Assuming you're talking about Moratorium...You really think so huh? I can see where you're coming from. I really like the card though, and feel like it would be fairly weak if it cost . Perhaps I should remove the temporary Meddling Mage effect then? I am kinda trying to make a card that messes with people on the first turn in Legacy. I need to keep thinking about this one, I think it's still brewing. Maybe I should have sat on this one a bit and posted a card I've been thinking about a little longer, instead of one that just came to me today.
Edit: I think I've got an idea to tone it down a bit. I'll probably change it later. I still need to think about whether or not I care if the card is Legacy bannable. Its not like Wizards doesn't print new Legacy bannable cards from time to time. It would probably just be a nice way to slow down aggro and combo for a turn in Modern and Standard, if they decide to ever print a playable combo in Standard again.
Edit2: @ Link, I don't know if you look @ this thread but... I really like your card today (Scion of Light), but wonder if maybe it would be better in black? it's a hatebear though, so maybe white is correct.
Edit3: I applied my fix to Moratorium, hopefully it helps.

So I actually got to go out last night and play some Magic with my friends for the first time in a while (which is why I'm just now waking up @ 11:00 ). Across the board, they all felt I should keep it in it's original form. Of course, none of them play competitive Legacy. Neither do I for that matter, but I'm a little more knowledgeable about the format than most of my group. Still, I woke up this late morning thinking I might change it back. I think my friends may have convinced me to just go for broke.
Edit: I'm not sure why this would be comparable to Spell Pierce in its revamped state, or would only be relevant in the late game. I'm on the play, they drop a turn 1 Noble Hierarch, Goblin Guide, Birds, etc., I cast Moratorium, if they don't have a different 1 drop in their hand, they now don't get to play a T1 spell, thus hampering their tempo (remember, the Meddling Mage effect is still there). Late game, lets use Storm as an example, they play a bunch of spells achieving a potentially fatal Storm count, they cast Grapeshot, you counter with Moratorium. They must now wait until next turn to replay the Grapeshot, in which time you may find, or now have enough mana to cast, a more permanent solution. Or you may be able to just win with the extra turn Moratorium bought you. With the untap land clause, the spell is basically saying, you can't play that spell this turn. I don't necessarily care what other spell you might play, I just don't want you play that spell this turn. Without the untap clause, the spell has the potential to practically Timewalk your opponent for 1 blue, since they may have tapped out, which may cause them to not be able to do anything more than draw a card on their turn. I'm still not sure where the card will end up, although I'm running out of time to figure it out.
Edit 2: Screw it! I returned the card to its original, more powerful state. If people don't vote for it because they think it's too strong maybe I'll repost it with the untap clause later in the month, after I'm out of the running for the month. Don't be surprised if I change my mind again though. Probably, the smart thing to do would be to post a different card entirely and let this one brew a bit longer.

Both points taken CryoZenith. As I was writing the thing about countering their first turn Hierarch, I thought about them then just dropping a first turn Birds instead. Also, you're correct on the Storm thing as well. I was just trying to think of a combo win that the spell could delay. I picked the wrong one . Anyway, it's a 1 mana counterspell that targets any spell, it shouldn't work perfectly in all situations. I ended up reverting it back to its original, more powerful state anyway. Legacy be damned!
Edit: Thanks for the feedback Cryo, it's much appreciated.

