Greetings to you all here on MTG Salvation. I am working on a custom set of magic the gathering
cards based on a story that i am personally writing. The setting is a world where science and
magic came to a gory and destructive war, and now the world is recovering from that destruction.
Many of the inhabitants have struggles with inner dualities. As the set progresses, i will be using
the following abilities in conjunction with color combinations.
Set 1: Marketh The Fallen Realm
Set two: Duality of Marketh
Set 3: Return of the Alchemist

Black Green: Unearth, Returning cards from Grave to hand or deck, protection effects (Pro. red,
hexproof), and Brace (New Mechanic). Strong themes of the survival and extinction of the wild
ones. Ghouls, Ghosts, Beasts, and other wild animals as key players.
Brace X: The next time this permanent would be destroyed this turn, it isn't. Instead tap it, remove all damage from it, and remove it from combat. If this creature is not destroyed this turn, put X +1/+1 counters on it.
Green Blue: Overrun and Anthemic Effects, Hybritize (New Mechanic), Evolve/Bolster. The
strengthening of the body and mind lead to fantastic results. Various races, but MultiRace
creatures will be the revolving mechanic
Hybritize - As this creature enters the battle field, you may have it gain Changeling. If you do [insert effect here].
Blue Red: Scry and Fateseal, Copy Effects (Reverberate, Clone), Rewrite, token generation. The
harmonious mind can plan, the discorded only destroys. Viashino, Vedalken, and other
Rewrite X: Reveal this card for its rewrite cost and shuffle it into your library. Look at the top X cards of your library, then put any number of them on the bottom of your library and the rest on top in any order, then Draw 1
Red White: Burn, Life gain, Devour, Nova (New Mechanic). Rage burns away the life as fire
consumes all. Yet, in the flames, life begins again and grows into a powerful thing. Humans,
Goblins, and Some Dragons prevelant.

You have too many mechanics, it should be 5-6 for a large. Small should be 5-7 with only 1-2 mechanics introduced to the block.
Corrupt/Purify need to be either ability words, i.e. labelled in italics then full effect is written out with card name if necessary. Or keywords, with the bonus being a separate effect (it can't be included otherwise). If you choose keywords, I'd recommend not always having the extra. If you do with ability word, I'd recommend not always having the +1/+1 counter bonus.
Brace and Rewrite don't work. It's a rule in design not to have a mechanic that contains another mechanic. You can just have cards (likely less) with that effect but not named.
Hybridize has memory issues: how do you remember what creature types it gained? And it is also clunky (it does weird things to the meta) and linear (not ideal for most mechanics).
Fateseal is game-breaking, in that increase mana-screw/flood and denies key cards. Elements of the game that need to be worked against, not toward.
Nova is too powerful of an effect to develop, it's difficult to balance at common and is not very versatile either.
As a more general note, you seem to have cropped your sentences into narrow columns. Spread it out into normal lines, and add more spacing and highlighting through bold/italic/underline to make it easier to read through.
Corrupt and Purify are ability words like Morbid, raid, or heroic.
How would you suggest Repairing brace? Give it the wording for Regenerate as normal but add the +1/+1 counter shenanigan on top of the base wording?
Would the same work for Rewrite?
Nova has extra cost attached. The cost will be based on the power of the creature and value adjusted based on Warleader's Helix rather than Lightning Helix.
I could change Hybridize to just give the changeling keyword. Would that be functional?
Fate seal will not be prolific. And will cost substantial amounts of mana. For example. The first Card with it will be 1UU for Fate seal 1 and sorcery speed

2) Get rid of it. I don't see the merit in it. It's mostly undevelopable due to power level and doesn't do anything interesting when it works.
3) (rewrite) Same. You already have scry, you don't need this.

5) What do you mean? Do you mean just add the effect of changeling to the mechanic? If so, no, no I don't think that would work. It would make creatures +200 something counters. Not developable or fun in the slightest.
Also, I would recommend fleshing out your design goal and writing it up here. Figure out what is the core of your design and build from their. As well as helping you design,it makes critiquing easier for others as they have a clearer reference.
That is not useful feed back at all. You just said "scrap 3/4 of your ideas and stop" so I am going to proceed without those suggestions. Thank you fle letting me know about the mechanical issues of the abilities though.
How is criticism not useful feedback? You have some bad mechanics, I would be lying if I said that I think it's a good idea to keep them. Also, as I said before, you already have too many, so you pretty much have to get rid of some anyway. Good design is not about want, it's about need. For a design to be good, it has to abandon as much as it can but objective quality.
Some suggestions:
1: Flesh out a proper design goal and write it up. Your design goal should describe the core idea and the core experience that drives the set's design. From a post by user Stairc:
"The design goal is: This is the experience we're trying to create in players.
Mechanics create an experience in players.
Environments are self-contained collections of cards created by those mechanics."
2: Consider how your set develops archetypes, different strategies players can follow. In most cases, each mechanic should have it's own archetype to match. By extension, this means you want a variety of different kinds of mechanics to encourage a diverse environment.
3: Set design is hard. Don't expect things to work well. It takes the real R&D an entire year of work to finish the design of a large set, and that's with a team of half a dozen experienced people. If you can accept that you WILL fail, and you will do it several times, design becomes easier. Know that every mistake brings a lesson.
It is not useful because you posed no corrections. Rewrite is a good mechanic because it is a modified version of cycling just like like bestow is aodified aura card. Nova is a partial effect. Meaning that different cards will cause it to trigger differently. Brace improves regeneration as it bypasses effects like ***, and, while there is some scry, rewrite is the main source of "scry" effects.
The effects will come together more as the set is completed further, and, if they remain problematic, I will revise further.

How would you suggest Repairing brace? Give it the wording for Regenerate as normal but add the +1/+1 counter shenanigan on top of the base wording?
Would the same work for Rewrite?
Nova has extra cost attached. The cost will be based on the power of the creature and value adjusted based on Warleader's Helix rather than Lightning Helix.
I could change Hybridize to just give the changeling keyword. Would that be functional?
Fate seal will not be prolific. And will cost substantial amounts of mana. For example. The first Card with it will be 1UU for Fate seal 1 and sorcery speed
2) Get rid of it. I don't see the merit in it. It's mostly undevelopable due to power level and doesn't do anything interesting when it works.
3) (rewrite) Same. You already have scry, you don't need this.
4) My argument still applies
5) What do you mean? Do you mean just add the effect of changeling to the mechanic? If so, no, no I don't think that would work. It would make creatures +200 something counters. Not developable or fun in the slightest.
Also, I would recommend fleshing out your design goal and writing it up here. Figure out what is the core of your design and build from their. As well as helping you design,it makes critiquing easier for others as they have a clearer reference.

Some suggestions:
1: Flesh out a proper design goal and write it up. Your design goal should describe the core idea and the core experience that drives the set's design. From a post by user Stairc:
"The design goal is: This is the experience we're trying to create in players.
Mechanics create an experience in players.
Environments are self-contained collections of cards created by those mechanics."
2: Consider how your set develops archetypes, different strategies players can follow. In most cases, each mechanic should have it's own archetype to match. By extension, this means you want a variety of different kinds of mechanics to encourage a diverse environment.
3: Set design is hard. Don't expect things to work well. It takes the real R&D an entire year of work to finish the design of a large set, and that's with a team of half a dozen experienced people. If you can accept that you WILL fail, and you will do it several times, design becomes easier. Know that every mistake brings a lesson.
