(This month's banner is my own elaboration on the art of the card Inventors' Fair, by Jonas De Ro)
October MCC - "The Card Inventors' Fair"
Round 2 - "Teamwork"
They say the ability to work in a team is important. I agree, provided of course that you're the leader of the team. The real ability is to make others work for you, not with you. That's exactly what I would do with you, if only I wanted. But, of course, I do not want that, I'm just looking for pure cooperation from you, or at least that's what you should believe. In this spirit, for this exhibition round you will have to show me your ability to work in a team. I have arranged for each of you a team of specialized dwarf mechanics, ready to build anything you might invent. Your task is to design a new invention, then go to your team of dwarves and have them fabricate it. Don't build yourself your invention, show me you can have others build it for you. Show me you have the charisma and leadership skills to do so. You won't be able to top mine anyway.
Main challenge: design a card with fabricate. No other Kaladesh block mechanics, so no energy and no Vehicles. Please see clarifications.
Subchallenge 1: The fabricate number is 3 or greater.
Subchallenge 2: The card has an activated ability.
For the main challenge, your card will be automatically DQ'ed if either one of the following is true about it:
• It doesn't have fabricate.
• It involves energy counters in any way.
• It is a Vehicle.
Your card could hypothetically care about Vehicles without being one, such as Depala, Pilot Exemplar or Start Your Engines, but that's best avoided too. You won't be DQ'ed, but you will receive a low score in the Main Challenge section in this case.
None of the challenges, neither the main nor the sub ones, requires your card to be a Dwarf. That's just for the flavor of the round. Of course, this doesn't mean your card can't be a Dwarf. It can be, it's just not mandatory.
For subchallenge 1, "fabricate 1" and "fabricate 2" are forbidden. You can have "fabricate 3+". There is no upper limit, you could even do "fabricate 100" if you want and it would count for this subchallenge. I'm not advising you to do that though.
An hypothetical "fabricate X" does NOT pass this subchallenge. It also wouldn't work in the rules as there is no explicit rule that passes the value of X from the casting cost to the triggered ability, unlike monstrosity, so please just don't do that.
Also, it should be obvious, but please don't do "fabricate 0". It has no sense. It would technically work, but what's the point of choosing between zero counters and zero tokens? You'd get nothing anyway.
The fabricate number must be an actual integer number to pass this subchallenge.
The only real card in the Kaladesh set that would pass this subchallenge is Marionette Master.
For subchallenge 2, remember that an activated ability is one that is written as "COST: EFFECT". Always remember the colon, its presence is exactly what defines an activated ability. If your ability looks like it is activated but does not actually have the colon, not only you should except huge Quality deductions (unless it's a keyword, which should have it anyway in its reminder text), but you also automatically fail this subchallenge, no matter how close to an activated ability it looks. I'm mentioning this explicitly because I've seen all kinds of things in the past, including activated abilities written with commas instead of colons or with nothing at all.
The ability doesn't need to be able to be activated only from the battlefield. It can be activated in any zone to count for this subchallenge. What matters is only the kind of ability: it has to be an activated one.
Keywords that are activated abilities DO count for this subchallenge. Examples include cycling, ninjutsu, transmute, reinforce, unearth, scavenge, outlast.
Pay attention to keyword abilities that have a cost attached but are not activated abilities. These do NOT pass this subchallenge. Examples include kicker, suspend, buyback, flashback, madness, entwine and its variant escalate, splice, dredge, replicate, evoke, prowl, overload, extort, bestow, dash, awaken, surge, emerge, and any morph variant (turning a morph face up is a special action, not an activated ability).
Speaking of morph variants, manifest counts only if it's contained in an activated ability. For example, this counts while thesedo not. This is also true for any keyword action.
Feel free to ask any questions you might have in the discussion thread.
Any project team needs a deadline. Your assigned dwarven team is no exception. They are required to have finished building your invention by...
Design deadline: Saturday, October 15th 23:59 EDT
You can expect me and other Fair Judges to give their verdict within...
Judging deadline: Tuesday, October 18th 23:59 EDT
That's the only thing you can expect me to do for you, and consider yourself lucky, because usually nobody can expect me doing anything for them. I am the one who expects others to do things for him. See this? This is an example of the leadership skills you need to work in a team. And if you're not the leader of the team, well, than it's simple, just don't work in the team. It's not worth it. Now this is teamwork at its finest! Don't waste these valuable lessons I'm giving you for free. Well, as I anticipated last time, there will be the small price of surrendering your inventions, but again, don't think of that for now... Just trust me, Tezzeret, and everything will be fine.