Damn you GG Crono! You beat me to the punch! I have been working on a Soul of Lorwyn/Shadowmoor card ever since I started to realize that they weren't going to make one. Just for funsies here's where mine stands now:
Soul of Lorwyn
Creature - Avatar
3WB: Choose a creature type, creatures of the chosen type get +1/+1 until end of turn, each other creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn.
3WB, Exile ~ from your graveyard: Choose a creature type, creatures of the chosen type get +1/+1 until end of turn, each other creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn.
If ~ is in your hand, or in your graveyard, you may Transform it.
6/6
//
Soul of Shadowmoor
Creature - Avatar
3WB: Choose a color, then choose a creature: Choose one - The chosen creature gets +1/+1 for each mana symbol of the chosen color among permanents you control until end of turn, or the chosen creature gets -1/-1 for each mana symbol of the chosen color among permanents you control until end of turn.
3WB, Exile ~ from your graveyard: Choose a color, then choose a creature. Choose one - The chosen creature gets +1/+1 for each mana symbol of the chosen color among permanents you control until end of turn, or the chosen creature gets -1/-1 for each mana symbol of the chosen color among permanents you control until end of turn.
If ~ is in your hand, or in your graveyard, you may Transform it.
4/4
As you can see, it still needs lots of work, especially the crazy business going on with the Shadowmoor side. Also, I'm not sure about the how the whole Transform in your hand thing would work. You'd basically just have to pay the mana for which side you wanted to cast, and then transform it when it entered the battlefield. I'm pretty sure your opponent would notice if you were transforming a card in your hand.

Yeah, as I said, the card is still in a very raw state. I'm not sure how much more work I'll put into it now that I've been beaten to the punch. Dibs on Soul of Kamigawa! (Just kidding)
Edit: Quick question...Is it ok for me to post my "Nonsense" in the DCC thread? I'm just trying to have fun, but I could see how it could be considered cheating and/or irritating. I don't plan to continue doing it much either way.
Edit 2: I'm not a huge fan of the creature type Advisor for my card today. Does anybody have any other ideas for its class? I run into this a lot with class types. I think MTG needs more creature classes. I suppose I could always just make one up.
Edit 3: I wish more people posted on this thread so I didn't have to keep editing my posts. Even a quick, "Flatline, shut up an stop editing you posts!", would suffice. It'd at least let my restart my ramblings on fresh post!
Edit 4: So I take it you saw my post Indighost. Great! Now I can finish even laster! But really... Welcome to the DCC! (Assuming you haven't done this in the past.) I have a feeling you'll do quite well here. At least better than me! Also, good card today. I loved the way you tied its flavor into being hassled to join the DCC, and still made a good, functional card of it. That's why I suggested you join.

Hey guys! Since I just entered this, I thought I should come in and say hi, and since people have asked about cards, I was very unsure how to word the following:
Nekoromancer2BB
Creature - Cat Wizard (U)
When Nekoromancer enters the battlefield, put a 2/2 Zombie token into the battlefield. X, T: Put a token into the battlefield that is a copy of target Zombie you control, except it's power and toughness is halved. X is the targetted Zombie's converted mana cost. "When the cats yowl in the alleys of Innistrad, one can be sure something more is going on than mere stray cats..."
2/2
I've designed fake Yu-Gi-Oh cards for a lot of years but I have never really done it for Magic ones (I am just now really getting into Magic as I have actual ways to play it now), so I don't know a lot about proper wording for cases like this. (I also didn't know how to solve the memory issue for Monochromatic) Did I at least come close to right, heh?
Hello RukiMotomiya! Happy to have you along. I'll try to help, but I suffer from the same malady, as I too often have a difficult time with card wording. Here's my take, for what it's worth, I'm only going to focus on the activated ability, as everything else seems fine, except the first line says into the battlefield instead of onto...
: Target a zombie you control converted mana cost X. Put a token onto the battlefield that is a copy of that creature, except, its power and toughness are each equal half the power and toughness of the targeted creature?
This could be wrong also. Anybody else?
Edit: Also, please don't call my cards fake. They are "custom".
Edit2: Or?
: Put a token onto the battlefield that is a copy of target zombie creature you control with converted mana cost X. Except its power and toughness are each equal half the power and toughness, each rounded up, of that creature.
I think I like this one better, but again, I'm not the best at this.
Edit3: I forgot about the rounded up part. That's important. I told you I'm not so good at this.
Edit4: Culstath, The One and Only = EDH...Elder Druid Hatebear.....

