ASIDE: I'm not sure why people think my second mode is undercosted. The card would be pretty bad at 1B compared to Doom Blade and the like, and Human Frailty w required no set-up and killed a multitude of cards in limited, and even more in standard. My card also only has incidental value over Fatal Blow in that there are non-combat ways to get -1/-1 counters.
Well firstly comparing things to Doom Blade is generally not such a good idea.
I agree that B would be an ok cost for JUST the second effect but you can't ignore that this is a multi mode spell that can then be entwined for nearly unconditional removal OR even possibly killing two creatures if you split the entwine between two targets. Just like most charms are slightly overcosted for any single effect this needs to be slightly more expensive.

Considering nearly every other quest triggers off landfall (even less disruptable) I disagree. But in the end it is your call.
Ink-Treader - Aether Fusion - Recycle combined with Lich. The biggest downside I can see if that if you get stuck without a hand and your opponent doesn't have any way to get rid of it, it creates a near locked game. And if your hand is fairly full you can just make sure your deck is stacked with graveyard-reshuffling and counterspells and this becomes the basis of a really, really annoying combo-control deck.
I just want to point out that the enchantment EXILES your hand. It's much tougher to get cards out of there than the graveyard. Really it's basically Platinum Empyrion with a Teferi's Puzzle Box that wants you dead in a hurry.
This seems like a fun build-around-me card for some kind of storm/burn deck. It makes cards like Wild Cantor potentially nutty but is narrow enough to not be broken. The flavor is good and properly desolate.
This is a great limited fixer that may see some play in standard depending on the format. Its a really unique design that makes sense mechanically and is effective. I am not as sold on the flavor but I can see what you're getting at.
This seems too strong at its current cost. Its basically a repeatable Vendilion Clique without the body that can also hit lands. The flavor for the world you are building could be interesting but the 2 cards don't really mesh together flavorfully right now.
Your avatar is incredibly broken as its a 5 turn clock starting turn 2 that is really hard to block or kill. The land also seems broken though less so. I love the flavor and the abilities all mesh together well but I think they need to cost more. Also having 3 abilities on a land seems incredibly powerful, I think removing the mana ability would make it more balanced. The cards mesh together well both mechanically and flavorfully.
I like this a lot from a mechanical standpoint. I think it could probably be an uncommon and be fine but rare works too. Flavorfully it is a little lacking, I like the name but am not sure what it is trying to tell me. Also it is hard to connect your avatar to it from a flavor standpoint.
Both your avatar and land are kind of hilarious. The flavor is strong with both and the connection is clear. The land is narrow but could be a powerhouse depending on the environment, I like it a lot.

Sounds interesting but I'm struggling to really make this card feel like a tragic death as opposed to a mass polymorph variant. All permanents makes this card a lot of work. This card also needs to explain what happens when a choice can't be made - for instance a player has one planewalker card and it's already on the battlefield.

Interesting use of the quest mechanic. The flavor of sacrificing anything and everything in order to achieve one's goals really clicks for me.
I wasn't sure what to make of this card at first, but on further reflection I kind of like the way this card puts you on the razor's edge between victory and defeat. The 'Faustian bargain' aspect of black's identity also comes across really well.
I'll give it points for elegance, and I like the flavor text. But if I'm honest, I find it kinda boring from a purely mechanical standpoint.
I really like this a lot. I've always been a fan of strategies and combos that turn downsides into advantages since back when I played Yu-Gi-Oh. Plus on the flavor side I like how it references the fact that achieving immortality rarely turns out as well as one would hope.
Hmm, maybe it's just because the flavor isn't really clicking for me, but I'm not really getting how the immortality aspect of this really fits with blue? And honestly the use'em or lose'em aspect of the card draw feels more red than blue to me.
I love that when most people went with black for their cards, you went with the exact opposite. And pulled it off in my opinion. The flavor jives for me, and mechanically it makes me think of a white Elderscale Wurm.

I thought we were only supposed to critique the cards that were specifically made for this round, but if I misunderstood the rules please let me know so I can go back and redo my critiques correctly.

I'm reasonably sure that MaRo has said in the past that Lands, in order to preserve their mechanical identity, need to produce mana in some way. Generally either by tapping to add it to your mana pool or, as in the case of cards like Evolving Wilds, searching out other lands that produce mana.
I have never done this before so I didn't know if we were supposed to comment on the avatar or not, sorry I meant no offense. As far as rankings I didn't factor that in though, I like the flavor of your land but still feel it is too strong. I didn't know that MaRo had said that but it makes sense, I would maybe find a way to blend the abilities together rather then. Something like "2RGT: Deal one damage to target creature and put a +1/+1 counter on it, that creature fights another target creature." This is wordy but it removes the ability to just pump creatures and I think keeps the flavor of being forced to fight to grow. Just my 2 cents.
Zoomba: This land feels uncommon to me.
Highlander: Love your name. I feel this would be fine but powerful--reminds me of Contested Cliffs.

Just wondering, what reminder text are you referring to? Thespian's stage has no reminder text. If you mean the "and gains this ability" I didn't include it intentionally. I do agree that "(This effect lasts indefinitely)" should probably be added.
Rhand- The card is nice and powerful, and by the same token very undercosted at BBB aftermarketradio- I’m a fan of convoluted blue strategies but this one makes my brain hurt a little bit. So you get to switch out permanents for other permanents….neat? Also does not actually signify the circumstances that caused your avatars loved ones death. Balefire- Decent card, though I feel that cost needs to be tweaked a little, also no flavor text once again makes it hard to figure out what this is supposed to signify for your avatar. Cythare- Not a bad card but the lack of flavor text does make this unclear as to who or what your avatar lost, so it loses points there. Gerrard's Mom- This is not so much heartbreaking as it is a very sadistic choice, very black, and very nice, however the fact that it is so nice makes me think it might be more on the rare side of the line. WantonWizard- Meh, not really much to say, seems like an uncommon not so much a rare and no flavor text to give us these so called strange circumstances
Great card and a nice addition to Izzet. I can see how your avatar falls in love with her. (rules question though: does the converted mana cost stay the same if they're cheaper to cast? Otherwise he should hate her :p)
I like it because I have a dragon deck Shouldn't it say 'Dragon Creature Card' instead of 'Dragon Card'? Ace and Hykka are a nice couple.
The lovers sure work together. I'm not too sure what to think of Illybry though. It helps red with first strike, but first strikers usually don't have much thougness to add to their damage. Green has loads of thoughness on tramplers, so that works ok.
As far as matching goes, this fits perfectly. I'm not a big fan of Lanna though. Countering spells and gaining life from carddraw have nothing to do with each other and are a weird combination on a card.
