There are movements on Thanreus's playing board. There is a quickening of the world's heart. Nation-races are coming together and drifting apart as if some divine wind has disturbed the surface of reality. Links are being forged between Thanreus's divided people, alliances hammered. These are no small friendships between people in the taverns; they are being played out by the leaders, by the armies, by the thousands.
Tension has eased its way into every day life. There are soundless war drums thrumming on the currents, and trees hold bated breath as they wait for something that may come all too soon.
There can only be one question: What could be so terrible to have effected all this?

The Challenges.
CHOOSE 2.
I. Create a creature card that combos with one of your teammates' races, either tribally or by interacting with one of their themes or mechanics.
II. With another teammate, create one creature card that is a combination of both races, such as a pair or a hybrid. The card will be used to critique both players.
III. As a team, create an uncommon or rare set of "elite" versions of each of your races. Individual players will be critiqued for their own card only, but with the cycle in mind.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS.
I. At least one card per player must have flavor text that is a quote from another teammate's race.
II. Entries can only be uncommons and rares.
DUE DATES.
Cards Due 6PM EST, Thursday, 14th June.
Rankings Due 6PM EST, Saturday, 16th June.
Concerning the quest of knowledge thing, where would the Acteras come in?
Because of the whole Hive thing they're kinda primal in their mindset and not really the kind to learn thing just for learning...
(Also, could you perhaps add the race colours next to our names in the first post? Saves a little time not having to go to each race page...)
Done.
Well, they all don't have to form alliances immediately. Maybe 2 races form an alliance, and then they form an alliance with another race that's already allied with one. It's like that sister or brother-in-law that you begrudgingly accept into the family.
Editing some more meat into mine soon. As far as geographic location goes think a mountainous rainforest region. Main classes for mine are shamans/warriors/wizards (mostly color dependent).
I think it would be good if everyone posts a brief summary of their ideals and what they wish to accomplish. Bonus would be attitude towards the other races on team.
I'll put mine up later, we have guests this evening.
Good idea.
Delthran cities are built almost always near or on the water and incorporate elaborate dock systems and walkways. Most settlements are built on bodies of water in the Ghraig jungle. Their capital city, Rigil, looks something similar to Ancient Ziggurat(conflux) surrounded by a large span of wooden buildings/houses and entirely covers a large island in the center of lake Del. They have an affinity towards trading/sailing/fishing and some may go the pirate/mercenary route. Population wise they would probably be average, nothing extreme enough to dominate a war on their own but enough that other races are well enough aware of their presence. Their warriors are extremely skilled and their elite skills compensate for the Delthran's lack of a major army. Chosen weapons being large daggers or crossbow for ranged attacking as well as Delthran shamans using some combat magic. Most Delthran magic isn't based on its use in combat though. Other races may classify Delthran warriors as savages, as their melee combat tactics are very aggressive.
If the Delthran were put into a war situation, it would be because of either; a defensive reason like protecting their own borders, an ally in trouble (an honorable race, doesn't forget it when you help them).
Delthran views/opinions of other races.
Trezzen
Trading partners.
Interest in their abilities to enchant livestock.
Atceras
Nearly nothing in common. Probably need to be allied through a common interest or another common ally.
Celestials
Could be tied to Delthran shamans and spiritual connections.
Lrin
Not sure if there is much of a connection here. Maybe allied because of their magic abilities in battle? The Delthran prefer physical combat and don't use all that much in the ways of offensive magic.
If your teammates haven't communicated yet, it would probably be a good idea to come up with ideas for them and send it to them. If they agree, go with it.
If your teammates haven't communicated yet, it would probably be a good idea to come up with ideas for them and send it to them. If they agree, go with it.
Easiest way I see it, without involving mutual allies, is that a common border is threaten by a third part, as both races seem somewhat territorial.
I like the common borders idea. A hive based near the edge of the Lareen (placeholder name, I don't like it) jungle. Either an attack from an outside force, or an attempt to enslave your/our race(s).
I'm still working on the details, but the Delthran were initially bred for slavery and escaped yada yada yada so they have huge quams with slave-drivers I figure maybe some other race views the Atcera as inferior and a good slave force (workers and whatnot) maybe the Delthran take issue with this and help you out?
I figured it might be a cop out if mine were enslaved and then they tried to enslave them again, so it might make more sense if the Atcera were the target.
It seems we have a connection between our races now at least, now to figure out how to get the other races connected...
We may be getting the absent players replaced. It's impossible to do this if we're not communicating properly (properly = at all).
