Does anybody else realize just how much wealth Archester might be sitting on? If I recall correctly Etherium is ridiculously valuable. See where I'm going with this? Our Mana-Alloys we be extremely prized by any passing Planeswalker and will definately put Archester on the Multiverse's Map.

I still don't know about the last name, but Cyrus seems fine to me. Any objections?
EDIT: On the value of mana alloys, i kinda like it. Perhaps one of the walkers is a collector come to add another oddity to his/her collection. Maybe another is there to collect a debt. The prophet traded the valuable mana resources for information to help the plane. Now the one who traded him has come to collect, and isn't too happy about finding him locked away...
It was at that moment that I realized: I'm kinda just making these things up. We can just write the rules the way we want them to work. People will have fun, and people will get it.
Archester translated into french, now that would be cool
If we're reaching a consensus on Cyrus we can move on to some other topics. There are still a few things that need names, but I'll open it up to suggestion for our next topic of discussion.

I would like to flesh out some of the groups' characters. Perhaps just picking one group and each of us choosing a character to define and improve, while of course taking into consideration the flavor of thier group, any references they might have on any cards already in the skeleton and anything in their profile (if they have one) in the OP. Basically expanding what we know (or what we would like to add) about each of the characters might help us define our groups (and cards) better. If we do decide to go with this I'd like to start with :symub:, as it seems to be the group we have the best handle on.

definite renames are in order. I'm fine with using the name "robber baron" as a specific nickname for some one, but i would rather it not be so closely based on, well, an actual robber baron's name.

we could flesh out and rename at the same time. everyone who wants to grabs a character does and renames them (with everyone else having of course, veto power).
Is 3 enough? I see Carnegig, Frod, and Wenroth, maybe a corrupt mayor could be added to the mix.

I think the names and the stories can come at the same time.
Railroad tycoon seems fine though I don't see him as being that big of a character
Carnegig (who we'll hopefully rename) seems to have a big-ish role or is at least mentioned quite often. Beyond that I'm not sure how important the others are.
Also it should be mentioned that most of these characters probably won't have cards associated with them, this is mostly for backstory.

A handsome and friendly boy, Warren was born into a rich family. He was always loved by his superiors, but never seemed to get any appreciation from his servants, who called him 'brat' and 'cruel' when his parents weren't around. Through police work, His family was soon discovered to be breaking numerous laws and was removed from their money, which was seized by the state, leaving them peniless. Upon growing up, he set his sights on 2 pursuits: political power and money, for without one, the other will be unable to last.
His greed and charisma got him motivated and elected to be mayor, and soon he was selling public lands to line his pockets and cutting laws that conserved mana and reduced poverty for money. When reelection time came the first time, he talked to his 'friends', the rich tycoons of the Iron Council, and told them the people didn't support him. They smiled, and promised to take care of it. 3 burned election booths and a few thousand ghost votes later, Warren Love was reelected. He now uses his power to stifle new business and the middle classes, the most dangerous things to his Iron Council supporters.

@ Subbak: I love it. the name needs work, but i think the rest is great.
@ humanity: I never thought about a mayor for the iron city. I really like the concept, especially how his "sob story" seems like something he could use to easily convince people he was on their side. The only thing I'd like to play up a little more is that maybe he could be more of a tool for the iron council. He may think they're his partners, but in reality they're just playing him like a fiddle.

Apparently we can move on... We can always come back to the Iron City and its denizens later. Unless someone has a better idea, I suggest we stay in the East and flesh out the Brass City. It interacts a lot with the Iron City anyways.

Brass City- so, the Brass Council is all powerful? how do they get in? How long is a term?
I think we had originally decided that they were elected positions. Basically a group of Elected officals (Let's say 100, that seems like a good number of people for an elected body.) that makes the laws and runs the government, in five year terms. They're presided over by a Chancellor, who moderates discussions, and can veto/sign laws, the Chancellor is basically the Speaker of the House and the President rolled into one (the Chancellor also has a five year term of office.) The Current Chancellor is [First Name Here] Baylock, a relatively young rising star in Brass City Politics. At the age of 22, he was elected to the Brass council, at the time he was already well known for his careful demenor and honest personality. Over the next four years, he became increasing popular among both the general populace and his colleagues, finally culminating in his election to the Chancellorship at the age 26. He is a strong, charismatic leader that is beloved by the populace (of the eastern cities) and wields considerable political clout despite his relative youth.

Sounds very driven. Charismatic people are often very dependent on the feedback of others, but this man is obviously not a socialite- he became the most powerful man in the city before the age of 30. He should probably a political crusader, maybe trying to cut corruption out of the council. He is supposed to have some white after all, and it would fit into his relationship with the Iron City.
His first name could be Bruce. has a ring to it.

Baylock is definitely against corruption. For the Iron City barons used to buying their way into everything, meeting opposition in the brass council is something relatively new and isn't exactly their favorite thing. It's important to stress the fact that corruption is not all that widespread in the Brass Council. Most politicians on the council are actual honest civil servants that try their best to create the best life for their districts. The Iron City does have some grip here, but for the most part these are honest people really trying to do good. Now as tensions rise across archester, the big wallets of the barons start to look more and more appealing, yet Baylock stays adamantly against their tactics.