The Consulate also invites you to take note of the following points.
A reminder to everyone:
• In the MCC, putting rarity on cards is mandatory! If you don't put a rarity on your card, expect huge deductions in both Viability AND Quality.
• Also, you should format your text cards accordingly to the forum rules (see the "this formatting looks best" spoiler in the linked OP). Again, expect deductions in Quality otherwise.
On the use of "create" vs. "put onto the battlefield" for tokens: starting this month, you are expected to use only the "create" wording. If you use the old "put onto the battlefield" wording, you will receive Quality deductions. You have been warned! (especially in a round that heavily involves tokens...)
Your invention will be judged according to the following standard criteria, informally known as the "rubric". For your convenience, you can find it right here in the spoiler below.
Design -
(X/3) Appeal: Do the different player psychographics (Timmy/Johhny/Spike) have a use for the card? (X/3) Elegance: Is the card easily understandable at a glance? Do all the flavor and mechanics combined as a whole make sense?
Development - (X/3) Viability: How well does the card fit into the color wheel? Does it break or bend the rules of the game? Is it the appropriate rarity? (X/3) Balance: Does the card have a power level appropriate for contemporary constructed/limited environments without breaking them? Does it play well in casual and multiplayer formats? Does it create or fit into a deck/archetype? Does it create an oppressive environment?
Creativity - (X/3) Uniqueness: Has a card like this ever been printed before? Does it use new mechanics, ideas, or design space? Does it combine old ideas in a new way? Overall, does it feel “fresh”? (X/3) Flavor: Does the name seem realistic for a card? Does the flavor text sound professional? Do all the flavor elements synch together to please Vorthos players?
Polish - (X/3) Quality: Points deducted for incorrect spelling, grammar, and templating. (X/2) *Main Challenge: Was the main challenge satisfied? Was it approached in a unique or interesting way? Does the card fit the intent of the challenge? (X/2) Subchallenges: One point awarded per satisfied subchallenge condition.
Total: X/25
*An entry with 0 points here is subject to disqualification.

I believe you have posted in the wrong section Nirvana. For one, you are not on the list of players eligible for this round of the MCC. Second, your custom card does not even have Fabricate as per the challenge, so it will be unable to be judged outside of the competition (at the Judge's discretion).

I declare the second exhibition round officially closed. The inventor PsyOp did not submit any invention for this round and is thus automatically eliminated. Fair Judges can expect their assignments in a few minutes.
"Your Highness Head Judge, my invention is based on all the times my construction team ran short of building materials and had to scrap parts from some projects to complete the others. If only we lived in a world entirely made of metal... Can you imagine how great would that be?"

It would be absolutely glorious! Not that I know of such a world existing for real of course... unfortunately, you can only imagine it.

3/3
Design - (2/3) Appeal: For this round, there are a lot of cards that appeal to Tammy, as high fabricate numbers tend towards big creatures and/or big effects, both of which Tammy enjoy very much. This card is no different.
This card is too straightforward for Jenny to really do anything particularly special with.
Spike is definitely appealed by cards that are pushed to extremes, such as this legend. (3/3) Elegance: Eloquently elegant.
Development - (1/3) Viability: This card maybe could have existed in W instead of B, but both colors have lifelink, fabricate, and Day of Judgment/Damnation effects, so either color is theoretically fine I suppose.
However, I am surprised that this card is not mythic rare when it truly needs to be to even have a chance at viably existing.
In addition, instant speed board clears that leave your permanents alone are just not something that Wizards of the Coast would ever print as far as I can tell. This is hence a viability issue that breaks this card in my honest opinion. (0/3) Balance: As a result, this card has been pushed to an absolute extreme to the point where it completely breaks in regards to this criterion. Even just a 6/6 creature for 3BB with lifelink is already too strong in my honest opinion as a rare. Adding the versatility of fabricate along with a one-sided board clear at instant speed is simply too much. Such effects have only ever occurred at sorcery speed for at least 9 mana (see Plague Wind, In Garruk's Wake, et cetera).
