Has anyone every watch the show chopped on TV? If you haven't, it's basically where 4 cooks compete in a multi-round cook off, where they have to prepare a dish every round incorporating weird ingredients provided to them by judges.
I intend for this to be somewhat similar, except obviously it's about designing magic cards. 4 people can compete to try to win. Every round I list criteria the card has to follow: i.e. It has to be red, 3 man or more, and a non creature spell. After every round I would eliminate what I think is the weakest card out of them. The winner is the one who survives until the end.
Does this sound interesting to you guys? I saw people on another forum doing something similar to this and I thought I could give it a shot. If so, let me know. First four people get into the first round.
This looks like a cool idea. Never seen the show but I would participate in this. As for criteria, I don't know what you had planned but I think you might want to make it more specific then just a color or a certain mana cost. Maybe make a goal in mind with certain specific criteria in addition.
Making cards by criteria is nothing special around here and what is there that qualifies you as such a central judge.
Maybe that's what concerns some people. Not me though.
I'd be happy to join.

If you want it to be like Chopped, you probably want to have a full "basket" of requirements, some of which are counterintuitive. After all, Chopped usually does things like give people catfish, pickles, and chocolate to make an appetizer. The equivalent of that would be "A sorcery, mana cost 5 or more, monoblue, and contains the phrase "Up to three target creatures."

I may have phrased it wrong, but that's more or less what I was intending on doing.
Great! This round will go on until everyone posts an entry. If a long time goes by and one or more people still haven't posted their entries then they will automatically be eliminated.
BASKET 1:
A mono blue card
A creature card
5 or more power
An ETB effect
COOK AWAY!
Judging will be based on balance level, creativity, and how fun it would be to play. If you miss any of the criteria you will be docked points. Flavor is icing on the cake, but it isn't taken into account that much.

I think it'd be a good idea to have either a poll (if this is a multi-thread game) or have the previous winner be the judge for the next round. That way it's not just one person (you) deciding who wins each time. The winner can always decline to judge and pass the responsibility on to someone else if they want to.

I didn't do that because I wasn't sure that I could find another person. But here, howzabout this -- if someone submits an entry in the next 36 hours, then they can become part of this round. Other wise, we will just move on to round two with naime getting eliminated.

It was at that moment that I realized: I'm kinda just making these things up. We can just write the rules the way we want them to work. People will have fun, and people will get it.
Mirror of the Unreal:
This is probably my favorite of the cards. Big creatures with drawbacks are always fun, and this is no exception. This card is 4 for a 6/6 with a reletively small drawback, enough of one to be perfectly balanced but still good enough to see play. There really aren't that many illusion fatties out there either. But my favorite part about this is that it's legendary. C'mon, this card is just begging to have an EDH deck built around it, probably tribal illusions. Come to think of it, if this was real, I would probably build just that. You know a card is cool when it screams "build around me!" like this one does. Well done.
Domineering Sphinx:
Now this is interesting. I could see it being played in some standard control decks as a one-of. However where this would really shine is EDH. This card would likely be run in most all EDH decks that run blue, and rightfully so -- 8 mana isn't that much in EDH and you tend to have more permanents out as well. That being said, I really am not a fan of these kind of cards, as I almost feel this type of thing could be too game changing in many situations. Then again, cards like this certainly exist and don't break EDH or anything so this seems fine, especially at 8 CMC.
Packhunter Whale:
I'm not really sure how to judge this one, considering the rest of the cards are all rares and mythics, and this is only common. Like you said, this would be very fun on draft and would be something to get as many of as possible. This is a real Johnny card as well, considering that despite the fact it's just a 7 mana 5/6 with a minor effect, the cycling dramatically increases its playability and its chance to be good in some random combo deck. I can see some control decks running a few of these, which again, is made possible by its cycling. Even moreso, once you search up for the whales, you can cycle them, providing crucial card advantage. I almost feel like this is too good to be conmon, but then again, that would make it a lot harder to build around in draft. The more I think about this card, the more applications I can think of for this. This is actually a pretty innovative card.
Insight Elemental:
As a primarily standard player, I witnessed a lot of hype going on about the morph mechanic coming back. However, it honestly felt pretty unwhelming. Of all the morph cards, two only see play (Rattleclaw Mystic and that 6/6 with trample and hexproof, unless I'm forgetting one) in standard, out of at least 15 morphers. This card is assuming more morph cards see play, though I could think of a G/U deck resulting from the two other morph cards and this one. That being said, a deck like that would likely have faults in it, especially considering the main unmorph enabler is 6 mana at minimum, which is gonna take a while to get up to. Some morph creatures see play in other formats as well, but that potential deck runs into the exact same problem. At that rate, you may as well just pay to unmorph them. That being said, this could be fun in draft, considering many more morph cards are playable in that format.

It's true that you may not have had as much time to submit your card as the others. However, yours was the only card that wasn't very good in constructed, and the effect honestly seemed a bit boring, at least compared to the others. I feel like I had seen things like that before. Your card was still good though, and it would possibly enable G/U Morph as a deck type, at least in casual play.
Next round:
Instant or sorcery
Red (can contain other colors too, but must contain red)
Contains the phrase "deal(s) damage"
This one is a lot more conventional. I wanna see what you guys can do with this.

Sorcery (R)
