The whole idea is that when you cast something slightly under-costed that when you do so your're straining your mana base and the lands become temporarily depleted, so they stay tapped for a turn. I wanted to use Exhaust on a land and also spells, both creature and non, but im having trouble with the wording. Let me know what you think.
Exhaust <number> (As you cast this spell, choose <number> land(s) you control that produced mana spent to cast this spell. That land / Those lands doesn't untap during your next untap step.)
The above wording works if you don't want to involve triggered abilities. I don't understand what you want to accomplish with the "whenever you activate this ability", because there's no ability to activate here.
Also, put artist credit on your card renders; it's courteous to the artists.
