Looks like a few other people are being discounted about whether a keyword mechanic needs to have been new, and whether it later being evergreen is important.
In my case, two of the judges felt “deathtouch” wasn’t an eligible keyword ability. My chosen block was Lorwyn-Shadowmoor, and aside from a brief mention in Time Spiral (which again, you said didn’t count anyway), it debuted in Lorwyn as a non-evergreen mechanic (just as Scry or Prowess are now evergreen, but weren’t when they were introduced).
bravelion83, can you provide some helpful clarification?
My intent was for mechanics that are now evergreen to not count, and somehow I didn't write explicitly, probably because I was subconsciously giving it for granted, but I can see your reasoning here. In the end, I decided to leave it to the judgment of the single players, as I can see reasons for it being both acceptable and not.

Did you miscount the round 4 scores? By my count, willows should have gotten first place and I should have gotten third.
Oops, you're probably right. I just checked my file and I have you with one first place, two second and one third, but it's not possible to have four other players critique you with four players total. Going to remake calculations right now.
EDIT: Ok, you're officially right. See the right scores here. The finalists are Ink-Treader and willows. Many thanks and honor to you, theazurespirit!

Does first strike count as a 1 and double strike count as a 2?
Does Split second count as a 2?
No to both. It needs to be the actual numbers, not derived adjectives.

I apologize for disappearing from this month's CCL. I went on vacation with my family and only had enough time to keep up with posting the DCC thread. That said, as long as it's not too late, I intend to still post my round 1 judgments, even though I missed round 2. I've always felt that, if you enter a round of the CCL, you have made a commitment to post crits for that round. I intend to honor that commitment regardless of whether I finish out the rest of the month.

That's good, but you can still submit a card for round 3, that is still open. Maybe if you make two big scores you could advance even if you missed one round.

bravelion83, unless you have someone else in mind (which would be absolutely cool), I’d be willing to host the CCL for July. I think it could be a lot of fun to do. I like the format and scoring that you use, so I would try to keep it as similar as possible to what you have.

It's not me who decides, it's on a volunteer basis. It just happened that in the last four months nobody volunteered and I took matters into my own hands rather than letting the contest die. I was already planning something, but I can easily keep my plan for another time. As far as I'm concerned, July is yours. I just warmly recommend to keep the rules I used, as you already stated you want to do. They are the fairest in my opinion and I never had a single problem with them. I finally finished my crits for round 1. Again, sorry it took so long.
No problem, at least you did it. Too many people still have to post critiques, and in round 3 we still have only ONE critique when the deadline has already passed! Players, please critique! I can't move on without a decent number of critiques. If you know you didn't post your critiques and top 3 for any of the first three rounds for June, please do so now!

"Make a card with kicker." must be only second to "Make a card." in terms of broadness.
Yeah, good point. In hindsight, I should have added an additional restriction or two.
Don’t worry, the next round will be more interesting, I promise.
It seems ok to me for a 1st round challenge. Also there are some additional restrictions beyond just making a card with kicker. Personally, I think the theme for the month is pretty cool, and I'm not even a soccer fan. It makes sense that, if you're going to go with kicker cards all month, that you would start out with a fairly straight forward, broad challenge.

For the same reason Flame Slash doesn't read "Destroy target creature with toughness 4 or less"..... 'cause it's red. If I was going to go your route, I probably would've made the snake green with a black kicker. Also, I like deathtouch pingers.

Sure. But MaRo often said you can't do a green creature and give it flash, deathtouch and fight on etb. Because even if that's all well within the color individually it's still not something that green is supposed to do in combination, as it just works like an instant removal.
Of course I got what you were going for. But it's just the same as 'destroy', which is nothing red is supposed to do. But that wasn't even my point. It was more of a complexity issue, than color pie, since you did it on a black card. Also Flame Slash works great with other damage sources, which is very relevant in limited.
Who doesn't love deathtouch pingers. But part of the fun is assembling them.

• The two public custom sets I've been part a part of the design team for:
"Brotherhood of Ormos" - Blog post with all info - set thread - design skeleton / card list || "Extinctia: Homo Evanuit" - Blog post with all info - set thread - card list spreadsheet
• "The Lion's Lair", my article series about MTG and custom card design in particular. Latest article here. Here is the article index. Rather outdated by now, and based on the old MCC rubric, but I'm leaving this here for anybody that might be interested anyway.
• My only public attempt at being a writer: the story of my Leonin custom planeswalker Jeff Lionheart. (I have a very big one that I'm working on right now but that's private for now, and I don't know if I will ever actually publish it, and I also have ideas for multiple future ones, including one where I'm going to reprise Jeff.)
EDIT 2: And June Round 1 is up!

No to both. It needs to be the actual numbers, not derived adjectives.

That's good, but you can still submit a card for round 3, that is still open. Maybe if you make two big scores you could advance even if you missed one round.

If you need any help, feel free to contact me, also via pm.

Of course I got what you were going for. But it's just the same as 'destroy', which is nothing red is supposed to do. But that wasn't even my point. It was more of a complexity issue, than color pie, since you did it on a black card. Also Flame Slash works great with other damage sources, which is very relevant in limited.