That's fine. I couldn't come up with a better name for it at the time, or later that night, and it is a decent "let's be a dick to the minorities (of creature types)" card.
Memory Lane
Land T: Add 1 to your mana pool. T: Add one mana of any color that a land in your graveyard could produce. Hauntingly familiar, yet comfortingly foreign.
Ok, so I love the design of this card, but I'm almost certain it doesn't work since lands in you graveyard don't produce mana. That being said, can someone either:
show me why this card does actually work correctly; or
provide an alternate rules text for this so that it does work (because I can't think of one)
Again, I really love this card, and I just want to see if there is a way to make this work correctly with the rules.
EDIT: On a completely unrelated note, I think Flatline is supposed to be at 20 on the scoreboard instead of 10.
"Add one mana of any color in the color identity of a land in your graveyard to your mana pool." is an acceptable solution (in that it fits into the current rules), though it means certain lands that could normally only produce colorless mana will give colored mana through this ability.
The alternative is editing CR 106.7 so that it isn't limited to permanents, which is left as an exercise for the reader.
Rudyard's suggestion is an exact copy of a card I created recently that I was planning on entering into the DCC at some point this month (probably later after I'm out of the running as I think it's probably OP, think Dark Depths). Anyway, I'm just putting that out there. Also, are people sure Indighost's card doesn't work as is?

I have no idea. JuanCu, you have two separate keywords on Baleful Teleport, neither of which are really explained. I would suggest rewording the card.

Instant (C)
Shadowstep - Teleport two target creatures (If they have the same owner, each becomes the other in all zones. Switch the base object as reminder.) "If they get to ask what happened, you are not doing it right." -Diya, Dimir Field Agent
i get what this does, but it took a second. not only is this pretty confusing and complicated for common, it's rather under-costed for common, i mean it's even hybrid.
switch your opponent's bomb for a long dead weenie? decent soft removal. switch your weenie for a discarded bomb? that's some cheap reanimation.
get stuff back from exile? at common? seems like this can be used for combat tricks as well.
complexity, power andversatility- at common, at hybrid, at one mana.
Heart of the Roil
Land (R)
Heart of the Roil enters the battlefield tapped.
: Add to your mana pool. Landfall — Whenever another land enters the battlefield under your control, exile Heart of the Roil, then return it to the battlefield under your control.
with two copies of this they loop infinitely
with Hedron Crab you almost have an exceptionally cheap infinite mill combo
except the blink effect here is not optional
rule 421.4 regarding infinite loops: "If the loop contains only mandatory actions, the game ends in a draw."
i guess if you're about to lose and have a Heart of the Roil in play, you can drop another one from your hand and draw the game intentionally
I just realized this myself and turned on my computer to change it. The question is, do I add a clause about the card not being named Heart of the Roil? Do I make it legendary? Or do I scrap the card entirely and post a different one? I'll have to think about that. Thanks for letting me know though. I thought of this card on my ride home from work today, and in my excitement, I didn't think it all the way through. I do that sometimes.
Edit: Actually, I'm not sure if making it Legendary would even work. I'll have to look into it.

The idea actually started as a creature that was going say something like...Whenever a Landfall ability you control triggers, it triggers twice instead. But then I started to wonder if that would even work, just as you are. Anyway, I changed the card to...Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, if it isn't named Heart of the Roil...I'm pretty sure this would make the card work as I intended and not set any crazy new precedent or anything. Right?
Edit: Nobody here plays EDH?! I thought a card that just hated out other generals seemed cool. Was it just poorly executed?

I'm not sure I'm following your meaning CryoZenith. I can't specify that the land can't be named HotR? Until the comma, the card is worded exactly the same as any other Landfall ability. Is it because it checks for whenever a land enters the battlefield under my control, therefore I can't have a this qualifier. It would work if I just removed Landfall from the card, right? Maybe I'll just do that then.