This card is also absolutely ruinous when it comes to having fun as well. Playing against this card in casual would not be fun at all whatsoever; playing this around a multiplayer table would result in the other people around that table also being equally dissatisfied as a result.
Creativity - (1/3) Uniqueness: As unique as an instant speed one-sided creature clearer that ignores tokens may initially sound (to me at least), my hunch did not stand up to scrutiny. Wrath of God and similar cards with similar effects have been done quite thoroughly by this point in all honesty. (2/3) Flavor: Fortunately, I have prior knowledge that the Aetherborn are a short-lived race that understandably live life to the fullest and riskiest. Other Magic players may not have prior knowledge of this, and this concern that I just mentioned is by no means a small one when it comes to understanding this card’s flavor properly.
Polish - (3/3) Quality: Perfect! (2/2) Main Challenge: Main challenge met! (2/2) Subchallenges: Both subchallenges met!
Total: 16/25
Final thought: The Aetherborn really are a strange bunch, now that I think about it.
Forger of Breathless Army3BB
Creature - Demon Artificer (Mythic)
Flying
Fabricate 3
At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice a creature. If you do, draw a card.
Remove a +1/+1 from a creature you control: you draw a card and you lose 1 life. Bored with the frailty of humanity, he always seek to forge the perfect creations as well as the most beneficial contracts.
3/3
Design - (2/3) Appeal: Timmy likes creatures with either big bodies or big effects such as this one, but he hates sacrificing permanents. Spike does not mind; she would enjoy using a card such as this one, especially since it is already so pushed in terms of its power level. Johnny can build around this card somehow, but it lacks that exciting inventiveness that he craves. (3/3) Elegance: Surprisingly elegant.
Development - (3/3) Viability: This card fits quite fine into black on the color wheel as intended. This card is also a suitable mythic due to its rather pushed power level. (1/3) Balance: This pushed power level ultimately results in this card being much too strong in regards to this criterion. If this card cost an extra B to cast, this card would be far more balanced (although still not perfect in my honest opinion). Simply paying five mana and three life for four additional cards is already far too good. Adding a versatile flying body to that only worsens the issue here. Just as well, demons do not necessarily need to fly (see Dread Cacodemon, et cetera), so removing this card’s flying would have also helped this score as well.
Creativity - (1/3) Uniqueness: Nothing on this card is unique in regards to black. Sacrificing creatures, paying life for card draw, fabricate, so on, so forth. (2/3) Flavor: Alright, I like the name of this card, but I do not like the flavor text. This is partly because the word “seek” should be replaced with “sought” for ease of reading. Just as well, why does this forger dismantle his own army or his own augmentations? That in particular makes little sense for me as a Vorthos.
Polish - (2/3) Quality: The fourth line of rules text has two qualitative errors. Firstly, the word ‘counter’ should be between the terms ‘+1/+1’ and ‘from’ (minus half a point). Secondly, the second instance of the word “you” in the fourth lines of rules text should be capitalized (minus half a point). (2/2) Main Challenge: Main challenge met! (2/2) Subchallenges: Both subchallenges met!
Total: 18/25
Final thought: I cannot help yet wonder at times as to why the more frequently used wording in Magic for this effect in black is “You draw a card and you lose 1 life.” rather than “Pay 1 life: Draw a card.” instead.
Salvaging Gearhulk 5
Artifact Creature — Construct (MR)
Modular 3 (This enters the battlefield with three +1/+1 counters on it. When it dies, you may put its +1/+1 counters on target artifact creature.)
Fabricate 3 (When this creature enters the battlefield, put three +1/+1 counters on it or create three 1/1 colorless Servo artifact creature token.) 2, Sacrifice an artifact: Return target artifact card from your graveyard to your hand. Each part is equally valuable and equally reusable.
0/0
Design - (2.5/3) Appeal: Timmy loves big creatures, and this would count just fine for him in that regard. Spike also likes efficient creatures that are ahead of the mana curve, especially when they are curve toppers. Johnny is less appealed compared to his counterparts, but the artifact recycling is still somewhat appealing. (3/3) Elegance: This card is equally elegant as well!
Development - (3/3) Viability: Every last part of this creation works just fine without any colors. Nothing less than mythic rare will do for such an intimidating curve topper. (2/3) Balance: Since this card is mythic rare, it is going to come up so infrequently in limited that it hardly matters, otherwise the balance score here for this card would be a lot lower. Just like theotherfiveKaladeshigearhulks, this card has been pushed to an extreme. However, this is an acceptable extreme in this particular case. This card is clearly meant to not simply be a 6/6 for five generic mana, but a card specifically meant to make a specific deck shine.
