As a longstanding fan of Duel Decks, I am constantly striving to create my own in order to form some really fun and creative products for me and my friends to test. One of my favorite duel decks was Divine vs Demonic. It was an awesome display of good vs evil, and two powerful tribes. My goal is to recreate the decks, with the same set symbol, thus allowing for a second deck series. It will feature only a few returning cards from the original, and will be fictionally created, designed, and sold at the same price as the original duel decks, 19.99$. In addition to being able to be played like the original duel decks, you can mix this new deck with the original! Duel Decks: Divine vs Demonic contains two ready-to-play 60-card decks that showcase some of the best spells the forces of light and darkness have to offer. The set includes 8 cards that feature new artwork, including two alternate art foil mythic rare cards.
Angels - The Angel deck really wanted to play similarly to before, except use more lifegain to help hold off the demon deck. Angelic Chorus, Seraph of Dawn and a handful of other cards help keep your life high enough to survive multiple assaults from the demon menace, meanwhile creating Angel tokens from Angelic Accord. There are a few cheaper angels in the deck that come out early to help build up an offensive and a defensive as well. Angelic Wall, Tormented Angel, and Emeria Angel all help begin an early game threat.
The deck also has a lot of ways to protect your creatures. Avacyn, Angel of Hope is by far the true champion of angels, as she allows every permanent you control to be indestructible. Deathless Angel has a similar ability, and there are plenty of cards to help keep your creatures alive earlier in the game, such as Angelic Renewal, Defy Death, and Cloudshift.
Demons - The demon deck also plays similar to its last, however it has a little more of an aggressive start. Deadly Ogre's such as Villainous Ogre, Ogre Marauder, and Blood Speaker all help put an early hurt on the Angels. Cards like Reassembling Skeleton help provide repeatable defense, as well as fuel for powerful cards like Victimize and Innocent Blood. You'll want to spend your life wisely, even though it's a strong resource! Ogre's and Demons work best together, so don't always be willing to send your pawns into the fray. You might need them to keep your own Demon's at bay.
Your Demons are powerful. At the lead is Griselbrand, an Innistrad horrific being that can net you huge card advantage or life while stripping it from your opponents. Havoc Demon and Desecration Demon both keep your opponent's creatures dead, and Rune-Scarred Demon and Bloodgift Demon will help you get the cards you need before the Angel deck can react.
The Angels are good at protecting themselves, but the Demons are good at harming them. You have spells like Death Wind and Tribute to Hunger that can sneak around the Angel's defenses. Save them for the right moment, then strike!
Re-assembling skeleton is nice for something to sacrifice, (although the only sacrifice outlets are Victimize and Painwracker Oni), but there are only 5 creatures in the angel deck that it can block (the 5 Kor). Maybe something like Grimclaw Bats or Stinkweed Imp?
It does seem a little weird that the angels deck has more ressurection than the demon deck does. Maybe some graveyard hate for the demons (Withered Wretch?)
Victimize, Cadaver Imp, Death Denied, and Grave Shift all help keep the demons from the graveyard; I thought I gave the deck plenty of recursion. Maybe an inclusion of Malevolent Awakening, Haunted Crossroads, or Endbringer's Revel would help add some more recursion to the Demon's deck? Also, I think I could add a few more flying creatures to the demon's deck as well. Thanks for your input though!
