Nah, flavor's preTty neat. I just think it's too good.
I was all set to refute this claim on the basis that this card is comparable to Murderous Redcap, and in many situations it's worse. But, I think I might actually agree with you on this at this point. It just dawned on me that this would be a repeatable shock if you have a way to keep bouncing it back into your hand, which I think is probably too strong (think two of these and a Cloudstone Curio). I ended up posting a different version of this card in the current round of the MCC that I think fixes this problem. The new version costs , does 3 damage, and has a kicker cost of "Sacrifice a land".
The flavor is nigh perfect. I didn't vote for it because I don't think it's printable. Like you said, it's "put a 2/2 haste on bf" in disguise, and I doubt WotC would use DFCs for something they could do without them. It's possible, but not likely. At least not for a decade or so. I do love the card though.
Yeah, the flavor is good and all, but it shouldn't be a DFC.
I figured the card would fare poorly because people would think it could never see print. You guys might be right, but I feel like people handcuff themselves with this sort of thought process too often. If I posted any DFC before Innistrad existed, I'm pretty sure people would've said the same thing (same goes for manifest, cascade, etc).
Anyway, thanks to everybody for the feedback. I've really been enjoying the fact that these sort of discussions are happening more this month than in previous months. I enjoy a good debate.

Can't post today's thread - got stuck in town and my only computer access is at work where I really shouldn't even be posting this. If someone else will catch it, that'd be great.

I can't get to this right now but, if no one else puts it up, I can have it up sometime between 3 and 4 EST. Maybe a little earlier.

You're pretty close. I'd just modify the sentence to "Put a token onto the battlefield that's a copy of" ~, using Cackling Counterpart as precedence. "At the beginning of your attack step" is the best way to word the specific implementation you went for (at least the best way I can think of).
I really, really enjoyed bravelion83's card from February 16th, right up until I read the "this turn" part. I found it a great concept and one of the best cards I've seen here, but as is, far too unreliable.
Corrosive Breath 2B
Instant (U)
Target creature gets -X/-X until end of turn, where X is the number of cards you own that have been put into exile from anywhere this turn.
Sorry, I was mobile so tried to post quickly and probably didn't get my intended wording across correctly. I was trying to recommend "At the beginning of your attack step, put a token onto the battlefield tapped and attacking that's a copy of ~. Exile it at end of combat."
Flatline, I would've voted for the uncommon version of Tracker Hound. It was more exciting imo as an uncommon Extract for a creature than rare creature-only-Cranial Extraction.

Hmmm. Thanks for the feedback Legend. Honestly, I changed it to its current version because I thought people might not like it at uncommon, since I'm pretty sure there are no uncommon search and exile cards (I could be wrong). For the record, the card always only exiled a creature though. For those that missed it, it originally read something like this.....
Tracker Hound
Creature - Hound (U)
When ~ enters the battlefield, search target player's library for a creature card and exile it. Then that player shuffles his or her library and you gain life equal to that creature's converted mana cost.
2/2
Actually, the very first version I posted was B and W, but I figured there was no need for white since black already has lifegain itself.

would'd it be too cheesy if it was additionally a vampire and was named Blood Hound- for the life gain version?
of course, more "mundane" critters can have more charm (see Killer Whale) at this point than your Runeclaw Bears of the sleek modern style...
My favorite thing about the card is that it mirrors something from real life. I wouldn't want to change that. Honestly, I'm surprised this card doesn't already exist.
Edit: By the way, I like your Mario. I'm a big fan of translating famous characters into MTG cards. How come you never posted anything in the Famous Characters as Cards Thread I started a while back? I'm disappointed that never caught on.
Edit2: I actually started making a Kaiju vs Japan duel deck at one point. It featured Humans using artifacts to try to fend off the likes of Godzilla and what not, but I never finished it (like all other "sets" I come up with ).

One of those days where I thougt I had a great design and it gets no votes haha
I think your card today was perfectly serviceable, but it's hard to vote for a card that's strictly better than an existing card in recent printing. I've also noticed that some people tend to not cast votes for people higher in the standings than they are, which is a shame for people producing genuinely good cards but inevitable in a 'contest' like this.
Hmmmm....my card has received no votes thus far. Hopefully that's not a sign of things to come in the MCC.....

Aww, I was editing my vote post to contain my card when the new thread went up. I'm not used to threads being up quite so early in the day. My own fault though for not adding it yesterday. Guess I'll use the card for today instead.

I honestly don't think there is much of that going on here. I'd like to think that most of the people that post here regularly have more integrity than that. Especially since there isn't anything real at stake.
Edit: Also, I've been posting in the DCC pretty regularly since June, and I can't say I've noticed much of a pattern to indicate that what you're saying is true.
Edit2: Actually, forget all that. I'm going to go ahead and pretend that what you're saying is true. That way I can use it as an excuse for my poor performance of late.

It certainly hasn't been an obvious thing; it just seems that generally it is harder for the top two on the leaderboard to continue getting large numbers of votes. There could be other causes than corrupted voting too - holding those leaders' cards to higher standards since the designers have recently proven themselves, giving "ties" one way on day 1 then the other on day 2, or whatever else people's voting patterns are. I agree that the majority of contestants aren't consciously doing it.
Hmmmm....A planeswalking Indiana Jones, interesting. I hadn't made the connection yet myself, but then I'm a little slow. I may have gotten it if your next card is Tarvish's Whip though. BTW, in case it isn't clear, I vote he's a planeswalker. Or maybe he starts out as a non-walker looking for an artifact that ends up igniting his spark when he finds it.
On another note, I feel like there must already be a card that exists that does what Sucker Punch does, but I don't know of one.

I tend to vote on pretty static and uninteresting criteria: is it templated correctly? Does it use the text box economically? Does it show signs of development considerations? I'll vote for a simple, common card that does those things over a wildly creative, but messy chase rare card. (Although occasionally an ugly card is just so awesome that I'll give it the nod.)
I suspect that most voters prioritize creativity and power-level higher than I do. And there's nothing at all wrong with that. But I think the net effect is that I usually appear to vote for the underdog. That's not something that I'm doing deliberately, at all. I think it's just a by-product of valuing cards differently than most voters.
I tend to vote pretty highly based on creativity and elegance. Is it a card that intersects between new territory and I get all I need to know out of one read? That's what I like to vote for. I don't vote based on standings, but I admit, certain people design more to my standards than others, and I tend to vote for those people. You can tell a lot about what people prioritize based on their own designs strengths and weaknesses over the month.
A lot of my entries here are also spontaneous. I may take the time today and tomorrow to actually plan some entries in advanced. Knock Flatty off the throne.

Debating on whether or not he makes sense as an actual planeswalker, or if everything he's doing is on the same plane as the university, though.