I'm gonna go check the compendium for any slave driving races. I'd rather tie it with another user race if possible than some random one we make up. Deeper connections that way.

Quote from Trabant777 »
WUPhilerianWU
Description
Philerians are a race of telepaths, that revere life and are repulsed by those who would wantonly take it.
Physical Description
Philerians are humanoids that range in height from seven to ten feet tall, although their stature can be intimidating they are generally thin and not very physically strong (although there are exceptions). Their bodies are covered with very small snakelike scales, their eyes are always large, round, and black, and they have gills along their ribs that allow them to breathe underwater. generally their skin/scales are a sky blue color but they come in white/green/brown/and occasionally black. although at first glance they seem scary, they have very animated faces that generally come across as friendly.
Culture/Beliefs/Society
Philerians have only one city that they congregate in to gather supplies or share news, and they will travel great distances to reach it, but for the most part they are a hermetic/nomadic race that prefers to spend time in small groups or alone in meditation, that being said they will very fiercely protect their borders from other races since they do not want them to corrupt the minds of their youglings. They have strong beliefs that their ability to manipulate other races in the plane is a curse rather than a gift, for with it comes the responsibility of wielding that power in a just manner. No Philerian is even allowed to have contact with another sentient race until they have spent 5 years in solitude mentally preparing themselves, this is called the Melenth this 5 years starts after their 16th birthday celebration that brings them into adulthood. Philerians are generally pacifists by nature, avoiding conflict and avoiding getting involved in the conflict around them, however if they see a need that is great enough or a wrong that is dark enough, it is wise to stay out of their way for they will use the full power of their minds to put such things right... The Philerians being a monastic race will usually train with a master from the age of 5 to the age of 16, once they have completed their Melenth they rejoin their people and are free to choose their own destinies, but most spread out in their homeland only to come back together when their is need or to attend the teachings of the current high master.
Additional Information
The area the philerians live in is very desert like in appearance however it has many small lakes throughout it. the surface is harsh and hot with little plant life but the lakes are teeming with life. The Philerians generally travel from lake to lake either alone or in small groups, being careful not to exhaust the resources of any particular one, and allowing it to recuperate so the next traveler may also use it.
Mechanics
Considering the nature of this race a lot of them are going to probably have defender or some reason not to attack...
1. Pacifism effects of some kind i'm working on a keyword maybe Conversion - when this creature blocks a creature, that creature gains "this creature cannot attack or block". I'm doing this kinda rushed though i'll smooth out the key word later
2. tax - a warning of sorts... I'm going to make it difficult for you to do that evil stuff around me.
3. Protection effects - Protect those who cannot protect themselves, this is the way of the high master
4. Ability removal - If you can't stop them from doing something evil, make them forget that they can.
5. Creature steal - If all else fails, you will follow the path of enlightenment
Ok well here we go, scary to come into the game late but hopefully we can make this work, I just got done reading over the thread and through your race profiles... I guess here is my lore, I'm a little sketchy on what this is supposed to be.
LORE 0
The Philerians are a monastic and Nomadic/hermetic race and have only one city "Ascendia", usually only used for teaching and schooling children in the art of meditation, It's in the center of the "Serei desert" their homeland, all of the structures are made out of spiraling coral of varying colors, but mostly shades of blue and pink. They are powerful telepaths and are constantly aware of eachother, although they have learned to block out the thoughts of those around them they still experience a subdued version of the emotions of members of their race for miles around, which keeps them linked to each other all across the Serei. Although throughout their history the Philerians have been known to be spread out, current unrest in Thanreus has caused the high master(their wisest monk) to call for a tighter grouping. The Philerians have faced war several times throughout the decades when one group or another thought they would be easy pickings, but it's hard to fight an enemy who turns your troops against you. They are dedicated to self enlightenment and deeper learning, wisdom is the goal of every Philerian. They are Pure of heart and their telepathy causes them to be highly empathetic over the struggles of other races, although they keep to themselves if possible, they rarely turn a blind eye to injustice.
So here are the possible interactions with other races:
Atceras: Well I can't imagine that the Philerians would be very compatible friends to these guys, but being telepaths I'm sure they could appreciate their culture without judging it... and if we are going with the slavery thing, the Philerians would definitely be willing to help out, we don't like that crap
Delthran: These guys seem fairly compatible a shared border might be all we need, both species are very spiritual, although the whole savage thing could be a hindrance, although I can see Philerian monks trying hopelessly to reform some Delthrans haha
Celestials: These guys are easy allies, at least the blue and white ones... Philerians highest concern is self enlightenment, to be able to commune and bond with a spirit that has moved beyond the physical would be a great honor, although through their telepathy they would know these beings for what they are, the mutual bond would be greatly welcome.
