Welcome to the Keyword Creator's Contest, formerly known as the Mechanic Creator's Contest. In this contest, designers showcase mechanics they create in response to increasingly difficult challenges. The rules are simple:
Every round, you design a mechanic given a criterion for that mechanic. You get six "design points" to spread between cards like such:
Common: 1 point
Uncommon: 2 points
Rare/Mythic: 3 points
These cards will be your only opportunity to showcase your mechanic and its design space, so use them wisely. Note that your showcase cards need not all use the mechanic you create, but should tie into it effectively.
Designers must provide at least one card or be disqualified.
After a given period of time, there will be three days of voting. At the end of the round, the bottom three will be eliminated. As rounds continue, it will be more difficult to survive elimination. Sadril marched wearily with the troops back to the Wilt-Leaf safehold. If one were to look at him, Sadril would not capture any attention - he wore the same armor as his brethren, carried the same weapons, measured to the same mark on the age tree as the others. He had the same upbringing with the Gilt-Leaf matrons, had the same warrior training as the others in his troop, and generally was exceptionally average.
And yet, if one were to know Sadril's mind, it would quickly be found that he was anything but ordinary. While the others were relieved to be back at the safehold and huddle around the hearth, Sadril's heart burned with aspiration. He desired the glory of combat, and lived with a quiet determination to surpass even Rhys in his prime.
Their march over, the troop retired to the slumber pavillion. Sadril found his quarters and quickly fell to sleep. He dreamt of fighting a bizarrely feral army of red-skinned creatures, with gnarled tusks and mounted wargs. They were nearly beasts themselves, the way they bellowed and grunted their battle cries. But Sadril stood firm in formation, armor glistening in the sun - oh how he missed it's warmth - and braced for the onslaught. It came fast and fierce, but Sadril outmatched the opposing ground troops. He gradually made his way across the battlefield, cutting down many of them along his way, until he saw Rhys nearby. Several of the brutes were beginning to overwhelm Rhys, but Sadril intervened with a devastating sweep of his sword. The dream battle promptly ended, they returned to the safehold, and Sadril was heralded as the savior of the fight with furious applause.
It was then that he woke, realizing that his Liege captain was clapping at all of the troops to rouse themselves and prepare for combat. "Ready yourselves my kin - the sky is light once more, and we are beset by its harbingers."
