June CCL: Every Good Boy Deserves Favor
Signups - Question
It's been three years since your wife died - three long years of depression, of railing against the forces of nature that make death inevitable, and just generally avoiding coming to terms with what happened that night. As you prepare to climb up the stairs to your lonely bedroom, three quick knocks come from the door. You turn for a moment, wondering who would be coming by this late - it's past midnight - then walk over to the door.
At the door is a stooped old man... or maybe a tall man your own age in a red cloak... and then you have a momentary vision of sharp teeth and a pointed tail before the being's appearance reverts to something a little more normal. "I've heard you've been looking for me," it mentions in a vaguely sinister voice.
"Indeed I have," you answer, "though not for the reasons you suspect. I'll not be signing any contracts or anything of the sort; I just want the answer to a simple question. What exactly is death?"
The one on the other side of the door laughs. "I suppose you mean 'what exactly is being dead', since that question as worded is even simpler than you intended. Let me pose you a question in response, then: what do you mean to do with your answer?"
"I intend to reverse--"
He holds up a hand. "That's what I was afraid you would say. There is a good reason why death is normally a one-way door. But... I suppose I'll leave it for you to find out for yourself." He reaches into a satchel beside him and pulls out an inch-thick book bound in hide and smelling vaguely of corruption. "Read, and... well, I suppose it's a bit of a cliche. Anyway, read, and be damned to you." He turns and walks away, leaving the book in your hands - a book radiating a curious and malevolent warmth.
You begin reading, your interest piqued - and you don't stop until the first tinges of sunrise peer through the window.
Challenge: For your signup card, design an instant or sorcery that returns a single creature card from a graveyard to the battlefield - without any black mana in the mana cost. Additional side effects are allowable.
Signups will be open until June 1st at 7pm Pacific. The scoring system will be revealed with Round 1.

Asking out a girl is like trying to cast a first turn Necropotence. Sometimes the other player will have the Force of Will to say no. You shouldn't let that stop you from trying it.