Creativity - (1.5/3) Uniqueness: Putting fabricate and modular together on the same card is admittedly not something that has ever been done before (partly because fabricate is so new, I suppose). (3/3) Flavor: Reduce, reuse, recycle!
Polish - (2/3) Quality: There is an extraneous space at the end of the card name (minus half a point). The last word of the second line of reminder text should be ‘tokens’, not “token” (minus half a point). (2/2) Main Challenge: Main challenge met! (2/2) Subchallenges: Both subchallenges met!
Total: 21/25
Final thoughts: Does modular count as a Kaladeshi mechanic due to Hangarback Walker and kin? I suppose that I shall assume not.
Dreadboot Sunderer4BG
Creature - Human Artificer (M)
Fabricate 4
Deathtouch T, Sacrifice a creature: Destroy target nonland permanent with converted mana cost equal to or less than the sacrificed creature's power. If an artifact creature is sacrificed in this way, you gain life equal to the sacrificed creature's toughness. The sound of his approach is enough to shatter magics - to say nothing of his actual stomp.
2/2
Design - (3/3) Appeal: This is certainly a creature with a big body and effect for Timmy. Spike as well is appealed by a 6/6 worth of power and toughness for a converted mana cost of six with upsides. Johnny already wants to try out putting Groundbreaker and similar cards together along with this card to produce interesting results. Nicely done. (2/3) Elegance: The activated ability’s inelegance comes from its inherent complexity. It is better for the purposes of elegance to track either a card’s power OR its toughness, but not both. Add in additionally having to track converted mana cost and then additional card types, and all of that can be a real headache.
Development - (3/3) Viability: This card works as (B/G) but I am not entirely certain as to whether or not it could have simply been B on the color wheel. Nonetheless, the extra color does allow the card’s power level to be pushed to the point of being mythic. (3/3) Balance: For a mythic dual colored creature that costs six mana, you are allowed to get away with a lot balance-wise. Honestly, this card lacks that exciting mythic quality for me as a Spike myself. I would not go as far to say that this card is underpowered however, not by a long shot.
This card is surprisingly straightforward in regards to this criterion honestly and surprisingly so.
Creativity - (1.5/3) Uniqueness: I would say that the third line of text is relatively unique, even if it is the only unique part of this card at all. (1.5/3) Flavor: A human with the potential to have six power and six toughness? Forgive me, but the choice of subtype on this creature sorely confuses me. The only card that immediately comes to mind with a similar stat line is Surrak Dragonclaw, and he was a legendary khan that cost three colors to cast. The flavor text on this card also does not remind me of a human; I am more reminded of a giant or a gearhulk by the flavor text in question. I apologize, but as a Vorthos, the flavor of this submission is dull and disjointed for me as a whole.
Polish - (2/3) Quality: “Deathtouch” should be the first line of rules text; “Fabricate 4” should the second line of rules text (evergreen keywords come before non-evergreen keywords, minus half a point, see Highspire Artisan, Iron League Steed, Maulfist Squad, Propeller Pioneer, et cetera). I am also certain that the instance of the word “in” is unnecessary in this card’s third line of rules text and should be nixed (minus half a point).
The reminder text for fabricate was missing from this card, yet there was already no room for it within the actual text box of this card anyway. (2/2) Main Challenge: Main challenge met! (2/2) Subchallenges: Both subchallenges met!
Total: 20/25
Final thoughts: Is “Sunderer” even a word...? Half of me wants to say ‘no’, yet the other half of me wants to say ‘sure, why not’.

Incandescent Masterpiece5RW
Artifact Creature - Angel Construct (Mythic Rare)
Flying
Fabricate 3
Creatures with power greater than Incandescent Masterpiece's power can't attack.
Creatures with power less than Incandescent Masterpiece's power can't block. 1R: Target creature gains +1/+0 until end of turn. The magnificience of its design sent most of the jury in a stupor. Or maybe it was all the flashing lights.
