Overview
Plot
The Human Queendoms call a council of the primary Leyethan leaders (the three Human leaders and the Elven Unxia leader attend, though the Riiq and Zhavi Thrulls were invited). At this council, the leader of the Human Wephish Commune is mysteriously killed. The Riiq arrive late to the party and timelock the City of Eythnal-on-the-Last-Hill while things are figured out. The world waits in the balance.
Children of Leyeth is the first set in a "combat matters" block; it will be primarily focused on encouraging combat and creature-based play and secondarily on draft play.
Militant (mechanic on permanents)- Whenever a creature you control attacks, you put a 1/1 [colour] Human Soldier creature token into play tapped and attacking.

Updated with my newest cards and a fair amount of changes. That aside, I'm hitting a "wall" with this set, in that I think I have four major themes where I should have at most two, and maybe one of them as a minor theme. Conspiracy did multiplayer right, and perhaps I should let that lie fallow for a while (especially because, with Dethrone, it combined Multiplayer and Combat, two of my themes). I'd still like a "Winston Draft" set, if that's possible (are the Riiq overpowered even in a limited environment?), but I think "Tribal" and "Combat Focused" should be my primary themes.
I believe I've come across a central roadblock with tribal sets- Many of us "fandesigners" try too hard to differentiate their tribes, and end up making Tribal sets that work like Shards of Alara; where everything has its "thing", which Tribal doesn't need.
I'd love a thought or two on the direction this set (and possibly block) could take? Are "Combat Matters" and "Tribal" compatible? Should I perhaps focus mostly on the "Tribal" in the first set and expand to more heavy "Combat Matters" in the second set? Should I drop Hybrid, and shift most of the focus away from Multicolour?
I reworked my set's layout (and the entire block structure, and basically every mechanic, so now Tribal is only a minor subtheme and Combat is the primary theme in the first set). I'll update the main in a bit, but for now I've got these "preliminary" white and blue Commons.

I believe I've come across a central roadblock with tribal sets- Many of us "fandesigners" try too hard to differentiate their tribes, and end up making Tribal sets that work like Shards of Alara; where everything has its "thing", which Tribal doesn't need.
I'd love a thought or two on the direction this set (and possibly block) could take? Are "Combat Matters" and "Tribal" compatible? Should I perhaps focus mostly on the "Tribal" in the first set and expand to more heavy "Combat Matters" in the second set? Should I drop Hybrid, and shift most of the focus away from Multicolour?
