The Head Judge of the Inventors’ Fair is none other than the planeswalker Tezzeret! A showdown at the fair’s finale featuring him constructing impossibly quick artifact creatures led to a quick escape, having stolen all of the fair’s inventions. He must be up to something… but what?
This round you’ll be designing a Tezzeret planeswalker card that could fit into the Kaladesh story.

Top 4 Critiques
Final
After some discussion with the CCL organizers, we are making some slight changes to the schedule.
We’ve been historically running into a scheduling problem where there just isn’t enough time to complete a CCL in a month. We’ve also been noticing that the third week has seen low participation, likely as people see they are no longer in the hunt for a Top 4 spot, or assuming it’s only for people who have finished high in the first two rounds. What we are changing is making the third round really matter, by re-instituting the Top 8, to get more people interested in later rounds, and basically shortening up the schedule a bit.
Consider this an experiment, but one that might just stay.
+3 points for each First Place +2 points for each Second Place +1 point for each Third Place
+1 bonus point for posting critiques +1 bonus point for posting a Top 3 ranking
The points received by each player will be added up and calculated as a percentage of the maximum points that player could have obtained, which are given by 3 ×(number of critiques received)+ 2.
The percentages will then be ordered in decreasing order and that will be the standings for the round.
The percentages from the first three rounds will be added up at the end of Round 3 to determine the Top 4 or 8, depending on the number of entrants. 2 bonus points will be awarded to anyone who voted in August’s final poll.
The same system will be used for the final round.
As usual, the final winner will be determined by a public poll.

Planeswalker - Tezzeret

[+2]: Create two 1/1 colorless Thopter artifact creature tokens with flying.

Judging Criteria
I am not a developer, so I am not looking hard at numbers on these. What I am looking at is:
1- Does the card fit Tezzeret's established identity? It should fulfill at least some of the following conditions:
-a- Does it do something with artifacts?
-b- Does it have an X in it somewhere?
-c- Does it do something with 5/5 artifact creatures?
-d- Does it have a U or UB color identity?
2- Does it do something unique, meaning, no other walker does it?
3- Does it have some internal synergy?
4- Does it feel like it's Tezz-on-Kaladesh? This can be met by referencing the story or by referencing KLD mechanical themes.
I don’t expect any single card to hit all these beats perfectly; it’s a demanding set of constraints. Anyway, let’s get on to critiques.
">Legend Tezzeret, Technomancer
This feels pretty far from Tezz’s core mechanical identity. However, the internal synergy is strong and clearly visible, which I find appealing, and Thopters are appropriate for the story and for the Kaladesh mechanical theme set interpreted broadly. I do love the dream of sacrificing your two Thopters for a Wurmcoil Engine and a Batterskull.
Flatline Tezzeret, Crafter of Deceit
This hits a lot of Tezzeret identity points very well. I like the +1 particularly and the Rise of the Dark Realms for artifacts effect is cute and exciting. The artifact-Pod ability feels Phyrexian rather than like Bolas or Esper so that’s a little bit of a bummer, but it’s a super cool ability. I don’t know that it feels like the Tezz from the stories or a Texx card from a Kaladesh environment, though.
void_nothing Tezzeret, Awarder of the Prize
I was a little surprised to see the use of white in this card but I think overall you handled it well, and it’s reasonable for an Esper walker to express white in one or more of his cards even if he is Bolas’ brainslave. Golem is a bit of an odd type choice when Construct is available. The ult is interesting and fits the story but extremely wordy and incremental.
Overall this was a very strong round and tough to judge, so good work all! I salute you.
Legend - All in all, solid, if nothing exciting. These are kind of just the things we expect from Tezzeret but nothing new to the table, here. Having a +2 and a relatively frail starting loyalty is pretty interesting, though. MEGA TINKER ult is fun.
Flatline - I think my big problem here is there's very little black here. Legends also feels not especially black, given that the ability suites are similar, but somehow the target artifact reanimation feels blacker than the mass version. I do like the Birthing Pod-alike ability though.
willows - Not much creativity name-wise here. The +1 ability is crazy here, but I dig the creativity of the ultimate. The relative frailty is also something of a balancing agent.
Legend - This card seems pretty well balanced. The hig cost and low starting loyalty are nicely offset by the powerful +2. I like that the first ability goes well with the ultimate. In all, I'd say that this card is bit slow, but it's printable, and potentially powerful enough to see some Standard play. Also, I like the term Technomancer quite a bit.
void_nothing - I just can't see Tezzeret in white. I know there is white in Esper, but it still seems wrong to me. With that aside, this card doesn't really excite me much. His first two abilities don't really do a lot for me, and the ultimate is really an eyeful. I'm not really a huge fan of the name either.
willows - I feel like this is undercosted by , but maybe it should just enter with one less loyalty? Getting back an artifact a turn for his +1 seems pretty strong. The ultimate seems a little wonky to me, but it's pretty cool nonetheless. The name seems like the most obvious choice for the challenge, although it certainly makes sense.
(22 Total) - October 2014; December 2014; January 2015; April 2015; June 2015; August 2015; September 2015; November 2015; December 2015(T); January 2016; March 2016(T); April 2016; June 2016; October 2016; December 2016(T); February 2017; April 2017; December 2017; November 2018(T); January 2019; April 2019; June 2019

1 Flatline - I've seen several iterations of this design. You've settled on the best of them.
2 void_nothing - An Esper colored, artifact-matters planeswalker rings of Alara rather than Kaladesh. The emblem is wordy but does something which (to my knowledge) is unique.
3 Willows - Seems undercosted. The +1 looks busted. I will say that this Tezzeret feels in line with existing native Kaladash planeswalkers.