2/1
Design (2/3) Appeal - Timmy likes the impact this has on the board but he probably wishes it were a little bit bigger. He likes very much making lesser creatures unable to block and bigger ones unable to attack though. Johnny can use fabricate, but I'm not sure how he could use the rest of the card. Spike wants something really big for seven mana, something that can win the game by itself, and while this can certainly do it, I think he expects a little more. He can appreciate the high impact on the board too though. (1/3) Elegance - Each ability is easy to understand by itself, but put all this together and you get a long and complex card. This looks also complex to follow in gameplay, I expect players to have to check the power of their creatures repeatedly, and this doesn't make for an easy gameplay.
Development (3/3) Viability - There are both white abilities and red abilities here, so no problem with the color pie. This definitely feels mythic to me. (2.5/3) Balance - This is a limited bomb. Hard to say whether this would see play in Standard: it looks very powerful but seven mana is a lot. This can certainly be worth it though. No way this sees play in bigger formats. I see no big problem in casual outside the frustation of seeing this repeatedly, but that's mitigated by this being mythic. This looks very interesting in multiplayer, where it can affect creatures belonging to different players.
Creativity (3/3) Uniqueness - The most original thing here is the type line, and that is very original. I also can't remember any card using "can't attack" and "can't block" in a similar way. Fabricate in red is also new. (1/3) Flavor - Name and flavor text are fine, but I have doubts about an Angel Construct. Aren't Magic Angels beings or pure mana? I don't really see this being compatible with the Construct creature type, which implies this is something that has been built by someone else. I understand it's a big selling point of this card, and it is definitely original, but it doesn't make that much sense to me. I'm sorry. Also, the flavor text barely fits, and MSE makes me see the card looks better without it. If you include the reminder text for fabricate (which is advisable, even though not strictly mandatory in this case), the flavor text does not fit at all.
Polish (2.5/3) Quality - A typo in the flavor text ("magnificience" has an extra "i", -0.5). The reminder text of fabricate can be left out in this case, as it's a mythic and there is no room. (2/2) Main Challenge - Good. (2/2) Subchallenges - Both met.
Titanic Inventor3RRR
Creature - Giant Artificer (R)
Fabricate 5 (When this creature enters the battlefield, put five +1/+1 counters on it or create five 1/1 colorless Servo artifact creature tokens.)
Menace
At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice Titanic Inventor unless you sacrifice an artifact.
Sacrifice an artifact token: Target creature can't block Titanic Inventor until end of turn. "I'm skeptical of his creativity, but I fear for what would happen if we denied his entry."
4/4
Design (3/3) Appeal - Timmy is definitely excited by this: it gives you 9 power anyway, is hard to block and it has huge impact on the board. Johnny can use counters and tokens in a lot of ways, maybe involving this card's activated ability as sacrifice outlet for the fabricate tokens (not for the effect), and there is definitely engine potential there. Spike loves 9 power for six mana, 5 of which can stay on the battlefield if he chooses tokens and then cannot or doesn't want to pay the upkeep cost, which can be relevantly paid with the Servos themselves, and Johnny/Spikes love this interaction. (1/3) Elegance - Each ability is easy to understand by itself, but put all this together and you get a long and complex card.
Development (3/3) Viability - Fabricate is not in red in the Kaladesh set, but I really don't see any big problem with that color-pie-wise. Rarity is the least it can be. I could even see this as a mythic, but it's probably fine at regular rare too. (1/3) Balance - I honestly think the drawback of sacrificing an artifact each turn is enough to have this card at six mana when it can give you a lot of artifacts to sacrifice itself. If you choose Servos, you will be able to keep this around for at least five turns, always attacking with a 4/4 menace and additional creatures, and this makes the drawback look much less relevant. If you choose the counters instead, you get a 9/9 menace which is not that hard to keep around for multiple turns in an artifact environment. It looks a bit too much to me, despite the restrictive mana cost. Of course, playtest might prove me wrong, but unfortunately I don't have that luxury while judging in the MCC (and even if I could, I wouldn't have the time to do it properly and thoroughly right now). Quick format overview: this is an obvious limited bomb and I expect this to see constructed play (not sure whether that's good or not), and the only problem I can see in casual/multiplayer is people getting frustated playing against this repeatedly.
Creativity (3/3) Uniqueness - Fabricate 5 doesn't exist yet for real and feels very splashy and memorable. "Sacrifice an artifact token" feels also very original as a cost. Fabricate in red is new. (2.5/3) Flavor - The name and flavor text are good. The mechanics represent the concept of a giant that throws artifacts at everything and everyone well enough. The flavor text barely fits though, and MSE makes me see the card looks way better without it.
