learn how to let go.
She would want me to let go
    I will let go

This is also about my friend who died of cancer. This is about our date four months ago, which was the last day she was out of the hospital before she died.

    The Bus
    Didn't ride it much.
    Brother drove me home.
Then one day I decided to punch
And he never passed the lawn gnome.
    So I rode the bus.
A kid hit me in the face.
The whiny bitch was in quite the mess
He even tripped on his shoe lace.
    His head hit the ground
    "Idiot freshman"
He said he couldn't here a sound.
    I stepped off the bus.
Suspended, all because I didn't help stack the wood.

This is about when my brother wouldn't give me a ride home, and I got in a fight the one day I rode the bus

    Gin
    100 Proof
    Mind hazy
    Sleeping on the roof
    Everything looks like Paisley
    Tripping
    Slipping
    Falling
    Laying down
passed out drunk on the ground.

And finally after 20ish days a new poem
    Parental Corrections
    Losing, bruising, snoozing
    Sleeping in warped anger
    Kicking, cutting, blinding

    Falling, calling, balling
    Fallen and shoved forever
    Sliding, laying, dying

Hey Yanni.....so I read and, you make good poetry

and while i cant take credit for this, I think it is appropriate for you right now.

May you always have work for your hands to do.
May your pockets hold always a coin or two.
May the sun shine bright on your windowpane.
May the rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

Its an Irish Blessing, and I wish thee well
    DNC.

    Vitamin H
United shoes and an untucked shirt
I ring the door bell to a man with a beard
He pulls out a bag with something like dirt
As his burns the spoon, thing smell weird
The needle dips into the concave metal
it sucks out the liquid into it's tube
I feel a sharp pain and scream like a kettle
he gave me no lidocane or lube
My arms go numb from the incoming storm
I feel all happy as I advanced to lay
As it rushes to my head, I start to feel warm
Nothing like some Vitamin H to brighten my day
