I'm looking into the wording for board wipes that care about converted mana cost, and have run into an issue. It seems either R&D is looser on wording than I thought, or there's some facet to these cards I don't see, because MTG uses both "Destroy each creature with converted mana cost 3 or less." (Culling Sun) and "Destroy all creatures with converted mana cost 3 or less." (Austere Command). This discrepancy is small (all vs each, it really is small), but I'm not sure which wording is more formal.
If anyone has any insight on the issue, I'd appreciate it.
There really is no discrepancy; the question of "each" versus "all" is a matter of which reads better. In the case of Austere Command in particular, "all" is used rather than "each" to fit in with the other modes. "Destroy all; destroy all; destroy each; destroy each" doesn't read as well as "destroy all; destroy all; destroy all; destroy all", I'd say.
So in other words, you're pretty much free to use both.