Polish (3/3) Quality - All good. (2/2) Main Challenge - Good. (2/2) Subchallenges - Both met.
Brilliant Craftsman2WWW
Creature - Dwarf Artificer (R)
Fabricate 3 (When this creature enters the battlefield, put three +1/+1 counters on it or create three 1/1 colorless Servo artifact creature tokens.)
Other nontoken creatures you control have Fabricate 1. (If a creature has multiple instances of Fabricate, each triggers separately.) "To work, lads and lasses! Follow my lead!"
1/1
Design (3/3) Appeal - Timmy likes both +1/+1 counters and tokens, so he should like this. Johnny likes fabricate too, he can use both counters and tokens in many different ways. Spike likes the flexibility and skill required to choose the right mode for each board state. Doing this for every creature of his and at a reasonable cost is something he certainly doesn't mind. (3/3) Elegance - Just perfect. Nothing more to say.
Development (3/3) Viability - Fabricate is in Abzan colors in Kaladesh and the mechanics of this card feel very white, so no problems with the color pie. Rarity also feels right, the impact of this card prevents it from being less than rare, but I can't really see this as a mythic, it's neither splashy nor complex enough. (3/3) Balance - Five mana looks right for either a 4/4 that gives upside to all your other creatures or 4 power spread out over four different bodies. This card looks definitely playable in Kaladesh limited, even though the triple colored cost hurts a little as it requires you to be heavy in its color. It could see some Standard play, I can easily see this in a primary white token deck for example. I can't see it in older formats, but that's no big problem. I can't either see any problem in casual or multiplayer.
Creativity (3/3) Uniqueness - No card granting fabricate to other creatures exists in the Kaladesh set, so this is definitely new. (3/3) Flavor - No problem here. The name is good, and the flavor text works well. I'm just not sure we'd see the expression "lads and lasses" on a real Magic card, but it's probably just because I never heard it before despite being half English myself. Having been born and raised in Italy though probably doesn't help with that, but I digress.
Polish (2/3) Quality - Fabricate should not be capitalized in the second ability, both in the rules text and reminder text (2 x -0.5 = -1). (2/2) Main Challenge - Good. (1/2) Subchallenges - This has fabricate 3 but no activated ability. Ignoring the subchallenge has definitely been the right choice for you, congratulations for that. Not everyone would have done it.

For example, this counts while these do not. This is also true for any keyword action.
For additional information, you can check the wiki page about activated abilities.
Your invention will be judged according to the following standard criteria, informally known as the "rubric". For your convenience, you can find it right here in the spoiler below.

• The two public custom sets I've been part a part of the design team for:
"Brotherhood of Ormos" - Blog post with all info - set thread - design skeleton / card list || "Extinctia: Homo Evanuit" - Blog post with all info - set thread - card list spreadsheet
• "The Lion's Lair", my article series about MTG and custom card design in particular. Latest article here. Here is the article index. Rather outdated by now, and based on the old MCC rubric, but I'm leaving this here for anybody that might be interested anyway.
• My only public attempt at being a writer: the story of my Leonin custom planeswalker Jeff Lionheart. (I have a very big one that I'm working on right now but that's private for now, and I don't know if I will ever actually publish it, and I also have ideas for multiple future ones, including one where I'm going to reprise Jeff.)
(2/3) Appeal: For this round, there are a lot of cards that appeal to Tammy, as high fabricate numbers tend towards big creatures and/or big effects, both of which Tammy enjoy very much. This card is no different.
This card is too straightforward for Jenny to really do anything particularly special with.
Spike is definitely appealed by cards that are pushed to extremes, such as this legend.
(3/3) Elegance: Eloquently elegant.
Development -
(1/3) Viability: This card maybe could have existed in W instead of B, but both colors have lifelink, fabricate, and Day of Judgment/Damnation effects, so either color is theoretically fine I suppose.
Creativity -
(1/3) Uniqueness: As unique as an instant speed one-sided creature clearer that ignores tokens may initially sound (to me at least), my hunch did not stand up to scrutiny.
Polish -
(3/3) Quality: Perfect!
(2/2) Main Challenge: Main challenge met!
(2/2) Subchallenges: Both subchallenges met!
Total: 16/25
Final thought: The Aetherborn really are a strange bunch, now that I think about it.
