I'd have judged, but I'm 4 days or so without internet in the middle of the month again. That didn't work out so well last time.
Next month again. This month, I'll confine myself to thank our diligent judges.

• "The Lion's Lair", my article series about MTG and custom card design in particular. Latest article here. Here is the article index.Rather outdated by now, and based on the old MCC rubric, but I'm leaving this here for anybody that might be interested anyway.
• My only public attempt at being a writer: the story of my Leonin custom planeswalker Jeff Lionheart. (I have a very big one that I'm working on right now but that's private for now, and I don't know if I will ever actually publish it, and I also have ideas for multiple future ones, including one where I'm going to reprise Jeff.)
What's the logic behind stretching the deadlines back so far? Yes, extra time is always appreciated, but I believe that 6 days for entries and 5 for judging is excessive. From my experience, many judges complete their judgments the night of the deadline (or the day after, in some cases). Now we're in a position where we're almost halfway through the month, yet we're still waiting on a judge for the first round. Perhaps we should return to the old schedule of 4 days of entries followed by 3 days of judgment next month?
So, Flatline is officially our MCC Champion for October. I make my congratulations to him on behalf of the Consulate. He's now officially the second best inventor on Kaladesh, after myself of course. Now you'll excuse me but I have to leave. Why? It doesn't matter. The Skysovereign is waiting for me. I'm sure you'll be fine in the hands of those other miserable planeswalkers who fell in my trap. Well, hands or paws. I didn't expect that huge leonin... I'll have to account for him too. But now another cat will take back possession of this account, a fakely courageous one. Oh, if only you knew him for real... then you'd see that courage is nothing more than a mere masquerade. As for me, I'm sure we'll see again soon.
—Head Judge Tezzeret
My sincerest gratitude to Head Judge Tezzeret. Your guidance and leadership has made this year's fair yet another glorious success. I am humbled to have competed with such wonderfully creative inventors, and it is an honor to have my hard work recognized by the Consulate. I look forward to next year's fair. Thank you.

(0/3) Quality: Many quality issues on this design. I suggest you visit this page for guidelines on proper MTG card formatting for the MCC and toher card design contests (http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/creativity/custom-card-creation/649832-custom-card-creation-rules). The creature power and toughness should be the bottom line of text (-0.5 points). The mana cost of the card should be on the same line as the name (-0.5 points). The rarity should be on the same line as the card types (-0.5 points). Undaunted's reminder text is missing (-0.5 points). I am not fully familiar with how to group all of the evergeeen abilities on this card, but they do all need to be on one line (except Undaunted which should have its own line)(-0.5 points). The flavor text is a conversation, but all flavor text should be on the same line unless the text is too long and needs to run onto the next line in the text box (-0.5).
First of all, thank you for your time and energy judging cards.
Now for the complaint: I don't exactly agree with your overall assessment of my card, but I can live with it. Except when it comes to "quality". I will ask that you visit here and scroll to the bottom. It shows how Wizards of the Coast text formats cards. Are they doing it wrong?
EDIT: Also, Vigilance comes before Reach and Hexroof comes before Indestructible and the former pair comes before the latter pair. The contest rules don't say we have to include any reminder text. As for the flavor text, I haven't found anything that supports my version or your claim that it should be on the same line. (still looking)

If WotC were to submit a design in the MCC then yes, they would be doing it wrong, just as someone that uses MTGS formatting while submitting a design to WotC would be. There is a clearly identified MTGS card contest text format, it is laid out in the rules of the MCC. I'm not trying to be jerk here, nor butt in where I don't belong, but this subject comes up every time someone judges your card in the MCC. Why can't you just follow the agreed upon rules of the contest? It would be unfair for a judge to give you pass for not following the standard MTGS formatting while others are being held to it. Again, I don't mean to be a jerk, you're one of my favorite designers around here, but I've just seen this same post so many times I feel compelled to comment.

Necarg is still AWOL. I would be willing to step in and complete his bracket (excluding myself, of course) and put up the next round if people are interested with the contest moving forward.
At risk of usurping the MCC's natural order, I decided to judge Necarg's bracket and put the second round of the MCC up. You can find my judgments in the thread for the first round of the MCC.

Despite bombing out, I agree with the course of action taken. The month is half over.
So what's up with Necarg? He was last online 3 days ago, which rules out something along the lines of his computer breaking down. Did he just decide to drop all responsibilities this month? If so, that's extremely inconsiderate and irresponsible.
I have officially closed the thread for the previous round, as it closed, by time, 8 hours ago. Admirableadmiral, since you took the time to set up round 2, please distribute the 11 submissions between the 3 judges that are remaining (Folza, Void_Nothing, Bravelion).
Alright. Also, given how late it is into the month, and the fact that we'll only have six contestants this round, would it be okay if I just cut to the final round?
Anyways, you should talk to the other judges and see if they agree to this. If so, then go ahead. I don't like it, ut given how late it is and Round 2 is still not done.

If at all possible, I would want to see a full four rounds. This month is falling apart, to be sure, but the contestants deserve a full vetting. I can even organize the last two rounds if that would be most convenient.