No, it only targets "two target creatures", not "two target creature cards in the battlefield, graveyard or exile." The "all zones" part is to clarify that the two permanents don't turn back at any point later, you physically switch the objects without spells fizzling, blocking assignments changing, or attachments following (yes, a card may become a token and viceversa, but I use 'become' not 'become a copy' and then remind players to switch the base objects.)
On Commonality, NWO restricts complexity at common, but doesn't ban it: I'm ok with shadowstep using a big part of the complexity allotment, because it's the dimir mechanic in Ravnica Asunder.
And I guess two keywords may be overkill, I wanted to make teleport look like a 'regular part of the game' and Shadowstep to indicate that it's the dimir mechanic, but those two are conflicting so I'll remove Shadowstep.
Heart of the Roil
Land (R)
Heart of the Roil enters the battlefield tapped.
: Add to your mana pool.
Landfall — Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, if it isn't named Heart of the Roil, exile Heart of the Roil, then return it to the battlefield under your control.
I was just hoping you could explain to me what makes this card special? The only thing I can think of is that it makes other landfall effects trigger an extra time? I haven't really done much landfall stuff in my play experiences, so I'm not sure how relevant that is? I suppose it's pretty good with Lotus Cobra. Not sure how much play the other landfall cards see. Bloodghast sees no extra benefit from an extra trigger.
I think you've got the basic idea Cal09. I'm not claiming the card is tournament worthy, its more of a fun table-top card IMO. I just like the idea. It may be pretty good with Hedron Crab as Rudyard said earlier. If you have 4 of these in play, and drop a land, that's 5 Landfall triggers, with a fetch it's 10! I know this is a really win more type scenario. As I said, it's more of a fun card for table-top.
Edit: Also, I believe it would work with Bloodghast in the correct deck. In response to the each Landfall trigger, you could sac the Ghast to something like Vampire Aristocrat, and get as many as ten Bloodghast sacs out of a fetchland! If that's your thing. Of course, again, this may be win more. I think I'm correct here, I am at work, so I don't have much time to think about it.

Edit: Thanks for the feedback Cryo, it's much appreciated.

:-D (The no-vote day was worth it just for that line, guys. Don't worry about explaining what's wrong with the card.)

Nekoromancer 2BB

Ok, so I love the design of this card, but I'm almost certain it doesn't work since lands in you graveyard don't produce mana. That being said, can someone either:
EDIT: On a completely unrelated note, I think Flatline is supposed to be at 20 on the scoreboard instead of 10.
The alternative is editing CR 106.7 so that it isn't limited to permanents, which is left as an exercise for the reader.

only problem with this solution is it combos strongly with anything like Lotus Vale, or Simic Growth Chamber and a discard outlet. but, y'know
um
hmm
i get what this does, but it took a second. not only is this pretty confusing and complicated for common, it's rather under-costed for common, i mean it's even hybrid.
switch your opponent's bomb for a long dead weenie? decent soft removal. switch your weenie for a discarded bomb? that's some cheap reanimation.
get stuff back from exile? at common? seems like this can be used for combat tricks as well.
complexity, power and versatility- at common, at hybrid, at one mana.
with two copies of this they loop infinitely
with Hedron Crab you almost have an exceptionally cheap infinite mill combo
except the blink effect here is not optional
rule 421.4 regarding infinite loops: "If the loop contains only mandatory actions, the game ends in a draw."
i guess if you're about to lose and have a Heart of the Roil in play, you can drop another one from your hand and draw the game intentionally
kinda lame
Edit: Actually, I'm not sure if making it Legendary would even work. I'll have to look into it.
"Lands entering the battlefield under your control cause triggered abilities to trigger twice."
based on Torpor Orb's wording. but it might backfire if an opponent has something like Shattered Angel.
here's a tweak that might not even work:
"Lands entering the battlefield under your control cause landfall abilities of permanents you control to trigger twice?"
is this possible?
Edit: Nobody here plays EDH?! I thought a card that just hated out other generals seemed cool. Was it just poorly executed?
