This is a weird little thing that I am having trouble finding support for in the current MTG database, probably because nothing similar has really been done before.
I'm designing a set that brings the keyword Monstrosity back. I wanted a way to make use of monstrosity twice in one game, so that you can get extra +1/+1 counters or "becomes monstrous" triggers. The problem is, I don't really know how one would do this. My prototype is below.
Primal Suppression1G Instant (C)
Target creature that is monstrous isn't monstrous. (This effect lasts indefinitely)
This just seems a little bit confusing to me. Normally you could just say "loses monstrous", but being monstrous is simply a trait, not an ability. The ability itself is an activated ability and is completely unrelated once it resolves. No counters are placed either, so you can't just say "remove all monstrous counters". Is there a more... elegant way to do this? Or is it just really funky and by nature impossible to word well?
Mm. Doesn't work with the set's flavor. I don't think space trolls have figured out how to phase in and out of existence on a whim yet. Of course, there's no way for you to have known this, and your design is definitely something that would have worked.
What if they would somehow lose their counters as a cost to the spell. The big thing with Monstrosity is that they get stronger, not to revert with the same power and then strengthen again. I'm assuming its more about the getting more "becomes Monstrous" triggers out of it.
Or maybe a rewording as
"Target creature that is monstrous is no longer monstrous."
@Silvercut: Out of color (for my set at least), but from a flavor perspective I think you're probably right. Anyway, the "no longer monstrous" was what I was looking for, and I will add in the removing counters bit as well.

Tame U
Sorcery (C)
Remove all +1/+1 counters from target monstrous creature. It is no longer monstrous.
Natural Order 2WU
Sorcery (U)
"Every monster that is monstrous is no longer monstrous. Remove all counters from those creatures."
edit- It appears natural order is already a card. We'll work on the name later.