(2/3) Appeal: Timmy likes creatures with either big bodies or big effects such as this one, but he hates sacrificing permanents. Spike does not mind; she would enjoy using a card such as this one, especially since it is already so pushed in terms of its power level. Johnny can build around this card somehow, but it lacks that exciting inventiveness that he craves.
(3/3) Elegance: Surprisingly elegant.
Development -
(3/3) Viability: This card fits quite fine into black on the color wheel as intended.
Creativity -
(1/3) Uniqueness: Nothing on this card is unique in regards to black.
Polish -
(2/3) Quality: The fourth line of rules text has two qualitative errors.
(2.5/3) Appeal: Timmy loves big creatures, and this would count just fine for him in that regard. Spike also likes efficient creatures that are ahead of the mana curve, especially when they are curve toppers. Johnny is less appealed compared to his counterparts, but the artifact recycling is still somewhat appealing.
(3/3) Elegance: This card is equally elegant as well!
Development -
(3/3) Viability: Every last part of this creation works just fine without any colors. Nothing less than mythic rare will do for such an intimidating curve topper.
(2/3) Balance: Since this card is mythic rare, it is going to come up so infrequently in limited that it hardly matters, otherwise the balance score here for this card would be a lot lower. Just like the other five Kaladeshi gearhulks, this card has been pushed to an extreme. However, this is an acceptable extreme in this particular case. This card is clearly meant to not simply be a 6/6 for five generic mana, but a card specifically meant to make a specific deck shine.
Creativity -
(1.5/3) Uniqueness: Putting fabricate and modular together on the same card is admittedly not something that has ever been done before (partly because fabricate is so new, I suppose).
(3/3) Flavor: Reduce, reuse, recycle!
Polish -
(2/3) Quality: There is an extraneous space at the end of the card name (minus half a point).
(3/3) Appeal: This is certainly a creature with a big body and effect for Timmy.
Development -
(3/3) Viability: This card works as (B/G) but I am not entirely certain as to whether or not it could have simply been B on the color wheel.
Creativity -
(1.5/3) Uniqueness: I would say that the third line of text is relatively unique, even if it is the only unique part of this card at all.
Polish -
(2/3) Quality: “Deathtouch” should be the first line of rules text; “Fabricate 4” should the second line of rules text (evergreen keywords come before non-evergreen keywords, minus half a point, see Highspire Artisan, Iron League Steed, Maulfist Squad, Propeller Pioneer, et cetera).

Design
(2/3) Appeal - Timmy likes the impact this has on the board but he probably wishes it were a little bit bigger.
Development
(3/3) Viability - There are both white abilities and red abilities here, so no problem with the color pie.
Creativity
(3/3) Uniqueness - The most original thing here is the type line, and that is very original.
Polish
(2.5/3) Quality - A typo in the flavor text ("magnificience" has an extra "i", -0.5). The reminder text of fabricate can be left out in this case, as it's a mythic and there is no room.
(2/2) Main Challenge - Good.
(2/2) Subchallenges - Both met.
Total: 19/25
Design
(3/3) Appeal - Timmy is definitely excited by this: it gives you 9 power anyway, is hard to block and it has huge impact on the board.
Development
(3/3) Viability - Fabricate is not in red in the Kaladesh set, but I really don't see any big problem with that color-pie-wise.
Creativity
(3/3) Uniqueness - Fabricate 5 doesn't exist yet for real and feels very splashy and memorable.
Polish
(3/3) Quality - All good.
(2/2) Main Challenge - Good.
(2/2) Subchallenges - Both met.
Total: 20.5/25
Design
(3/3) Appeal - Timmy likes both +1/+1 counters and tokens, so he should like this.
Development
(3/3) Viability - Fabricate is in Abzan colors in Kaladesh and the mechanics of this card feel very white, so no problems with the color pie.
Creativity
(3/3) Uniqueness - No card granting fabricate to other creatures exists in the Kaladesh set, so this is definitely new.
Polish
(2/3) Quality - Fabricate should not be capitalized in the second ability, both in the rules text and reminder text (2 x -0.5 = -1).
(2/2) Main Challenge - Good.
(1/2) Subchallenges - This has fabricate 3 but no activated ability. Ignoring the subchallenge has definitely been the right choice for you, congratulations for that. Not everyone would have done it.
