You are an inventor. In particular, you are a native Kaladeshi inventor who just had his or her invention stolen bythe Consulate, just like all your colleagues. You know they didn't have the right to do that, your invention belonged and still belongs to you, it's your creation, it's your very own child. You know... no, you feel there has to be something behind that. You're sure of that, you don't need to know. Now there is only one thing you want: to get your creation back. But you can't do this alone, they'd certainly capture you if you did. You need help. You search for weeks until you stumble into a renegade hideplace. You've heard of the renegade movement before, but you never thought about joining them because everything went just fine for you until your invention was seized. But now things are different: on your side you have a quest to accomplish, and on their side they're planning something big and they need to raise their numbers.
You finally found someone who shares your ideals and passion and that's trying to do something serious to get all the inventions back, included yours. Now there is no doubt. The very next thing you do is officially joining them and become a renegade yourself. They greet you with the same words Saheeli used with Rashmi: "Welcome to the renegade movement, my friend. I have much to tell you."
Now the question is: who are you? You also have much to tell them, you have to introduce yourself.
Main challenge: design a creature card that represents you. This will be your avatar through the whole quest to get back your invention, and will influence future rounds. This card cannot have any other card types beside "creature" (no artifact creatures, enchantment creatures, or such) and must have one (and no more) of the following creature types as race: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Vedalken, Aetherborn. The class creature type(s) can be whatever you want.Gremlins have no place among the renegades, but all others are welcome.
Subchallenge 1: the card contains the word "artifact" in its rules text or reminder text. Improvise does NOT count.Your best invention might have been stolen by the Consulate, but your talent has not. You can still create all kinds of devices to help you get back your best one.
Subchallenge 2: the card is not legendary and not mythic. You are an inventor, but not a famous one. You've yet to earn your place in the StatuaryGarden.
You're expected to respect the race/class model for creatures types in the main challenge. You can have only a race with no class though. Having more than one race is NOT allowed. Having more than one class is allowed.
The card can be monocolored or any kind of multicolored. That's your choice. As all choices this round, be careful about what you choose, as you will have to face the consequences of your choices in future rounds.
Fabricate counts for subchallenge 1, as it has the word "artifact" in reminder text. The only keyword that doesn't count for this challenge is improvise (guess why...), any other keyword with the word "artifact" in its reminder text counts.
Subchallenge 2 asks two questions: is the card legendary? Is it mythic? If the answer to either one is yes, the challenge is failed. If the answer to both is no, the challenge is passed.
Feel free to ask any additional questions you might have in the discussion thread.
A friendly reminder I left everyone a few months ago but it's still valid:
A reminder to everyone: In the MCC, putting rarity on cards is mandatory! If you don't put a rarity on your card, expect huge deductions in both Viability AND Quality.
Also, you should format your text cards accordingly to the forum rules (see the "this formatting looks best" spoiler in the linked OP). Again, expect deductions in Quality otherwise.
Design - (X/3) Appeal: Do the different player psychographics (Timmy/Johhny/Spike) have a use for the card? (X/3) Elegance: Is the card easily understandable at a glance? Do all the flavor and mechanics combined as a whole make sense?
Development - (X/3) Viability: How well does the card fit into the color wheel? Does it break or bend the rules of the game? Is it the appropriate rarity? (X/3) Balance: Does the card have a power level appropriate for contemporary constructed/limited environments without breaking them? Does it play well in casual and multiplayer formats? Does it create or fit into a deck/archetype? Does it create an oppressive environment?
Creativity - (X/3) Uniqueness: Has a card like this ever been printed before? Does it use new mechanics, ideas, or design space? Does it combine old ideas in a new way? Overall, does it feel “fresh”? (X/3) Flavor: Does the name seem realistic for a card? Does the flavor text sound professional? Do all the flavor elements synch together to please Vorthos players?
Polish - (X/3) Quality: Points deducted for incorrect spelling, grammar, and templating. (X/2) *Main Challenge: Was the main challenge satisfied? Was it approached in a unique or interesting way? Does the card fit the intent of the challenge? (X/2) Subchallenges: One point awarded per satisfied subchallenge condition.
Total: X/25
*An entry with 0 points here is subject to disqualification.