Lirn: Oh man these guys are going to be a hard sell, the Philerians wont be able to connect to them at all, their strict monotheistic beliefs will seem very strange as will the rest of them, this might have to be a friend of a friend type thing, unless you have any ideas?
Reltathri: Well then, there are some things we can work with here, both races tend to enjoy solitude, and the Philerians would understand the need for research as similar to their need for meditation, with age come wisdom so they say, I'm sure that the Philerians would be willing to aid the Reltathri with keeping a clarity of mind in the hopes for a longer lifespan that could be provided by their alliance.
I like it, if we were to be neighbors then the Philerians would be willing to set up a mining operation for the Lrin, they would not however allow then inside their borders.. Unless maybe the Lrin, being artifact creatures are impervious to telepathy? I'm that case as allies we have no issue with you mining within or borders without the risk of infecting the minds of our children, a military alliance seems suitable, we provide you with the means to survive and you guard part of our borders, allowing us our solitude.
Can anyone give me the full address for the IRC?
I've never been any good with stuff like that...

Things I'm adding to the timeline. Origin stuff, yay!
1867BCE — Xanten experiments create the Tharen, the Delthran ancestors . It is decided that they will be used as laborers.
1554 BCE — The Tharen, having grown more intelligent since their inception 300 years prior, grow tired of slaving for the Xanten. Taking advantage of the turmoil between the Xanten & Vaelshii, the Tharen stage an uprising and escape into the Ghraig jungle and scatter into tribes.
1548 BCE — After 6 years, scattered Tharen tribes unite at lake Del, as foreseen by Tharen shamans. This is where they will build their city, the Delthran are reunited.
I'm not really sure but I was thinking that the Philerians were undisciplined and slightly savage during the time that the Xanten ruled over the plane, and after the fall of that empire they were united by the teachings of a single Philerian who would become the first high master and start their journey into enlightenment which would ultimately shape the race into what they are today... But as far as how submissions work I really have no idea.
Journal of Gareen the Clear
1549 BCE
I feel the fears and lusts and ambitions of my people in my mind and in my soul. We are weak, broken and unfocused. Our inability to control our abilities and our ambitions, our lust for personal gain over the needs of the many is what makes us feeble. I can no longer stand by, I can no longer spend all my days within the solitude of my mind. I must share the knowledge that I have acquired with my brethren, we must become united in mind and heart. I will spend the rest of my life dedicating myself to the unification of my kind. I will bring my people together, once they have experienced contact with my enlightened spirit they will eagerly join with me.
1545 BCE
In five long years I have only succeeded in bringing two hundred sheep into my flock. But I have had a breakthrough. Through communing with a spirit that called itself a celestial I believe I have discovered a way to create a permanent Psychic tie between myself and other Philerians... I'm not sure I have the strength to complete such a task, but I will continue to explore this possibility.
1543 BCE
I have done it! The celestial being that I have been communing with over the last two years has helped me greatly in my studies. I now know what must be done to connect the minds and souls of one Philerian to another! I only hope that I have the power to do so!
15542 BCE
I had tried and failed to complete the ritual needed in the joining many times before I realized I would need help... The celestial has offered to bond with my soul which would allow him to manifest himself in this plane with more substance and in turn the powers of my mind will be multiplied so that I may join our race together!
1540 BCE
Only two short years after my bond with my celestial brother I have succeeded in binding the minds of over one thousand of my people, as we grow in numbers our minds will inevitably pull our brothers and sisters to us until all Philerians are of one spirit.
1531 BCE
I am happy to say this will be my last entry in this journal, as of today every single Philerian has bound himself into our flock, and what has come as an unexpected surprise all the children born to bound parents come from the womb and enter into union with our race, although they must be brought up in our ways. No longer will we be weak, for we compliment each other and strengthen the weaknesses of our brothers with our own strength. There are dangers though... Even bound to one another my people feel the need for solitude and the peace that meditation brings... Our children must be brought up in our ways and taught to discipline themselves lest their minds become poisoned with the unclean thoughts of our neighbors and spoil all of us. Even though we are joined it has only served to make us realize the need for each of us to mentally discipline ourselves lest we fall back into our old ways... Each Philerian must learn to stand on his own and find the path to enlightenment.
I'm in the northwestern part of the US so pacific time I get off work around 10:00 pm about five hours fifteen min. before this post, but I'm on throughout the day and whatnot but usually through my phone so it's a little harder. I took some personal time off work though, so I'm off until Wednesday.
